Baseball season

Hello Spartytime, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that you were moving individual baseball season articles to capitalize the word "season"- for future reference, it is unnecessary and you shouldn't do it. Don't worry about going back to change it, I will fix that. Good luck contributing to Wikipedia, jj137 02:25, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, that was my first real editing spree on Wikipedia and I didn't know stuff like that didn't matter. Excuse my newbiness, please! =DSpartytimeTalkMy Wikia 13:20, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Hey, don't worry about it. When I first started here, I really had no clue what was going on, and I didn't know it, but I was only making things worse! :o Don't worry, the more you stay on here the more you'll learn. :) jj137Talk 17:58, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
P.S. Cool signature!

The following talk took place on Jaranda's talk page.

Hey Jaranda, just wondering, but why did the 2005 Cincinnati Reds season get put up for deletion? I'm just wondering, because I'm willing to add to the article to 'keep it alive'. It would really help if you could help me with this! :-D jj137 02:57, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned AFD, didn't nominated it. Jaranda wat's sup 16:23, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

What does "Orphaned AFD" mean? jj137 20:19, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Reds seasons

Hi there! I'm willing to help you out on this, but I ask you this; Do you plan on only doing the Reds? I ask because I've noticed that your a Reds fan (most likely), thanks! Soxrock 16:14, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Ok, I'm willing to help on anything. Just remember that I have so many things on my "Laundry List" that I don't even mention some of them, so I won't be avaliable every second. Soxrock 16:40, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Ok, I'll alert you on that stuff if I don't want to do them. I just wasn't going to crowd that list, so I added relevant things there. Again, thanks Soxrock 16:53, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi there! I noticed you created WikiProject Cincinnati Reds and I am very willing to join. I created an article for every individual Reds season already. You don't mind if I help you out with the to-do and this article? Thanks! jj137 2:49, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I'd love for you to join and contribute in any way! The project has a long way to go, so anything you can do to advance it will be greatly appreciated. (Mind meal 02:53, 7 August 2007 (UTC))
No problem! I'm a huge Reds fan, so I will contribute to any Reds-related article in any way that I can. I'm sure many more people will join this WikiProject over time, so the articles will only get better! jj137 2:56, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Redirects

Hi Jj137. I hope that you do not mind, but I have just deleted a handful of redirects that you created including "Cincy rds baby" and "Cincy reds uh yeah". Please only create that redirects that will be significantly useful to other people, and bear in mind that "Redirects from implausible typos, misnomers, or other very unlikely search terms" may be deleted at any time. Redirects from misspelling or miscapitalizations may be worthwhile for aiding search and navigation, but combinations of 2 or more errors in a single redirect title are generally not. All the best ×Meegs 18:52, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the help, I was getting a bit carried a way! :-) jj137 19:55, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Template cleanup

A few templates you created, 2006 cincy reds game log, 2006 cincinnati reds season game log', and 2006 cincinnati reds season game log, have been marked for deletion as deprecated and orphaned templates. If, after 7 days, there have been no objections, the templates will be deleted. If you wish to object to their deletion, please list your objections here and feel free to remove the {{db-deprecated}} tag from the templates. If you have no objections regarding the deletion, no further action is necessary. Thanks for your attention. --MZMcBride 17:55, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Rest assured, just the redirects. Cheers. --MZMcBride 00:16, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Bible verses etc.

Hi there! I came across the "List of chapters and verses in the Bible" pages and would be willing to help! Let me know if that sounds OK. Thanks! jj137 2:47, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi, my vision was that there would be a link for each verse which would redirect if appropriate to the chapter, passage or book. The various bible projects, however, have gone with a different scheme for references, which goes to an external site to provide the text from an appropriate version of the bible. In my view this is limiting, although useful, because the tapestry of links between passages and from text to commentary is broken. The lists themselves, are really of more use in user or project space as a tool to check which verses have article/redirects in place. Also worth knowing is that there seems to be a prejudice against the current ordering of the bible in books, chapters and verses, in favour of subject matter and pericopes (stories/passages). Clearly chapters and verses were added later by systemitisers, nonetheless chapter and verse is how people refer to the Bible. In summary thanks for the offer, I am not currently doing anything with these lists, although I may one day. You are of course welcome to use them for your own purposes. Rich Farmbrough, 10:19 13 August 2007 (GMT).
OK, that sounds fine. jj137 14:12, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Manager templates

