Notice of proposed deletion

[edit]

Hi, kindly requesting you to reply on my message as I would like to know in detail why my article has been deleted even after citing a valid reference. Expecting your reply. Thank you Mightyupdate (talk) 20:57, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Pavel Grechishko

[edit]

The article Pavel Grechishko has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Failure to show original research, as required by Wikipedia's policy on biographies (NOR)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Thank you! larsona 07:57, 14 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

About how to order the current squad and recent call-ups

[edit]

Very well BR, the reason the recent call-ups are, well, by call-ups is because it gives you, very quickly a better idea of when everyone has been called, who has been called recently and who hasn't without having to stop in the column to see that said guy was called a month ago or a year ago, also, it's easier to spot the players that haven't been called in more than a year, making their removal easier. The flags are there so you can check against who they played without need to read the name of the country (with the " [[national football team|]]" code the flag has the name anyway), it also makes the editing process easier being that the fb code is much simpler than writing the actual link of the football team. The same can be said when the main list is by squad number. When you read, you read from left to right, so, the first thing you see, is the squad number, order the players by them and you have a list very easy to follow. If there's no squad number, then there's no problem if the players are by call-up. I'll leave the Nekhaychik and Soligorsk names the way you have them, then.

Renaming of Belarusian football teams

[edit]

I think it's time to bring some consistency. There are two official languages in Belarus: Russian (used by over 70% of population) and Belorusian. All teams here on Wiki are named in either Russian or Belorusian without any explanation. I'm taking a responsibility to rename all teams into Russian for one simple and strong reason: they are named so on the official club logos.NineInchRuiner (talk) 16:25, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Belarus 2010

[edit]

Yes, I made a mistake in my first edit, but I corrected myself in the second and I hope we understand each other now.

As for the second paragraph, I agree that head-to-head column isn't very nice, but it's the best we've come up with so far. As you could imagine, you're not the first one to have comments about it, but no-one invented some better way to display that tiebreaker. I, actually, doubt there is one, because it's not easy to display this kind of information. Of course, all suggestions are welcomed.

As for the source for the order of tiebreakers, I found it on the official BFF website: РЕГЛАМЕНТ ЧЕМПИОНАТА РЕСПУБЛИКИ БЕЛАРУСЬ ПО ФУТБОЛУ 2010 ГОДА (page 24, paragraph 12: ОПРЕДЕЛЕНИЕ МЕСТ КОМАНД В ТУРНИРНОЙ ТАБЛИЦЕ). I highly doubt this source is outdated or not correct.

Btw. I'm from Croatia. SonjiCeli (talk) 15:28, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

women's premier league belarus

[edit]

I'm currently creating articles of all UEFA's top level women'S football leagues. Belarus is quite difficult, do you know an official page for the women'S league? I only found women.soccerway so far. -Koppapa (talk) 11:17, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

European cups

[edit]

What's wrong with my recent edits to the articles on the Belarusian Premier League seasons? What I removed is irrelevant to the subject of the articles, and their subject is determined by their titles, viz. "<year> Belarusian Premier League". The Champions League and the Europa League (or, formerly, the UEFA Cup) are unrelated competitions under the aegis of an unrelated governing body, viz. the Union of European Football Associations. There are articles on the separate European competitions already, and the information about any club's participation therein belongs there. The presence of a handful of Belarusian Premier League teams in those international tournaments makes no difference; in fact, the Belarusian Cup is somewhat more related to the Premier League because all PL teams take part there and it is organised by the same federation that organises the PL - but no statistical data (nor any other type of information) concerning the Cup competition is included in the PL articles. In fact, I removed UCL- and UEL-related data from the pages detailing the domestic seasons in every country (not just Belarus) after seeing someone else doing that first - and no one has objected yet. The tables I removed last night just don't belong there, however notable, catchy and beautifully formatted they might be. I would venture a constructive suggestion that would include removing the sections in question again and creating an article entitled Participation of Belarusian clubs in the European club competitions or something similar, which could carry not only all those tables, but also some sourced readable text. --Theurgist (talk) 22:44, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

About on loan...

[edit]

Dear Mr. NineInchRuiner, excuse me, but that you wrote about "look ugly", isn't too seriously. Because first is, that information true or not true. "Question of aesthetics" is in second place! Of course, I will not fix everything again, but I'm disappointed about your position on this ... With best regards--Noel baran (talk) 21:49, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Usernames

[edit]

Hi. I'm sorry to tell you this, but your username really isn't acceptable. The only reason you've been able to edit since 2009 without getting a message like this until now is that I only noticed it today.

