Disruptive edits by MarkPC

Hello Jj137,

I found that you warned MarkPC (talk · contribs) for edit-warring on article Devadasi. He has now resorted to using various socks and proxies to push his point of view. A user check revealed that he is a sock of a banned user and was banned but then he somehow seems to have fooled the admins into giving him a second life [1]. As of yesterday he has resumed the reverts on article Devadasi and has been removing references and edits by various users. Please see his contributions which are all reverts [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9] and still counting. See the most recent ones: [10], [11]. Patriots

Lol. About the Pats thing... we can't restore the version because that will take away several edits. But I still can't believe the edit. It used to have 46 references but now it has 6.... And it used to be about 10 times longer than it is now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Milk's Favorite Cookie (talkcontribs) 21:00, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Alright, I'll leave him a message. I gotta pack. We either have to delay the RFA or do it earlier because the bad thing is I'm moving on the 15th. Too much of a coincidence, I know. But, I probably won't get internet connection to where I move for about a week. Earlier of delay? - Milk's Favorite Cookie 21:36, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
What do you think? Delay would be good, but the 10 day no edit thing would look pretty bad. I just found out I have over 240 AIV reports :) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 21:38, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

The only thing I can think of is a "Today's Quote" or "Today's Motto" section. It won't take up much space but thats the only thing I can think of right now. If I come up with any more ideas, I'll let you know. Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 03:45, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Harry Gallatin

I thought it was a bit unfair of you to characterize Fork Stab (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log)'s edits as vandalism. In my opinion, he made a good faith edit, and even went to the trouble of notifying the community of his upcoming edits on the discussion page. At the very least, you could help educate a newbie on the ways of Wikipedia as he requested on the discussion page rather than discouraging him by labeling his edit as vandalism. — Myasuda (talk) 05:23, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm assuming the external links he placed at the bottom were references? Sorry, I didn't see those immediately.   jj137 (talk) 15:34, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Once again, thank you very much for your userpage design. I just changed my userpage and I think it looks much better. I still need to customize some of the links, colors, etc. and add some content, but I still think it looks really cool. Thanks, dude.   jj137 (talk) 15:47, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

  • RGB is a standard for setting the color of well, whatever it is attached to. It allows the user to give values for R(ed) G(reen) and B(lue). These values van range from 0-255 and allow creating about every color in the color spectrum. If you want to change the color of anything, just alter the values for RGB. Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 15:55, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Aah, OK. Do the three values all contribute to a single color? (Sorry, I'm no expert on this.)   jj137 (talk) 15:57, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Yes they do. Setting it to 255,0,0 would create pure red, 0,255,0 would create green, and 255,255,255 is white. RGB are simply the three prime colors, and the values indicate how much of it is mixed for the total color. The higher the value, the more that is being mixed. A simply way to add the colors you want to the page is opening Windows Paint (Assuming your on a windows machine) and then going into the color customizing mode. This will display a color palette, which will indicate the RGB values of the colors in it. Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 16:03, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Aah, OK, I understand now. :) Thanks.   jj137 (talk) 16:07, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Chotoku Kiyan was a master of Shorin Ryu. This should be noted on his Wiki page. He was one of the primary teachers to master Shimabuku, of Isshin Ryu. I know this because I practice this style. It is well documented.

A question

Yesterday, while reverting vandalism, I saw someone vandalizing several categories that list suspected sock puppets. After I got him a few times, he proceeded to curse his face off on the categories' talk pages. I put a db-attack on the talk pages. My question is, should I put a talk page up for speedy deletion if someone creates it to attack people? Or should I just erase the swearing? J.delanoygabsadds 20:16, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

If a talk page is created only for vandalism or an attack, you can put a speedy tag on it.   jj137 (talk) 20:18, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

bobby farrell nonsense

Greetings! Long time no see. I'm sure you remember our long discussion concerning 'gayforpay' clause. :))

Well, I require your services... again. I'm sorry, but there's this nutjob (John(?)) editor who wishes to delete the image from the page - and I don't have any problems with that - while he also deletes "our" favorite sentense/link without any explanations, sort of just along for the ride. This is bs, as he also left me some fake warning message concerning reverting his vandalism. Please intervene when you get a chance. I just need that specific link to stay on the page and I don't care of he alters other things as long as he does not touch the link. Thanks again! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.144.182.235 (talk) 22:39, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey jj137! :)) Looks like the fool just revealed itself... and lied about re-insertions, because I did not reinsert anything after his tirade: this s.o.b. just blocked the page after dropping the link arbitrarily - check the log on the article. Motor Car Market deletion

