DYK for Earl K. Fernandes
[edit]On 28 April 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Earl K. Fernandes, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that, upon ordination, Earl K. Fernandes will be the first Indian-American Latin Catholic bishop in the United States? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Earl K. Fernandes. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Earl K. Fernandes), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

[edit]Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Sacred Heart Church (Columbus, Ohio). You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 14:31, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- All of those templates, as far as I see, are resource-specific - how would I create one for the work I cited? Maximilian775 (talk) 22:59, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- The attribution template I used is
{{PD-notice}}
. Just include it as part of your citation when copying from public domain documents. — Diannaa (talk) 01:09, 30 April 2022 (UTC)

Holy Family, moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Holy Family,, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello Maximilan775 – could you take a look at my comments on the nomination template about the hook please? To my mind, only a small change is needed, and I am keen to mark this as verified because all other aspects of the nomination are fine. I am going on holiday on Saturday for a week and may struggle to get the chance to edit Wikipedia during that period, so if you could have a look in the next 24 hours that would be great. Best, Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 21:59, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, so sorry! I've been getting back into the swing of things with the start of the academic year. I understand your critique, but as a newer editor am unsure as to how to edit the DYK itself. I assume a better phrasing would be "that the second-oldest church of the Diocese of Columbus, St. Mary of the Assumption (pictured), was named a minor basilica by Pope Francis on the Vigil of the Assumption of Mary? " / Could you indicate to me how to edit the DYK itself? Maximilian775 (talk) 13:27, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hello again. Sorry I couldn't reply to this message; I've just got back from holiday, and I only had my phone with me which made it impossible to read "Talk" pages and reply to messages. I see other users were able to help you on this occasion, but if you would like to nominate any more articles for DYK in the future and need any advice, please do ask me on my Talk page and I will be happy to help. PS At this stage it looks like the hook will appear on the Main Page on the evening of 23rd September (US time; early hours of 24th September UK time), in the coveted "pictured" slot. The following day you will be able to see how many views the article had during that day: there will be a link on the article Talk page. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Eugene O'Connell, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Daniel Murray and Paul Cullen. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Potential good topic

- This could be very neat. How close are the existing pages to GA status? Maximilian775 (talk) 21:32, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
- Leander Schnerr has been nominated and Aurelius Stehle looks close. The hardest will be Boniface Wimmer (due to the large volume of sources), Rembert Weakland (due to the sex abuse), and Martin Bartel (due to being alive and not much being written about him). -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 11:44, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Wanted someone to at least glance at my sandbox articles on ritual families and liturgical uses before I push them to the main space. Would you mind just doing a quick check on them and adding whatever you think is relevant? These are the two: User:Pbritti/sandbox/Rite (liturgy) and User:Pbritti/sandbox/Use (liturgy). Thanks! ~ Pbritti (talk) 16:09, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay! They look generally strong.
- On "Rite", why do you call it the liturgy of St. Mark rather than the liturgy of Saint Cyril?
- As to "use", where are you pulling the list of uses from?
- Additionally, is there any reason why you didn't link to the Archive Dot Org version of Attwater's book?https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.177981
- Maximilian775 (talk) 14:30, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
- "Liturgy of St. Mark" is the typical Byzantine Rite name for the liturgy (think how some EO call the Roman Rite Mass the Liturgy of St. Gregory). It's the name used most of the sources I have so I stuck with it for the article. I pulled the use list from two books buts clearly neglected links to most of it. Thanks for linking the Attwater book; I should add that but I need to ensure its the same printing with the same pages. Thanks! ~ Pbritti (talk) 15:43, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, OFM. Conv.. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Michael Thomas Martin. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Michael Thomas Martin. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. CycloneYoris talk! 17:56, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

Brian Thompson (businessman) Pistol
[edit]For your edit with the tag " →Death: pistols are not bolt action." please refer to the Welrod Pistol. BarakHussan (talk) 22:07, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- My comment was imprecise, but I think the general edit stands. It's very unlikely that the pistol was "bolt-action" and none of the sources talking about the shooting use that phrase as far as I have seen. Maximilian775 (talk) 22:09, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- none of the sources implicitly states it was semiautomatic either, although video within the articles shows the user operating it in a bolt action manner BarakHussan (talk) 22:13, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- Manually cycling a slide is not equivalent to a bolt-action pistol.
- If you are amenable to it, let's leave the descriptor for the pistol as-is (IE, just "silenced 9mm") until more information comes out.