Please stop bolding names on the baseball manager templates (Tigers, Blue Jays, etc). It's unnecessary. The manager's name is automatically bolded in the template when viewing his page. Forcing the bold is counter-intuitive. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Averyisland (talkcontribs) 14:49, 13 August 2007 (UTC).

OK, it really wasn't making a difference, the only reason I was doing it was because it noted the active manager. jj137 16:19, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

WikiProjects

Hi! As a member of WikiProject Cincinnati Reds, I must ask: to create that WikiProject, did you have to propose the idea and wait for it to be granted? Can you just create it or do you have to propose the idea? I was thinking about making a WikiProject and didn't really know how to do it. Thanks! jj137Talk 16:33, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

No the only time you should propose a project instead of creating it is if you are completely in the dark on how to create one. In that case, you would make the proposal at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals. You can also see if someone has already proposed the idea you are thinking of creating there, and then remove it once created. Otherwise, it is usually easiest if you model the project you want to create off of another similar project. This link will be helpful in understanding what creating a new project may entail: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Council/Guide. The "toughest" part is simply creating the templates and making a bunch of project-related categories, like you see at Category:WikiProject Cincinnati. If you have any questions while making the project you plan to create, feel free to ask me. (Mind meal 16:41, 13 August 2007 (UTC))
Thanks for the help with that. I was sort of 'in the dark', but now I think I know what I'm doing. jj137Talk 16:46, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
What project are you planning? (Mind meal 16:51, 13 August 2007 (UTC))
I was thinking about a WikiProject for the Boston Red Sox. jj137Talk 16:53, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Treason! Just kidding. That project should have no problems so far as passing the sniff test for deletionists is concerned. Good luck. (Mind meal 16:57, 13 August 2007 (UTC))
Don't worry, I still will be working loads on WikiProject Cincinnati Reds. The other WikiProject was just an idea- I may never do it, but if I ever do, it would help if I knew how. :-) jj137Talk 17:00, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Message

Thanks for the welcome message. Don't know if this is anything you take an interest in, but I'm trying to figure out the right format for image as part of album info box. I'm not exactly an images expert, have mainly done writing so far. So this is first attempt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genesis_(The_Gods_album). Not sure how to get rid of text above the cover - it's redundant. Maybe you can advise.Tiger Eye 27 01:58, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi! No problem with the welcome, it's just nice to be friendly sometimes =) You can go here to see all new users, if you want to greet them yourself (you can use
{{Welcome}}
or the template I used). Also, I never have really attempted at images, but it looks fine to me. You might want to find somebody who has uploaded a bunch of images and see what they think. Cheers! jj137Talk 2:11, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

I just joined the red sox project. one thing I noticed is that the short cut for the project is WP:Boston Red Sox. I also think we should use WP:BOSOX and maybe WP:MLB/BOS. New England Review Me! 18:28, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi! I got your message, and thanks for joining. Those shortcuts sound great to make, and feel free to help out with the templates, WP, etc. Message me if you have any questions. Thanks! jj137Talk 1:47, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I just changed a user template so you could see the Sox logo on it. I've been a few wikiprojects, but none that were this new. I feel bad for whoever has to add the new talkpage template to existing pages, but I'm going to start on it (it gets my edit count up at least). New England Review Me! 07:01, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks so much for fixing that- I couldn't figure out exactly how. And about the talkpage templates, that's not a major priority, but it should be done at some point. And I agree with you- it would really boost your edit count. I'll try to add any I come across. jj137Talk 16:07, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
I like the picture on the templates, but the colors needed changing. I'm probably going to make an invitation template (similar to the NBA projects). I have question on the scope of this project though; do players like Pedro Martínez and Nomar Garciaparra fall under our scope? New England Review Me! 17:00, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, those players should get the template on their talk page. I looked on some other players (from other teams) and they had the team WikiProjects on their talk pages. An invitation template would be a good idea, I can work on/help out with that. jj137Talk 18:14, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Amazing!