Hi, we were just looking to follow up on the original post regarding the deletion of our magazine after being out of town. We didn't see it in the archives. Would it be possible to circle back on the topic? Quick recap, we are founded by people that came from Automobile Magazine and attempted to write the piece based on their entry and other car magazine entries. Our website is http://www.motorcarmarket.com Thanks, StickwithRWD (talk) 00:33, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Please do not share this account with multiple people. Accounts are meant for one person. Also keep in mind that Wikipedia is not for advertising of any sort. Thanks. --  jj137 (talk) 01:58, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Sorry? Oh... I'm helping our company with this, therefore the "we". It's a team effort here but only one person is using the account. Thanks again for the reply. I totally understand the not for advertising. When we, I, originally posted the write up, I hit save, and within the minute, went back to edit it further but it was already blocked. I was pretty confused what happened. Tried to "hang on" but my account was shut down all within five minutes. It actually felt very unfair after hours of research and writing the article within Wikipedia, which was lost. Is there some automatic screener that searches for key words and blocked everything? Or did some one read it, look at the magazine's website and make a decision on it in that short time frame? As I mentioned, and I'm really trying to understand sorry for long response, we replicated Automobile Magazine, the style of entry with the facts of the content in an attempt to avoid any confusion with advertising. In addition, tied in relevant links to other entries as recommended when building an entry. I'm happy to resubmit under this new user or take any steps you recommend. Thanks again,68.5.46.22 (talk) 03:34, 27 February 2008 (UTC) Hi, I'm not sure why my sign-in didn't registered when I replied last night so I just wanted to reply with my correct user id. JJ, I need your help

I've been vandalized many times today under bogus pretext of non-existent violations - all in the name of personal vendetta waged upon me by a user/admin with a questionable behavior. As you may see from your discussion page log - I did not raise my finger on you a single time. In the process I've been blocked countless times today by the afore mentioned user - all in blatant violation of wiki policies, and yet he got away with them all. I think you understand that I did not come here to start any problems, let alone problems with you. We had a previously achieved mutual agreement, and I have no intentions of violating that. I only requested your services on the page that we've worked on together before. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.144.176.207 (talk) 22:29, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Radziejow

You said my changes were unconstructive? Please explain to me how the following paragraph is a constructive addition to a town entry?

"After the war, survivors who returned to Radziejów found that all Jewish-owned houses had been taken over by Poles. Survivors were afraid to remain because Polish groups were killing Jewish survivors, including a returning Jewish father and son in nearby Osięciny[5]."

"all Jewish-owned houses" Every single one? Can this be proved? Sources?

What do people from "nearby Oscieciny" have to do with Radziejow??

The entry reads just fine without these lines, they add absolutely nothing to the conversation. They were added by someone with a bias, there is even a link to the Wiki from their website. Biased.

Morever, look at source 4: ^ Excerpt of Speilberg Foundation video Holocaust testimony of Ben Neuman. Retrieved on 2007-05-21. Visit the website www.polandinjustice.com, who authored this portion of the wiki. This person is adding a source that is his own father's testimony. Is this not bias?

Can you please either protect or resolve this issue for the Radzijow entry? I am removing some lines which do add anything to the entry and which are obviously biased, as explained here and on that page. The other author, however, continues to revert the changes for which the main source is his FATHER. They have added nothing to the discussion, nor any reason for the reversion. Please advise. Can you do anything about this edit war? It's getting old already. Thanks

We have 9 members now! A new record! I'll try to get started on the newsletter. BTW, I see you semi-protected your user talk-page. (Can't blame you.) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 00:07, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

That's great. Actually, I didn't semiprotect my talk page (FCYTravis did), but it was for good reason.   jj137 (talk) 20:59, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Oh. The above online/offline thing seems to work :) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 21:00, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
You may want to check out this user. Several blocks. And he/she violated the 3 revert rule several times. (Someone beat me to reporting) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 21:40, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Ok, now he she just violated another 3RR. - Milk's Favorite Cookie 21:42, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Footballfan190 adminship

How many edits do you think I should make before becoming an administrator. Footballfan190 (talk) 02:03, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

I would say at least 2000-3000 edits.   jj137 (talk) 03:08, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

What should I do?