Now, I could block you. But I'm not going to do that. Instead, I'm going to ask -- politely -- that you file a request on Wikipedia:Changing usernames to have your username changed. Okay? DS (talk) 17:54, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The relevant policy is at Wikipedia:Username policy, since you asked. I would like you to please file a request to have your username changed to something less gleefully phallic. DS (talk) 22:30, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regardless of how your username is intended, my concern is that it is very likely to be perceived by editors who do natively speak English as an inappropriate reference, which would of and by itself be disruptive. Incidentally, Dragonfly and I are indeed both sysops; the easiest way to verify that is to search for our names at Special:ListUsers. I don't intend to block you for the inappropriate username, since you are a longstanding editor, but again, the likelihood of disruption makes me convinced that your continued editing under it is unlikely to be lead anywhere positive, and I would have no problem if someone did so. -- Pakaran 23:20, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How about "NiN Ruiner" , perhaps? DS (talk) 23:23, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's the combination of "Nine Inch" and "Ruiner", honestly. "BlameRuiner" is fine. As for "Buxter"... sorry, but like you said, you can't prove it was yours and it's got too many edits to allow usurpation. DS (talk) 11:37, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Andrey Svirkov has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

Hey BlameRuiner

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Greetings and... referencing/BLP

[edit]

Greetings BlameRuiner. I've just patrolled a page you created, and was about to leave you a warning notice about the lack of references. However, now that I see that you have several notices referring to biographies of living people (BLP), let me explain what's at stake here.

From what I understand, you seem to consider that an article is sufficiently referenced if it has external links. Unfortunately that is not the case. There is a difference between references (basically inline citations) which provide sources to specific information (and which are obligatory, and even more so for biographies of living people), and mere external links, which give general, and additional, information of interest (and which are not obligatory).

I spend much of my time here at Wikipedia reverting vandalism, and there is, unfortunately, a lot of vandalism on football-related pages – probably carried out by supporters of rival teams – and I can assure you that for those of us who move around Wikipedia fighting vandalism, there's a great difference between being able to revert that ever-so-subtle bad faith edit – having had access to the referenced source – and having to AGF and simply leave it there, certain that the vandal, who has already made half a dozen such edits in quick succession has scored yet again. And all because the original text cannot be easily verified...

Paraphrasing an admin: "An article may or may not include a bibliography or external links, but references are not open to discussion, for a very simple reason: you contribute what you know of a subject, and tomorrow some wise guy comes along and changes it all, introducing falsehoods into the text." And Jimmy Wales hits it on the head: "I really want to encourage a much stronger culture which says: it is better to have no information, than to have information like this, with no sources."[1]

Hopefully, that clears up any doubts you may have had about this. Basically, I imagine that you could, in many of the articles you have created, convert those external links into inline citations. If you have any further question, drop me a line. Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 11:04, 26 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2001 Belarusian First League, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Svetlogorsk (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Let's discuss

[edit]

Hi, I noticed you recently removed some maintenance tags I had placed on the article Antonio Siyaka after adding a citation to a trivial mention. I also noticed that you included no edit summary when you did this. I have undone your edit, and ask you to reconsider this tactic. It is a common practice to include in a Wikipedia article multiple non-trivial sources for the article's subject, and a common courtesy not to remove maintenance tags like those I left without offering adequate explanation or justification in the edit summary. It also appears you have been creating a number of articles like this one which may lack adequate notability. Can we discuss this? KDS4444Talk 16:44, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Belarus' colours on NFT

[edit]

Just to tell you, I've added back the decorations to the "current squad" table and the "recent call-ups" one. This decoration has been a project I've been embarked for the last few weeks (in case you didn't notice the other pages), looking to make it, well, a little more visually pleasing to any new visitor to the football pages and Belarus's is the last one from UEFA. I didn't made any other alterations to the tables and I made sure that the colours matched the ones from their current jerseys. Given that you're the main contributor to that page, I decided to leave you this message to ask you not to remove it and to avoid any sort of potential edit war over this. Anyway, cheers! The edits for Alex Hleb were valid. He was not in the match day squad for several cup finals and the rules per cup finals is you have to be in the squad for the final to get a medal. Davefelmer (talk) 18:32, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. First of all, there is no such "rule", or at least it varies from one cup to another. I think I can clearly see a medal on his neck here. Second and most important, having an honour does not equal having a medal for the final match. I thought this much is obvious. --BlameRuiner (talk) 08:31, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ilya Tyunis/Tsiunis

[edit]

Hello! You moved article I created as Ilya Tsiunis to Ilya Tyunis, but I am confused about spelling his name. In official document released by Football Association of Serbia, he is listed as Tsiunis V. Ilya and I also found his under that name here: https://ok.ru/profile/564184106567 Some sources also refered his as Ilya Tyunis, so both of them are probably correct. Lotom (talk) 15:20, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Lotom: Hi. The "official document" spelling you're referring to is most likely sourced from player's passport. Belarusian passports almost always use a transliteration from Belarusian language version of the name. However, our country has two official languages, and Russian is being used predominantly in media and everyday life. So, going by WP policy of using a most common name, I believe a Russian version (Tyunis) should be used. BTW he's also duplicated at Soccerway ([1] and [2]), and Tyunis is his earlier profile. -BlameRuiner (talk) 14:32, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Any idea why you reverted me? 'Your version':

  1. Contains a number of non-RS;
  2. Violates WP:OVERLINK with a wikilink to Cameroon;
  3. Has Soccerway as an External Link when it should really be used in-line;
  4. Removed categories;
  5. Had out-of-date stats and no dates in the infobox...