Amazing! Eleven edits in a single minute, that's simply brilliant. Congratulations, and all the best. jj137Talk 15:02, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Hmm? I'm just making use of Firefox's tabs. TTN 15:04, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Ahh...that would make sense. Where do you find it (I can't remember exactly where)? jj137Talk 15:30, 18 August 2007

Hi, I saw you made a lot of work on this project. Are you a member? If so, I can add your name. jj137Talk 21:32, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

No, but that's OK. I just happened to have interest in a few Red Sox, so I wanted to add them to your list. Good luck! Thanks anyway.--Epeefleche 23:44, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Having trouble with the {{Boston Red SoxWikiProject-Member}} thing

I would love to join this project, but I can't get the thing on my page correctly, therefore I'm not apart of the project. How can I get that thing on my page so I can officially join. --HPJoker 03:39, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I was able to fix that for you. That really wasn't the thing that made you an "official member", adding your name to the list of editors probably would be. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I added your name to the list of editors. Thanks! jj137Talk 13:37, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Deconstructive Edit

Please tell me which edit was not constuctive??? --Demyx9 14:34, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, I just saw you removed several comments on Talk:Durmstrang. This wasn't major at all, just wanted to give you a heads-up that you shouldn't do that. Thanks, jj137Talk 18:51, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up but, that was to remove an insult!!!
--Demyx9 18:57, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh, it was an earlier edit. I reviewed over it more thouroughly and think you did the right thing. Terribly sorry...please forgive me! jj137Talk 23:42, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

What I took out in the Twelver article I moved to the Usooli one, because it only applies to Usoolis. Thanks. --Enzuru 02:30, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, and sorry, I didn't mean to undo your revision. It was the revision right before yours I was attempting to undo, and you changed the page right before I got the revision before yours undone. Thanks for alerting me of that. jj137Talk 02:37, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh, glad we figured that out! Take care. --Enzuru 02:38, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Reply from Jonathan

Hi... do you think you could help explain to me how to use/run WP:TW? I'm new to it and can't seem to figure it out. Thanks! -jj137Talk 20:49, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Do you see a few buttons below your username? That's TW. Here's a quick list of the terms:
  • User and user talk pages
    • ARV (Report a vandal)
    • WARN (Warn a vandal)
  • Images
    • DI (Delete image)
  • General buttons you see everywhere
    • CSD (Request speedy deletion)
    • LAST (Last edit's diff)
    • RPP (Request page protection)
    • XFD (Anything for deletion)
There you go, and I hope that helps you! See ya around! Jonathan I like to eat science textbooks. 21:13, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I have another question hopefully you can answer. Whenever I click any of the "new" buttons, they don't seem to work. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks terribly so for your time and patience. -jj137Talk 22:19, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Which browser do you use? Last I knew, Twinkle was known not to work with Internet Explorer. — TKD::Talk 21:22, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Ohhh...I feel so stupid...I have Internet Explorer. I need to read the directions next time. Thanks for the help! -jj137TalkContribs 21:24, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
No problem. The number of nice JavaScript tools that do not work with IE is the reason that I mostly use Firefox for editing Wikipedia. But I still keep IE (as well as Safari) around to check for compatibility issues. — TKD::Talk 21:28, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Test edit?

