Request reason:
Greetings. I see that my user has been blocked from editing. I am the only user in this account, and it's saying that I am not so it blocked me. I'm just trying to understand the process and issue. I am a new user on Wikipedia. Should I change my user name? Would this help? Thanks so much for your time and consideration.
Decline reason:
Sorry that the blocking administrator did not make the reason for the block clear. However, I am reasonably confident that what was meant was that your username implies that the account is used to edit on behalf of a group, whether or not only one member of the group is actually doing the editing. If that were the only problem, I would unblock you and invite you to apply for a change of username. However, there is another problem. Your editing to date has clearly been promotion of your group. Wikipedia is not a medium for promotion or advertising, and in addition editing an article on a subject in which you have a close personal involvement is strongly discouraged, as you will have a conflict of interest, which makes it likely that your editing will not be impartial and objective. (And, in your case, your editing so far confirms that.) If you wish to contribute to other areas of Wikipedia then you are perfectly welcome to make another unblock request, suggesting an alternative username to change to and describing in broad terms what sort of editing you expect to do. However, as long as it seems that your only purpose is to use Wikipedia to publicise your group you will probably not be unblocked. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:06, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Request reason:
Greetings. I apologize for the confusion. I am an avid user of Wikipedia and inquire the information it entails daily, but this was my first attempt at researching, creating and editing an actual article. This has been the only project I've been editing since I've registered for a user name because I just wanted to learn the ropes of creating an article to then continue on with creating and editing future articles. My intensions were not to publicise, promote, or advertise the group by any means and with understanding the Wikipedia guidelines better, can see how some of the material in the article was misleading. Therefore, I would like to edit that out (the itunes references) and re-edit and add additional resources correctly to be able to resubmit it. In hopes of achieving this, I would like to create other Wikipedia articles and edits as well. Also, in picking a user name I should of paid a little more close attention that it didn't have to be the actual name of the article that I was creating...thinking each article you create has to have a different user name. It all makes sense now...to create articles and edits under one user name. I hope this information helps and would love to continue my efforts with creating and being apart of the Wikipedia family. Thanks so much again for your time and consideration.
Decline reason:
First off, allow me to apologize again for the way this block has been handled. The admin who blocked you should have explicitly explained why you were blocked, and also should have explained that you are "soft" blocked, meaning you are welcome to simply abandon this account and register a new one with a non-infringing name at any time. So, I'm declining this request only because you have been adequately warned about the problems witht hte type of edits you have been making but nobody explained to you that you don't actually need to request unblock to change your name, it is much simpler to just start another account. Here are a few key questions:
- Do you understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a business directory?
- Do you understand conflict of interest?
- Do you understand that to be considered for an encyclopedia article, the subject must be notable?
You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the three important principles above. Nick-D (talk) 07:48, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
