MLB standings templates

[edit]

I have started a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Baseball § Usage of standings templates to remind everyone of the historical usage of the MLB standings templates. Seeds and clinching information has not in the past been hardcoded within the template; it is only shown in the MLB season article, and so that article uses the "seeds" and "highlight" parameters for the templates. Any feedback you may have for the discussion on the WikiProject Baseball talk page is welcome. isaacl (talk) 06:03, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deshaun Watson Trade

[edit]

The Deshaun Watson trade has been confirmed by the NFL via “NFL.com” which is as about as reliable as it could possibly be. can we change his team on his wiki page? Red boat96 (talk) 22:31, 18 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

like what HappyBoi3892 (talk) 00:13, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Tyreek Hill trade is the most recent one I've seen. Even after it was confirmed by the NFL and both teams, you changed his team back to K.C.

That being said, I've seen your name pop up changing stuff back for no real reason.

Looks like Deshaun Watson was one too. NFL had confirmed Browns, and you changed it back to Texans. McDoub1e (talk) 11:27, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

When you made your edits, you used a non-reliable source from a reporter. The policy on Wikipedia is that we must wait for the teams themselves to announce the signing, not insiders like Schefter. The reason we do this is because there have been trades that get reported but fall threw and never happen (see WP:SPORTSTRANS for examples). If you do not like our guidelines here at Wikipedia, you're welcome to go play somewhere else. HappyBoi3892 (talk) 16:11, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thanks for contributing to the article 2022 NBA Finals. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. Please help by adding more sources to the article you edited, and/or by clarifying how the sources already given support the claims (see here for how to do inline referencing). If you need further help, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia, or ask at the Teahouse, or just ask me. Thank you. —Bagumba (talk) 05:37, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I didn't see your edit summary of "will add references soon", so I wasn't intending to badger you (above). Even a quick, unformatted citation like <ref>https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/34029326/resilient-boston-celtics-make-first-seven-3-pointers-4th-quarter-rally-stun-golden-state-warriors-game-1-nba-finals</ref> would be fine, and save you from digging up sources later. The formatting is the easy (though boring) part, and someone will eventualy get to it. Typically 2022 NBA Finals will get nominated for the Main Page at WP:ITNC when the series is over, but unsourced text delays getting it posted, and it's alwasy harder to find the exact source after the fact (esp. if fanboys add incorrect info along the way). Thanks in advance.—Bagumba (talk) 06:24, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Brock Purdy

[edit]

Thanks for rewording my edit on the winning streak in the Brock Purdy article, instead of just reverting it, which seems to be a heavily overused response. You ended up wording it better than I did, without making it sound like Purdy was single handedly responsible for the 10 game winning streak, like the original text had. Chris Paul article recently reverts

[edit]

Hey HappyBoi389, I noticed that you recently made some reverted edits on the Chris Paul article. However, as shown in the article, the addition of the Golden State Warriors as Paul's current team was correct. It seems that, as an Arizona sports fan, you reverted the information that was previously added to the article. I suggest that you refrain from changing the article without having a good understanding and without letting personal bias influence your edits, as it is not allowed to show favoritism towards any particular club in sports articles. Please avoid actions that could potentially lead to your editing privileges being blocked due to these issues. Let the remaining editors handle and update these articles with accurate information. Thanks! Babid (talk) 23:16, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The official nba.com website still shows him on the suns. Your only source is CBS, and not any official article from the team themselves. The new league year isn't until July 1 so no trades are official until then.
There have been MULTIPLE times throughout recent years where trades were reported, but fell through at the last minute (One of them even happened yesterday with the Porziņģis/Brogdon trade). So no, I am not reverting your edits because I'm being "biased".
If you want to learn more, read this: Wikipedia:WikiProject Sports/Handling sports transactions HappyBoi3892 (talk) 23:41, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Article war at Chris Paul article

[edit]

Hi HappyBoi3892, as I viewed, you reverted edits on Chris Paul again with this response: "The official nba.com website still shows him on the suns. Your only source is CBS, and not any official article from the team themselves. The new league year isn't until July 1 so no trades are official until then. If you wanna learn more, read this: Wikipedia:WikiProject Sports/Handling sports transactions", but as I said you previously, as a FAN of the Suns, you don't have permission to chang articles related to players that no longer belong to your team. Stop making stupid moves that doesn't make sense, in this case, makes sense only to YOU and not the public that uses Wikipedia to search information. Stop this. After you make this again, I will block your account to impossibilite you to make edits. It's not the rights place to put your thoughts about the players on a GLOBAL place to people research content. Being honest, not make this again. Thanks! Babid (talk) 23:42, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sam Howell

[edit]

Just for future reference, when would it be appropriate to list career highs for a player? When they have at least 2 full seasons under their belt? ParXivalRPT (talk) 17:43, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I would say at least two seasons with 10 games started or something around there. With Howell it just didn't make sense to have career highs for him when he's only started 1 game outside of this season. HappyBoi3892 (talk) 18:20, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Totally understand, thanks! ParXivalRPT (talk) 22:06, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So, for example, on Nathan Peterman's page, since he's never played a full season, it's not necessary to list his career highs? ParXivalRPT (talk) 22:14, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I personally wouldn't have career highs for Peterman's page, but there isn't really a set guideline for which QBs should have career highs or not. I just believe it's unnecessary for career backup QBS/guys who've never played a full year as the starter to have career highs listed in their statistics. I appreciate u reaching out! HappyBoi3892 (talk) 00:40, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Completely understand. Hopefully my last question: Is there a specific rule in capitalizing the "w" in "Week" for a particular game? I've seen it both ways in multiple articles and I'd like to correct it the way Wikipedia deems it, and have a source stating what the correct way is. Thanks again! ParXivalRPT (talk) 01:08, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I personally like the "w" capitalized, but I usually just keep it the same way as the rest of the article has it to keep it consistent (i.e if an article mainly uses lower case "w", I also put a lower case "w" in new edits).
Again, I honestly have no idea what the guideline for that is, but I'm sure guys like yankees10 and bagumba know more about that then I do lol. HappyBoi3892 (talk) 17:52, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'll ask around, thanks! ParXivalRPT (talk) 03:33, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

NFL Wikipedia policy?

[edit]

Hello,

I want to confirm with you to see where you found the Wikipedia policy about us waiting for the team to announce it. Reason why I’m asking is because I got a notification from my talk page from a user who has been with Wikipedia for 15 years and saying there is no NFL Wikipedia policy and only seems they only went to me and no one else that has been doing it. Currently on phone so really can’t send a direct link to what I am talking about but if you go to my talk page then you will see what I talking about. Hope to hear back and let’s stop these trolls from the NFL and sports. Dash12366 (talk) 13:16, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