Here a user is asking me to change my AFD decision. Thanks in advance! --ChetblongT C 02:47, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

That looks like a consensus to keep to me. If that user wants the article deleted, they can open another AFD, but there is no reason you should overturn your decision and delete it.   jj137 (talk) 03:07, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. ChetblongT C 03:08, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

DYK?

DYK:

  • ...that you have created exactly 1486 articles, the last one was Johnny Marcum on 02/10/2008 at 01:13:02??
  • ...that you have created exactly 308 redirects the last one was Boston red sox alltime roster on 02/24/2008 at 05:13:44?

It seems to be getting shorter every day (or its just me), Imagine it being today's FA, and imagine how the front page would look. (Now, I kinda laugh) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 03:19, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Check it out! - Milk's Favorite Cookie 03:25, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Lol. I'm going to remove it now (noooooooooooooooo...!). Pretty positive its breaking a rule. - Milk's Favorite Cookie 03:34, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
No, as I remember from a MFD discussion you can't have an article or the main page in your userspace... - Milk's Favorite Cookie 03:36, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Wow, two things in one day. Now I feel really special! - Milk's Favorite Cookie 03:41, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
It's like I'm talking to someone else. Similar Story: A week ago, I was playing Halo 3 on 360, and I meet this guy who says he can kill me easily. I was like yeah, you're a commander (that's pretty good). So thinking that I'm screwed I played him, and beat him 25-1. And you know what he said at the end?: "I shouldn't have gone on my brother's account" (I really have no idea how that connects, but heck, thought I should tell you) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 03:45, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Decent. But I know a couple of kids at school who could kill me with their eyes closed. But I know a lot of kids who I can kill with my eyes closed :) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 03:48, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
If you were to ask really good. I'm awesome, really good, extremely good, on Madden 08. That's how I got a lot of the money back I lost from (you know....) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 03:52, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, people do that. But after a while it gets boring. And no, I've never done that. Except for this one kid at least. Yesterday, he was playing from 4pm to 3am which is really paranoid. And I can GUARANTEE you that he's playing right now. (Halo - the only game he plays) And, no, that's not me. - Milk's Favorite Cookie 03:54, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Guitar Hero? What system do you have it for? It's really addictive. - Milk's Favorite Cookie 03:56, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
I have a PS2 as well. (I played it once every year though.) Mostly 360 and Wii. - Milk's Favorite Cookie 03:59, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Have you ever tried playing Call of Duty on the Wii? - Milk's Favorite Cookie 04:02, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
I just got the Wii (somehow) on Saturday, so not bored yet. Call of Duty's really hard to play on the Wii... - Milk's Favorite Cookie 04:04, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Do you have a 360? - Milk's Favorite Cookie 04:12, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

My XBOX, and my PS2 sit in the corner (I haven't played them timm at least last year) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 04:16, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

LOL. I'm going to try playing Madden on the Wii tomorrow, I still haven't gotten a chance. BTW, my status won't show up for some reason. If you edit my talk page, it's the first thing on top. Can you take a look. (I know it's because of the logo, but I also know there is a way...) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 04:20, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Look at it now. That's the best I can do. Chetblong seems to be getting it to work fine. - Milk's Favorite Cookie 04:26, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Nah, I don't really want it that much. BTW, did you edit my userpage yet? - Milk's Favorite Cookie 04:31, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Just press "edit" on my userpage :) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 16:00, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

He fell into a bush. Huggle's gotten pretty boring now (finally) It's only fun in the morning and night. (When no one's using it :)) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 16:11, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Maybe they finally gave up? If they are, there seems to be 20 people huggle at the same time That's when skill counts. - Milk's Favorite Cookie 16:13, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah. (Now I feel bad for beating Cluebot ) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 16:15, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Template deletion

Some time ago you deleted {{Mario Kart series}} (due to a nomination at TFD). I believe this nomination and discussion was flawed because the template itself was, as I understand it, never tagged for deletion (or if it was, it was tagged only after being up for deletion at TFD for a number of days). My request is to have the template (and associated talk page) undeleted and a new discussion started at TFD. BTW, sorry I didn't get to this sooner, that'll teach me to not pay attention (or rather, to try to pay attention to too many things at one time). —Locke Coletc 03:42, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