Do you need me to go on? Explanation welcome, as ever. GiantSnowman 06:59, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I did notice one very small issue while reviewing your contributions. You often write the phrase "As of 2017 he played ...". Please include a comma after the date in this type of sentence. Any sentence fragment like "In 2017", "As of 2017", "During 2017", etc needs a comma after it if it comes at the beginning of a sentence. Thanks! ~ Rob13Talk 03:53, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorting names

[edit]

Hi there, I'm MYS77.

I saw your edits at Hicham Khaloua, Mohamed Traoré Diarra and so on. I've reverted them because of WP:MCSTJR. According to it:

Some people are known primarily by their first name only. When it is not possible to set the first name alone as the article title, as with many articles in Category:Brazilian footballers, you should sort with the first name first to make the article easier to find in the categories. For example, Leonardo Araújo is commonly known as Leonardo, and should be sorted as {{DEFAULTSORT:Leonardo Araujo}}.

Thank you. MYS77 06:28, 21 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I came here to say the same thing but about Icelandic names. Your edit to Ágúst Hauksson removed the correct sorting for the Icelandic categories so now I will have to re-add them. BigDom (talk) 20:38, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'll try to remember that. In the meantime, why wouldn't you just fix the Defaultsort value instead? Sorting is precisely what it's for. --BlameRuiner (talk) 20:43, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jolicnikola (talk) 15:45, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Remarks on Tribo

[edit]

Hi, BlameRuiner! Thanks for your remarks on my article Tribo. I've added some new info, several categories and continue my work on grammar and spelling issue. I've also removed some info that may look like an advertisement but I'm not actually sure that I've got your point 100% right. So it would be great if You can give me some more precise tips about what's else need improvement with this issue, so I can make my article more proper. Thanks! I don’t know why you deleted my extra info on this page, but according to my info, he doesn’t play for Westerlo anymore, but Eendracht Termien. Amateur club in Genk. After this season, he’ll more than likely will stop playing soccer. Therefore I’ll ask you to change it back. Luca98 (talk) 14:48, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Luca98:! Sorry for the late reply. I reverted your edit because at the first glance it seemed like vandalism. I'm glad it wasn't the case, but there were still some things done incorrectly: you didn't close player's Westerlo time period and you also did some mistakes in the template parameters (specifically, |caps 9 with a space). No source for his Eendracht Termien spell was provided and it's also not mentioned in existing external links (Soccerway and belgianfootball.be). -- BlameRuiner (talk) 08:41, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. I’ll provide a source, but it is a Dutch source (my native language), and it’s faithful, because it is a major newspaper in Belgium.

Belarus national football team

[edit]

Look most of the national football team pages have those groups not be added as it doesn't provide substance for the article. To state the results section, they have it collapsible not like what the Belarus page currently has with it being collapsed. An example of these being Spain, Bulgaria and Armenia to name a few of those articles that have this format. HawkAussie (talk) 06:07, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can see, a lot of the national football team pages have those groups not be added because you went ahead and deleted stuff without any discussion. Please don't make it look like there's any consensus here. --BlameRuiner (talk) 09:04, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fails WP:NFOOTY as he has not played in a professional match.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Category:Lithuanian football club seasons requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletions of many women's footballers

I noticed right now that you AfDed a number of articles on women's footballers I created. From the history section of your contributions list, I can see that all that happened within a couple of minutes. Do you really check the articles in depth before you tag them with AfD? @CeeGee: Yes, I did check the articles. I just took the time to check several of them, before nominating. I appreciate your passion for Turkey-related topics, but these footballers are simply not notable enough, in my opinion (and per Wiki criteria). --BlameRuiner (talk) 09:13, 14 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am absolutely not in your opinion. There are some only a minute time between your postings. On the aother hand, you judge biographies with reliable sources as not GNG. Also, new articles are in progress of development. Please stop doing so. Thanks. CeeGee 10:02, 14 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. How did you come to the conclusion that Stuart Webber does not meet the GNG? --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 13:57, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Dweller: Because I don't see what exactly makes him notable. If it was a player, then two of his sources are routine transfer reports and two more are just rumors. I'm sorry, but simply mentioning a guy joining a Premier League club in a scout position and listing his previous jobs (as the sources do) does not makes him notable in my eyes. --BlameRuiner (talk) 08:31, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There's the problem. Your eyes aren't the issue. It's the GNG you cited, not your opinion. And the GNG defines notability, not you. And he sails past the GNG. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 08:48, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletions

