asalamualikum...

welcome to wikipedia. just saw your edits, looks like we share the same field of interest. Feel free to ask for assistance in editing or any wiki policy related issue. I would recommend Wikipedia:List of policies and Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines to better understand the encyclopediac style and manual. I can recall how my first edits and articles looked like, they were horrible ! lolzz any ways hope to see u around.

regards...

Walikumsalam, hope u r doing good. So first of all use sandbox to work on your incomplete article once they are complete then paste them in the article box. i will make a sand box for you on ur user page for battle of jalula. I saw the article yesterday it was in bad condition (as its in construction process right now, thts why i suggest use of sandbox as per wiki policies), i didnt reverted it back to original conditions thinking it might upset a newcomer user. Once its complete in the sandbox i will check it to wikify it. Maps are good, and they would be excellent if u try making them using inkscape its an excellent sofware best for map making (download it its free) and follow the conventional style of mapping (see my other maps on my user page).

Battle of walaja

I have written articles on almost every significant battle of early muslim conquest, except for battle of nihawand, i am currently exhausted so on a short break meanwhile working on remkming maps of battle of qadisiyah and yarmuk with inkscape, thts why i would apreciate if u try working on battle of nihawand's article too, it was a key battle. and dont forget to sign ur post by leaving four such tides ~ below ur post. regards and yes, dont show ur age on wikipedia remove it, or else every body will think "he's just a kid piss him off" i did tht mistake when i joined wikipedia, though i am 21 now but still its not an age tht most people think to be "mature". الله أكبرMohammad Adil 19:21, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As for wikipedia's article making style and language style try reading the article of other battles i would suggest Battle of Yarmouk and Battle of Cannae. Eid Mubarak. الله أكبرMohammad Adil 19:37, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes jalula wasnt a key battle, its main purpose was to clear the northern iraq of persian garrison, to establish a firm base for Muslim rule west of zagros mountains (present day iraq). As for the article about zirrar ibn azwar and qa'qa ibn Amr, they are one of the most impressive commanders, infact it was Qa'qa who virtually commanded muslims at qadisiyah acting as a field commander from 2nd day till the last day. I would have created their article years ago if i had material available about them, there is no biography of them nor any source tht could even tell their birth date no one clearly knows when they died, and my sources are limited, its impossible to find some thing about them online and libraries in quetta sucks !

I can contribute about their military carrier, but as for their biography, try your luck, there might be some good "large" libraries in karachi try finding "tabqat ibn saad" or there is a series of biographies of campanions of prophet written by maulana shubli noumani library in quetta had only few of its volumes i checked in it and could't find their biography in it may be its their in some other volumes try finding them. I have plans for siege of jerusalem (1187) and battle of hattin, once i wrote them i will write about the military exploits of qa'qa and zarrar. Please check if u can find wht i requested u can contribute a lot using them. الله أكبرMohammad Adil 18:37, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • ok i will do it shortly.

الله أكبرMohammad Adil 09:56, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

الله أكبرMohammad Adil 22:26, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

asalamualikum, thanks for the appreciation, i hope u will continue ur future projects as listed, let me know if you need assistance.

I recall that u were planning to write some thing regarding strategic and tactical prowess of Khalid ibn Walid (R.A), well, if u are still interested you can add some related stuff to Khalid ibn Walid#Legacy.

Asalaumalikum, its really great to know that your dream have come true, our army need people like you who are into the battles and strategies not into the charm and glittering of army life, i have always said that there is a difference between a "soldier" and a "warrior", and definitely you are a valuable addition to the "warriors" of pak army, not soldiers..

Hello Mohkum Shabbir,

Thank you for the support and compliments, and I am extrememly sorry for the late response. Concerning the requests for making fan UBX for the personalities listed, I have to regret that I cannot do this soon as I am quite busy at the moment. Maybe, I can do this during December/January, when I am off school.

Once again, thanks for your support!

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 11:15, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

March Madness 2017

[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

[edit]

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. Greetings,

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

[edit]

Hey y'all, the April 2021 WikiProject Military History Reviewing Drive begins at 00:01 UTC on April 1, 2021 and runs through 23:59 UTC on April 31, 2021. Points can be earned through reviewing articles on the AutoCheck report, reviewing articles listed at WP:MILHIST/ASSESS, reviewing MILHIST-tagged articles at WP:GAN or WP:FAC, and reviewing articles submitted at WP:MILHIST/ACR. Service awards and barnstars are given for set points thresholds, and the top three finishers will receive further awards. To participate, sign up at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Military_History/April 2021 Reviewing Drive#Participants and create a worklist at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/April 2021 Reviewing Drive/Worklists (examples are given). Further details can be found at the drive page. Questions can be asked at the drive talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:23, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
