Duplicate images uploaded
Thanks for uploading Image:UWE2.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Uwe logo2.jpg. The copy called Image:Uwe logo2.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 23:45, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Its not vandalism, its the truth. I shalt revert this. --BenefitSale 09:47, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
BenefitSale, Gordon Brown lost his eye due to a detached retina as a result of an injury whiule playing rugby, when he was an undergraduate - as explained elsewhere in the article. As for the rest, if you can substantiate your claims, then please do, and cite your references within the article. otherwise, they do not properly belong in Wikipedia. Many thanks, Lynbarn 09:52, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Lynbarn, I know those titles go with the office of Prime Minister but I don't think they are really important and they just clutter the introduction imo. If someone clicks on Prime Minister of the United Kingdom they will see what other titles go with that. Regards Gustav von Humpelschmumpel 00:14, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
sockpuppets of StealBoy and IPs
Hi. Say, I'm wondering if you know something I don't know. When you said you checked all IPs in the range, I'm guessing you don't mean you scanned the whole thing by hand. Is there any way to view the list of IPs which have edited Wikipedia? In any case, if you know any other IP adresses in the problematic ranges that have the same pattern, please let me know and/or add them to the checkuser case. Thanks, Pascal.Tesson 23:05, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- No, sadly, I got so annoyed at his (or her) edits, that I did go through them manually!!! Unfortunately, I didn't make a note of them, but there were only a few (103 was the one in use at the time) and I think you've got most of them. If I find any more, now I know where to postthem! Regards, Lynbarn 23:14, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ah! well I admire your patience. Actually, I did go through the first 5 or 6 before giving up. It's actually easier to just fish them out of edit histories of pages where that idiot has been most active. In any case, thanks for your help. Pascal.Tesson 23:28, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I just thought that some people who are not familiar with the UK might get confused with the role of the Scottish Parliament and its relation to the UK parliament. Gustav von Humpelschmumpel 23:40, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Hello Lynbarn, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:UWE logo2.gif) was found at the following location: User:Lynbarn. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Please note that it is possible that the image on your page is included vie a template or usebox. In that case, please find a free image for the template or userbox. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 06:02, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
- Waiting for confirmation (or otherwise) from UWE that I can use this image. Lynbarn 09:18, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

You asked:
Is there a warning template against putting yourself into notable people from... sections on various place articles?
I suspect an IP editor 81.96.71.55 is doing this for self-promotion reasons (search Google for Steve Oliver the pod, then see cached wikipedia article, now deleted) or [1]. Regards, Lynbarn 12:18, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, I peeked at Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace and think you might want to try {{subst:uw-ad1}} or some higher level if the guy escalates. Good luck! --KNHaw (talk) 20:31, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- Many thanks - that seemed to work! Lynbarn 20:50, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Kent - railways
Hi, No problem, I just wondered why you removed the RH&DR photo from this section. Was there something wrong with it? Regards, Lynbarn 22:27, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- There wasn't room for it. Text had to be sandwiched in between the two images, which isn't allowed according to WP:MOS guidelines. Epbr123 22:35, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I can see that was a problem. Will have to add some more text to make room for the image! Thanks! Lynbarn 08:15, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:UWE logo2.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:UWE logo2.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:44, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

L&B - various
Hi - I hope this finds you well! I have a couple of questions for you on the Lynton and Barnstable Railway. Firstly, I was the editor who wrote the article on engineer James Szlumper, and noticed while creating his bio that on his CV was the engineering for a Lynton to Minehead railway, which I assume never got off the ground - do you know any more? Secondly, I have got quite engaged with the German tool to create route maps for various railways - I have just completed one for the South Wales Railway - would it be useful to create one for the L&B? With Best Regards, - Trident13 09:42, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hi and thanks for the input - I saw the link to J Szlumper on the L&B page before the article appeared! The Lynton to Minehead was, I understand, a proposal, but nothing ever got built - If I can find out any more, I'll let you know. I too have been experimenting with the route maps, and have almost completed one for the L&B - which I hope to make into a template and incorporate it into severalL&B-related pages - it isn't quite as complex as the South Wales! Thanks again, Regards, Lynbarn 10:42, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Bad Cat!
Hi - could I ask you to comment out or remove Category:UK railway maps from User:Lynbarn/Sandbox/L&BRouteMap please. It is a user page appearing in an article category (see WP:CAT#User namespace and WP:CAT#Keep cats out of the sandbox. Many thanks. – Tivedshambo (talk) 10:36, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Oops! sorry - it's not quite ready yet - I will add it to templates when it is complete. Thanks for pointing that out - it's fixed now. Regards, Lynbarn 11:04, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
The category for railway line templates has now changed. If you add <noinclude>{{UK-railway-routemap}}</noinclude> (instead of Category:UK railway maps) to the template when it's complete, it will automatically categorise it for you, and also add a link to Wikipedia:Railway line template. – Tivedshambo (talk) 21:45, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Controlling thumbnail sizes
Click "Special:Preferences" at the top of the page. Goto the "File" tab. Here you will see an option to set the default thumbnail size. This works whenever a thumbnail size is not manually specified. There is some good guidance on when you should use thumbnail sizes in WP:MOS#Images e.g. when displaying a map or an image with an odd aspect ratio. Hope this helps. --Cheesy Mike 08:12, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