[edit]

Can you please explain the reasoning for the proposed deletions of the footballers mentioned on my talk page so I can improve the page? I am unfamiliar with "GNG and NFOOTY" NYMetro96 (talk) 22:46, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @NYMetro96: Hi. GNG is WP:GNG and NFOOTY is WP:NFOOTY. Your players fail these policies because their external sources coverage is almost entirely WP:ROUTINE transfer updates (GNG fail), and because they didn't play in Fully-professional leagues (NFOOTY fail) as defined in the list of such leagues (WP:FPL - NISA and Costa Rican leagues aren't listed). --BlameRuiner (talk) 12:41, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • @BlameRuiner: Hello, I understand that being the case for Seagrist and Corfe, I will move their pages to the Draftspace. However for Ugalde, the Costa Rican league is a fully professional league, and he has also participated in the CONCACAF Champions League, where he was named the best young player of the tournament. I don't understand what additional notoriety he would need. NYMetro96 (talk) 22:50, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • @NYMetro96:: Once again, if the league isn't listed at WP:FPL (and Costa Rican league ins't), then the Wiki community has not reached a consensus that it's fully professional. Sorry, but it's not me who came up with the guidelines. If you think you can prove it's fully-pro (and provide sources) and it deserves to be added to the list, then start a discussion at the talk page and make your case. --BlameRuiner (talk) 22:57, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hey! I appreciate transfermarkt is not the absolute best source in the world (particularly for transfer fees, which are often guesses), but given that this particular article has been the subject of concerted misinformation over a period of over 3 years - during most of which time it contained patently false information about new clubs, and which has also been inserted into other articles about more prominent people and found it's way all over the web, I thought referencing a website which is clear and categorical about the end of his career (at a very low level of football, so not covered many places) would be helpful.

Is that not right?

Belarus Premier League squads

[edit]

Hey! First, thank you for all your contributions to the Belarus Premier League teams. I'm fairly new so I want to discuss this with you. I see a lot of changes to the squads that are not reflected in the team's websites - take FC Isloch as an example. What source are we taking as the primary source here? Are we just taking the club's website or are we taking the squad changes from different sources?

Thank you!

--KetavaKetaviene (talk) 19:26, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I definitely don't use the clubs' websites as the only source. I pull the info from a variety of sources, including clubs' social media profiles (a lot of times they're more up-to-date than the websites with various squad changes), Belarusian sports news websites, and also from the match reports (for example squad numbers often pulled from them, like my recent update for Isloch). I must admit I sometimes don't add a specific source for a specific player's move, but all of them have their own external sources which will reflect the move anyway. --BlameRuiner (talk) 21:30, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the late response. I see. That is a good thought process as clubs' websites are often not up-to-date and have delays in updates. Absolutely, all those sources are good and reliable enough. I agree with you. Thanks for the clarification!

Proposed deletion of Dimitris Kalogerakos

Hallo BlameRuiner (talk), we believe that this article is fully conformed by Wikipedia´s policies! We hold a lot of accounts shared in our team, which is working on finding out and crossing the information with our external collaborators, about those players with notable achievements in young age mostly. Kindly, we are asking you to perceive our goodwill intentions about our goals to enrich articles. We are editing With responsibility articles with incorrections about Greek football players and coaches, which have lack of certified sources or bad information creation and we work with one account for each article (focused on two - three articles max in each account). If you insist about changing some details we are open to discuss and prove the information. Specifically, about that article we found some interviews and sources on websites, where it is mentioned more interesting aspects about this person and we decided not add any of them. We found that he has not only one career pro appearance and regarding the recognition in the Greek football community the information is leniently sufficient. We are open for any discussion! While I appreciate you're efforts to improve sub-standard footballer articles, it would be helpful if you could spread them out more so interested editors can evaluate and/or improve them within the 7-day deadline (you nominated 11 articles for deletion in a single day!). Proposed Deletion of Christopher Fayers

[edit]

Hi, I kindly would like to know the reason in detail as to why the article of Christopher Fayers has been proposed for deletion, even though information on Christopher Fayers has citing and articles (2 sources) which accurately support the information provided in the article (lines 1-4). You note that reason for deletion is "failed GNG and NFOOTY", however player has only just recently been added to Terengganu FC squad, and additionally due to the recent COVID19 pandemic, it has forced suspension of Malaysian Super League, which prevents the player from registering an official appearance for professional club Terengganu FC. Please re-review and reconsider the deletion of this page. Thanks. ShaunPaul10 —Preceding undated comment added 12:21, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @ShaunPaul10: The fact the he's newly registered player doesn't matter. There are tons of players that are registered with senior fully-pro teams but never make a single appearance before departing somewhere else. He won't become notable per NFOOTY until actually play a fully-pro game. I see that he's also loaned to an amateur lower-league club so that may not happen for a while. If you want to keep the page for publishing in the future, I suggest to move it to draft or userspace. --BlameRuiner (talk) 12:53, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Quick heads-up: Category:Southern United F.C. players seems to be for a London club, not the New Zealand one. I have made a request for Category:Wexford Youths F.C. players to be moved to Category:Wexford F.C. players. Kind regards, 11:56, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