Here you said I made a test edit, however I was actually reverting a test edit... Huh? CoJaBo 21:46, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Ha ha yes, I do! I guess I've spent more time here though fixing up the baseball articles. -jj137TalkContribs 00:46, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for the clarification. I've recently gotten my 8000th edit there (last Saturday) Soxrock 00:47, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Whoa! I don't even have that many edits here (around 5300). -jj137TalkContribs 01:49, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

I thought of an idea. While you try to work on all of these articles, would you mind if I got started on some of the game logs for them? -jj137TalkContribs 03:33, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

I guess. I mean, the game logs hold no copyrights, you can model them after the 2007 game logs (whats so funny about the whole controversy anyway is that what is the difference between the MLB team schedule and an NFL one? Catch my drift? Soxrock 14:45, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
I think I understand. What you mean is that the game logs aren't really required, but they're interesting. -jj137TalkContribs 15:50, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Kinda, but that wasn't what I was getting at. I was saying that game logs are do not require special permission from the MLB. My comparison with the NFL ones is this: Look at 1985 New England Patriots season. Game log there for 4 months, right? No questions about it? But the 1993 Marlins game log was deleted hours after it was created due to potential copyvios. But talking with Sean Forman of B-R, he confirmed that they are NOT copyrighted. Just a note, I'd actually create the logs on the article, and, when finished, then put them in a template, so if it got deleted, you could easily get the log back. Soxrock 16:59, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
All right, thanks for the help. -jj137TalkContribs 17:17, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Hold on, so it got deleted for copyvio even though there is no copyright on it, right? Also, possibly because it wasn't a template. -jj137TalkContribs 17:21, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Wait, I may have you confused. At the time (07/23/2007), Jaranda deleted it citing "copyvios." On the 16th of August, I talked with B-R, and it was confirmed that Jaranda was wrong, that game logs are perfectly allowable (if you have e-mail, I can forward you the message).
Now, the 1993 Marlins article was not deleted, the 1993 Marlins game log was. Thanks for the help Soxrock 17:45, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
All right, I get it. Thanks!-jj137TalkContribs 19:25, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi. Don't mind my asking, but is there really much prospect of us finding any poetry that can be shown to have been written in 530. Wouldn't it be better to just have decade or even century articles when you go this far back? Deb 21:30, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Well...I'm not sure yet. If you look at List of years in poetry, you will see there is an article for almost every year, and just about every one of those have at least one event. Chances are, eventually something will be added. I'm pretty sure WP:POETRY is trying to get an article and have at least one event for each year. I'm just trying to help by making some of those articles. Thanks -jj137 TalkContribs 21:36, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh yes, I realise I'm picking on 530 at random. It just seems funny to have the poetry year articles going that far back when there isn't even one for literature. Deb 21:39, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm sure there will be eventually... :) -jj137 TalkContribs 22:44, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Oley Hills site

Hi,

thank you for capitalizing Oley Hills. I would like the title to be "Oley Hills site" but don't know how to change the title. The term Oley Hills refers to a geographical area and would need a disambiguation page if used for this stone site, too.

Wikification

Hi - please note that it is not helpful to mark articles such as Danny O'Connor (politician) or Gunnar Ekstrand as requiring Wikification, when they are already Wikified. While they would benefit from expansion, or perhaps from the addition of sections, infoboxes, etc, should you feel these issues need addressing, they have their own tags. Can you give me a little help here? My monobook is the speedy category and the only way I can figure out how to get rid of it there is to add <nowiki> to my monobook but then it basically makes everything else there null-and-void. Thanks -jj137 T/C 02:25, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Is there something in particular that you want cleaned up in this article? I have just started writing it and I find the clean up tag a bit annoying. Additions yes, but clean up? Silverchemist 03:41, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Now the article looks great. At the time I tagged it it may have needed a bit of work, but it looks fine now. Sorry about how long it took to get back to you. -jj137 T/C 19:33, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
No problem. Glad to hear you think it looks okay now. I still have some material to add. Silverchemist 19:51, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Oh sure- very seldom do you ever see a new article look that nice. It shows you must have put a lot of work, effort, and time into it. (That's probably something I should try harder at in the future). Best of luck with it. -jj137 T/C 20:02, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