I checked - the template was tagged for deletion.   jj137 (talk) 03:52, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Strange, at the TFD discussion another editor indicated it wasn't tagged until days after the TFD was initiated. Can you verify this statement was incorrect? Thanks. =) —Locke Coletc 05:12, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
It was in fact tagged 11 minutes before the TfD was initiated, and removed by an IP about two days later:
  • 00:32, 2 January 2008 (diff) . . Dream out loud (Talk | contribs | block) (761 bytes) (TfD) - this is where it was added.
  • 18:58, 3 January 2008 (diff) . . 71.240.174.67 (Talk | block) (648 bytes) - this is where it was removed.

Viacom Page protection request made at WP:RPP

I requested page protection there because it appears the same IP switching vandal is back again. Momusufan (talk) 16:25, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

The IP is blocked.   jj137 (talk) 16:27, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
I was thinking the same, but then I saw that similar edits were coming from different IPs in a similar range. Check the history. Rudget. 16:47, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
I'll do a little more digging, and if I can't find anything I'll unprotect it. Rudget. 16:52, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I've just seen this (the history, set it to 100) - this pattern of editing stretches back to December by numerous IPs. Protection seems the only way to prevent this disruptive editing. Regards, Rudget. 16:55, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject College football March 2008 Newsletter (full contents)

The College football WikiProject Newsletter
Issue IV - March 2008
Project news
  • SatyrBot is now delivering weekly updates to the Wikiproject College Football to-do list. Have a few minutes, but don't want to start a whole new article? Check out the to-do list and knock one or two items off. If everyone pitches in, it'll go a long way towards making Wikiproject College Football the best source for college football information on the Internet.
  • Gwguffey has created a series of navigation boxes for college football stadiums for every state in the United States. If you're creating an article about a new stadium or updating a current article about a stadium, be sure to include one. It'll make the page more useful to readers, and they look darn nice, too.
  • SatyrBot assessed approximately 4,300 previously-unassessed college football articles. There are still over 1,500 unassessed articles out there, so if you get a chance, feel free to lend a hand.
  • If it becomes necessary to use an archaic name for a university, link to the modern name and/or Wikipedia page. Example: Virginia Polytechnic Institute. This is particularly common in articles dealing with subjects prior to the separation of NCAA divisions in the 1970s. (Discussion)
  • A motion to create a Wikiproject High School Football has been brought up on the talk page.
  • Editors are reminded that any template that automatically includes a fair-use image (such as a university logo) will be automatically deleted by Wikipedia. Instead, create a general template that asks the user to select the logo rather than automatically including the logo inside the template.
From JKBrooks85

Welcome to the latest issue of the College football WikiProject newsletter! I hope that you're enjoying regular updates about the goings on of college football on Wikipedia, but if not, feel free to add your name to the "no delivery" section on the newsletter signup page.

I encourage everyone to make regular visits to the College Football Portal and perhaps make it your Wikipedia entry page instead of using the Main Page as your gateway. Nominations for selected articles and pictures are always welcome, and can serve as a great way to show off that new article you just shepherded to Good Article status or the great picture you took the last time you were at a game.

Comments and suggestions on improving the newsletter are always welcome, and help me improve it on a monthly basis. Keep contributing and editing, and don't hesitate to contact me or post on the College Football Wikiproject talk page if you need help or just want someone to look over your article.

I just finished playing Madden on the Wii. I won 72 - 3. (But, then again... I faced the Raiders...) The commentary is horrible. In the beginning they said:"John, we have been waiting for this matchup all week. The two best teams, this is to be a great game" In the end: "John, we knew the outcome before the game even began..." - Milk's Favorite Cookie 00:43, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey

Question, when you said I needed more WP edits; how many did you have in mind? RC-0722 communicator/kills 04:40, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

There is no exact amount. You have 2407 edits right now (I just checked), and I would say at least 2000-3000, so you're in good shape.   jj137 (talk) 04:42, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, I remember you said I need more edits to WP related articles; thats what I meant. Or did I misunderstand you? RC-0722 communicator/kills 04:44, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
OK, I'll try that. Thanks! RC-0722 communicator/kills 04:49, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