I've also created Category:Southern United FC players and added that to Molloy's article. Happy editing, Robby.is.on (talk) 12:05, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Mouhamed Niang

[edit]

Hello, why is this article being considered for deletion? I have tried to find out before but am yet to revive a reply. I removed the deletion notice as when I originally got a message saying that the article was being proposed for deletion it said to remove the notice with a reason to stop the deletion process. I did so but was then told not to remove it until the discussion was finished. However, I haven’t seen any discussion and do not want an article I spent time and effort on to be deleted for no reason. I have updated the article since with more sources, with it currently having ten sources on the article. I have already stated that I know the article doesn’t have a huge amount of content in it, but neither do a lot of footballers articles currently on Wikipedia. I also will be continuing to edit and update the page throughout next season where I will have more content to add.

I apologise if I come across as frustrated, only due to the fact I still haven’t received a reply to my messages or any reasoning for the proposed deletion. Thanks Partickthistle123 (talk) 17:23, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Uryu Nagata

[edit]

Hi, I kindly would like to know the reason in detail as to why the article of Uryu Nagata has been proposed for deletion, he is playing for Bangladeshi top tier side Dhaka Mohammedan. Please re-review and reconsider the deletion of this page. Thanks. Saiful Islam Jitu —Preceding undated comment added 13:52, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bangladeshi league champion participating in the continental stage so why not it is considered as a fully pro league. I need the help of yours regarding this, how we can include Bangladeshi league as a pro league. Saiful Islam Jitu

Proposed deletion of Reasat Islam Khaton

[edit]

I know Reasat did not play in a fully-professional league (per WP:FPL), but he also gained national media attention as an athlete by playing as a first-ever Bangladeshi in a top tier European league. Lauren Hill is a bigger example I know, but Reasat is kind of similar to us. Thanks. Saiful Islam Jitu

Several Proposed Deletions

[edit]

Hello, just wanted to write to you to ask why you hunt down every single article I put up and try to delete it. Whilst I understand you are experienced on Wikipedia and are wary of bots or internet trolls and try to keep the website a safe and reliable place, I feel like you are taking down articles which have been put up with the intention of allowing certain audiences the luxury of reading about their interests. I focus on Middle-Eastern and Eastern-European football for English-speakers because there are many people who live in those countries or originate from those countries but only speak or prefer speaking in English, which is why I try and broaden Wikipedia's resources in these areas, to allow them to learn more and read about footballers from that country. I do extensive and time-consuming research for every single player or article I publish and whilst not all of them have references from English websites or traditional sources, they are all players that are known in their respective country and have appeared in the media at least once, which is Wikipedia's guidelines. Please look into these articles a bit deeper before proposing them for deletion and don't hesitate to contact me for any questions or tips on any article! Thank you. MisterWiki2K 03:10, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @MisterWiki2K: It's nothing personal, really. It's just that these players really don't meet criteria, you would know this if you'd read NFOOTY carefully. Iraqi league is not a fully-professional competition as defined in the list of fully-pro leagues, therefore it's not enough for these players to play for such a club. I'm also pretty sure you noticed that most of these pages were already deleted before, for the same reasons. --BlameRuiner (talk) 07:35, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

More Belarusian Cup seasons

Why you not yet created a articles of the more Belarusian Cup seasons and are you going to do in the near future? And also the results table of the Belarusian Premier League from 1992 until 2007? Jolicnikola (talk) 21:31, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The article is about a person who worked as a professional coach in the Iraqi league for 8 seasons, so I do not understand the reason for trying to delete the article.Mr. Port (talk) 09:08, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Mr. Port: You have participated in many deletion discussions at this point, so you very well know that Iraqi league is not a fully-pro league. --BlameRuiner (talk) 09:31, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I know that the Iraqi League is not a fully-pro league, but what I do know is that this law applies to players, not coaches. Mr. Port (talk) 10:59, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Mr. Port: The rule applies to coaches too in the same way, if you read WP:NFOOTY. Also, Saddam Salman wasn't a manager or head coach, according to his profile. Being simply a goalkeeper coach even at Real Madrid won't make a person notable (unless he or she passes by other career points). -BlameRuiner (talk) 11:18, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Should it exist

[edit]

Hi! When removing backlinks from another one of your successful prods, I saw this: List of foreign football players in Uzbekistan 1992-2019. Is there any point to this list when List of foreign football players in Uzbekistan exists? Geschichte (talk) 08:37, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Geschichte: Yeah, the one with 1992-2019 should be either deleted or redirected. I'm looking at these pages' histories and it looks like the banned user Nursultan12 got butthurt and created the 1992-2019 page in March'19 after I reverted some of his nonsense edits on the original. On the bigger scale, I don't really care for any of such player's lists. They can be interesting sometimes when up-to-date and properly referenced, but it's borderline WP:OR and WP:LC. --BlameRuiner (talk) 09:20, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Kosovan football referees requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Liz Read! Speedy deletion declined: Andris Riherts

[edit]

Hello BlameRuiner. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Andris Riherts, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The AfD was concerned with a batch of players, rather than coaches as far as I can see. His connection with the national team, as well as being a manager of a league team (which the article states is fully pro), is enough I think that this is far enough removed from teh criteria of the AfD to fail this CSD nomination. Needs to go back to AfD if required. . Thank you. GedUK  10:23, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

RøedS (talk) 14:55, 25 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There's just too much praise and emotional words and unimportant quotes. Works fine for a magazine article, not so much for wikipedia. It should be more neutral and stuck to the facts. Your recent nominations for deletion.

[edit]

Hello BlameRuiner,

I have noticed some of your recent nominations for deletion (Ragnar Rump, Boris Dugan, Sten Teino, and Dmitri Kirilov) and I am curious about how you came to the conclusion that these articles fail to meet WP:GNG, when nearly all of them are using the same sort of sources you have used when you have created articles? Stub articles created by you such as Mikhail Kravchuk, Anatoly Savinsky, Syarhey Ignatovich, Dzyanis Lebedzew, Yevhen Yeliseyev, Yaroslav Bohunov, Dmitry Vashkel, Aleksey Teslyuk, Igor Tymonyuk, Pavel Grechishko, etc., all have very scant references that, by your own criteria, would fail WP:GNG. Some of the articles you have nominated, in fact, have more in depth references than articles that you created and still frequently edit. You cite WP:GNG, when your sparse referencing is nearly all from simple statistic sites such as soccerway.com and FootbalFacts.ru. ExRat (talk) 01:01, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The main difference is really NFOOTY. I don't have prejudice to Estonian players in particular, if that's your concern. That's just how it is - Meistriliiga as well as futsal and beach soccer national teams are not enough to meet NFOOTY. Also, this is why Wikipedia has an established process. I can't just go ahead and delete something, if you think I'm wrong then you're free to present your arguments to the community. --BlameRuiner (talk) 07:40, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I never said you had a prejudice against Estonian players. I was asking you why you are using WP:GNG as a reason to nominate articles for deletion, when articles you yourself have created would most definitely fail to meet WP:GNG criteria by your very own reasoning. And if you are using NFOOTY as a reason, and claim that futsal and beach volleyball aren't covered in the scope of NFOOTY, then why are you using that as a reason to nominate? Tim.1944.Au Your query at Teahouse answered. BlameRuiner and other editors were correct in reverting your additions because you did not provide acceptable references. None of this is personally directed toward you. Given that you recently lost your father, I suggest you take a few weeks away from Wikipedia, and then decide if you can return with a clear mind. I stress, information can be true, but unless it can be verified by reliable source references, it cannot be in Wikipedia articles. My last updated was with ALL SOURCES AND NEWSPAPERS ARTICLE with top website in the world. About @mattythewhite: Andrea Stramaccioni is a new coach of a garafha team in Qatar and I edit it 5 days ago , and he keep reverting, OFFICIAL WEBSITE PLUS OFFICIAL INSTAGRAM PAGE already post the pictures of the coach on the team and he yesterday had his first training with the team as a manager and still his page os not updated because they keep charge my edit without have a proper knowledge. If I do any update because I am 100% sure with that and I provide sources too but still they reverting me :) do you think this is fair ? Let me think that have something personal :) don’t you think? As multiple other editors here have repeatedly told you: It is not enough to be "100% sure" because you've seen a Youtube video or whatnot. Please let me know if there is more I can add. I will delete the proposed deletion if I do not hear back within a few days. I'm also wondering why there was no discussion created relating to the deletion of the article. I checked July 13th and July 14th on the articles for deletion page, but found no discussion to debate the significance. Swimmer33 (talk) 18:10, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Per Template:Infobox person countries of birth and death should not be linked. Baltic states are used without political additions not Republic of Estonia nor Estonian Soviet Socialist republic, just Estonia is enough. As infobox person says use what is appropriate for the context. For person born few weeks before the countries name changed it's really unnecessary to add those political additions that she had nothing to do with. -Klõps (talk) 23:02, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Klõps: I would agree with you regarding the links. I don't intend to start any edit wars here, knowing how sensitive are many Estonian wiki editors regarding this subject. However the fact remains that Borisenko was born in Soviet Union and not in independent Estonia (as independence resolution wasn't even fully adopted by its own parliament until the August if next year). I think it would be appropriate to use Estonia, Soviet Union without mentioning SSR.--BlameRuiner (talk) 06:49, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
People born in Paris 1940-1944 aren't marked as born Paris, German Military Administration in Belgium and Northern France. It's a known fact and if it's important in the case of the subject then it can be written in prose. But in this case she was a month old when Estonia changed the official name from Estonian SSR to R of Estonia in May 1990 and probably even didn't remember any events that happened. There is no need to be this anal with an unimportant fact, when the article is just two rows of text.
Politically, the annexation of Baltic states was internationally unrecognized and their diplomatic missions around the world were still recognized as the diplomatic representatives of the independent states. The sovereignty over Baltic States never went to Soviet Union. As Infobox person says use sovereign states, but Baltics weren't sovereign parts of USSR blablabla. Pointless to be so anal, when in other similar cases it's just the name of the territory. -Klõps (talk) 07:30, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Estonian media wrote that Уроженка Таллинна трагически погибла в Белоруссии this can be quoted in the prose that she was born in 1990 in Tallinn then part of the Soviet Union, but later moved with her parents to Belarus -Klõps (talk) 07:35, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Do whatever you want. Like I said, I'm not gonna start edit war over this. Just please don't pretend that her being born a month before name change and whether she remembered this or not has any significance to you. If she was born 10 or 15 years earlier you would've done exactly the same thing anyway. This wall of text that you need to justify the change is precisely why I said Estonians are oversensitive on this topic. --BlameRuiner (talk) 07:41, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Why such personal attack and anger? As I said There is no need for this political stuff in the infobox. In case of France and other places it is not written like this. It's not written Paris, German Military Administration in Belgium and Northern France just Paris, France – Catherine Deneuve, Christian Boltanski. Or Norway 1940-1945 isn't written Oslo, Reichskommissariat Norwegen, but just Norway – Petter Thomassen, Åshild Hauan, Magne Thomassen, Netherlands isn't marked as Amsterdam, Reichskommissariat NiederlandeWilly Dobbe, Rutger Hauer. Why should Baltic states be treated differently? -Klõps (talk) 08:09, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You ran aot of arguments here, started personal attacks. And now again go on with edit warring. Stop it. --Klõps (talk) 22:27, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Improper dates and comma usage

[edit]
Stop icon

Please stop placing a comma before the words “who plays” in the ledes of football players, as you have done on dozens of occasions. That is not proper use of a comma, as it does not create a new clause in the sentence. In addition, you have repeatedly updated stats and provided a date of “31 December 2021.” I am writing this note on 12 December 2021, which means that 31 December 2021 is still in the future. Thus, it is impossible for you to have updated a stat on 31 December 2021. The date for updates must be the date on which the stat was updated, not some made up date in the future. The best way to achieve this is to add ~~~~~ on the date line, which will create an exact timestamp. I have reverted as many of these edits as possible, but there are too many to correct without wasting hours of my time. Please use proper comma usage and proper dates in the future or will have to consider such edits vandalism. Anwegmann (talk) 00:06, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, yeah, an obvious vandalism. The season is over, transfer window is not open yet, so the stats will not change at least until window opens. This is the same thing as saying Team X has qualified for so and so before the group or league is over. The date for updates must be the date on which "the stats are correct as of date", if you're gonna revert my edits with caps and goals that it's you are undoing the valid edits. I agree with you on the comma though, I got confused a bit there. --BlameRuiner (talk) 06:15, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just use the ~~~~~ like everyone else who makes reasonable edits. Something cannot be "correct as of" a date in the future, which is inherently unknown. With an improper date, the stat update is incomplete. Anwegmann (talk) 16:34, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to enjoy proposing for articles to be deleted! I recently removed your tag of proposed deletion on the Hermione Cull article because she has FOOTYN by playing for a professional and notable team and plays internationally for England.--PageThoodward (talk) 17:02, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@PageThoodward: To actually meet NFOOTY, she should actually play for Arsenal (either in English league or Champions League). Being registered with the team and even appearing on bench is not enough. She didn't make debut against Barcelona as the article claims - Manuela Zinsberger was on goal. Same with international play - youth teams are not enough, only senior national team counts and only when she actually plays. It's the same criteria as for men footballers. --BlameRuiner (talk) 18:22, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
She’s a member of the Arsenal football team and the England U19s team. There’s significant coverage of her moving from Southampton FC to Arsenal and to also becoming a member of the England U19 team. Also, the definition of “played”:
“Note: For the purposes of this guideline, "played" means having appeared in a match either in the starting lineup or coming on as a substitute.”.
So yes, she’s notable.--PageThoodward (talk) 19:48, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Good day. There is an issue which has arisen as a result of the Ghana Premier League being taken off the Professional Football Leagues and there making it not eligible under the NFOOTY. This decision was taken about two months ago. Due to that articles which passed NFOOTY because the league was on the Professional Football League are no more eligible. These articles are both part of such articles. I have done a lot to proof that it is a professional league. However it was not reverted and is going to cause a lot of issues with several of them being tagged for deletion.

Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues#Ghana Premier League

As an editor who created articles at the time of which the league was on the list, it means now I would face all the troubles, meanwhile I am not the one who listed it there and has kept it there since somewhere in 2009 until now. Now I have to bare the consequence. Those two articles at that time were eligible under NFOOTY because at that time the league was listed in there. Hmmm. Hi there:

[edit]

I've seen you have warned this IP editor for disruptive editing, seeing as a sockpuppet of a banned editor has inappropriately warned the said IP editor for vandalism, when the editor who filed the warning has been doing some vandalism themselves by rapidly reverting random edits like this example here. I assumed you were a newbie at first, only to realize quickly that it didn't seem to be the case, as your account was created on October 1st, 2009 with more experience than the LTA persistently giving out a barrage of fake warnings before one of them was legitimately warned by you. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 23:19, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@DarkMatterMan4500: Glad that misunderstanding got resolved fast. That sock's activity similar to mine was just a coincidence. I was only after that specific IP vandal who pops up with the same behavior every month. Not only I warned him (which never helped with his previous incarnations), but also reported him to vandalism prevention page. --BlameRuiner (talk) 07:14, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@BlameRuiner: That would explain a lot why you re-warned the user(s) after I removed the inappropriate warnings by a serial sockpuppet vandal. And about the LTA that was rapidly reverting edits, that was likely ItsLassieTime, locked under cross-wiki abuse. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 11:38, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's currently being nominated for deletion by an SPA, but by all means, feel free to voice a delete opinion, as I said I'm not canvassing. The thing is, I know you frequently edit Belarusian football, and I as a person who has never visited Belarus have nonetheless known about Gomselmash for 25 years through their sponsorship of FC Gomel. Inappropriate deletions

[edit]

1. You made an inappropriate deletion here. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Belarus_national_under-23_football_team&diff=1081492924&oldid=1081491513

The cite-supported text you deleted is clearly relevant. Highly relevant. The team was just banned from international competition. It is absurd for you to claim it is not relevant. And not proper for you to delete this, therefore, cite-supported and all.

2. You have also deleted properly cited material from text of articles, under another baseless rationale. Claiming that because the information was in the lede, it should be deleted from the text. You turn wp:lede on its head. It clearly states that the lede reflects the most important material from the text. Your deletion there, as well, is completely improper. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Belarus_national_football_team#Deletion

If you continue taking this path, let's bring this to the admin board to discuss. It is quite clear that such deletions are not proper.

Hey man, just re: this change, I'm not sure it makes sense to leave the links in there. It makes sense in later seasons as teams started to be able to qualify not just by winning their domestic league, but prior to 1997, what use is the link? I'd be happy to remove them from all previous seasons for consistency, I just don't see what benefit there is to saying "all of these clubs won their domestic leagues with no exceptions". – PeeJay 12:22, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@PeeJay: Hey. My point was, that on the later seasons of CL, we not only show the place in domestic league like (1st) or (2nd), we also pipe it like (1st), giving the users easier way to get to see they was team went through (i.e. league table). It's not like the page is growing too much because if it, is it? Plus there are also cases (they are rare, but still exist) when a non-champion was admitted, like Monaco ofter Marseille's ban. --BlameRuiner (talk) 07:48, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

2018 FIFA World Cup knockout stage

[edit]

In my edit about Colombia-England, I said that it looked like Trippier headed the ball into the goal off the bar. In these videos, one of which is from FIFA and the other one having a better angle, it shows that he did. I know FIFA counted it as a goal from Mina, but it’s worth mentioning.

Polish lower leagues statistics

[edit]

Hi there! Not long ago, you asked me about sources for Polish lower league statistics. Recently, I found that the Polish FA keeps track of all of them, at laczynaspilka(dot)pl(slash)rozgrywki. It is a bit annoying to navigate, and causion is advised as sometimes the number of appearances in the 'Statystyki' tab can include duplicated matches, or games in which the player remained on the bench - you'll find all of them in the 'Mecze' tab. That's why I manually count the actual number of appearances and goals, just to be safe. Take care! KibolLP (talk) 12:13, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

UEFA Euro 1996 qualifying

[edit]

Hi, BlameRuiner, you just reverted my edit on UEFA Euro 1996 qualifying (no problem with that). I just wanted to know what the standard was. As I understand it, when referring to the event as a whole, flags should be accurate as of the end of qualyfing. Meanwhile seeding, which took place in 1994, should have flags accurate at that moment. Am I correct? Ktvptf (talk) 19:04, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, BlameRuiner

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Thebiguglyalien, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Yevgeny Abramovich, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Thebiguglyalien}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Notice

The article Nemanja Obrenović has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable. Played just two games at top-tier level.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
