South African?
[edit]Hi. I'm guessing you're South African or otherwise interested in South Africa. You might be interested in making improvements to South Africa-related articles in Category:South Africa or chatting to like-minded editors at Category:Wikipedians in South Africa. If you ever need help editing you can leave me a message on my talk page and I'll be happy to help out. Just remember to sign with four tildes ~~~~ at the end, which the wiki software translates into your signature and date like so: Zunaid©® 13:40, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
RE: How do you do it?
[edit]You wrote on my talk page:
- Hi there!
- How do you revert vandalised pages so quickly. I must be doing it wrong somehow because you are always one step ahead. Is there some non-manual way or am I missing something obvious here?
- Cheers
Thanks for the message. I use Lupin's anti-vandal tool most of the time. It works very well, and it has some nice features (like highlighting any edits from a user that you've already reverted during this session). Once it's installed, just click on one of the four new links in the toolbox at the left side of your page. I usually use "Recent IP edits" (report on edits by users who have not logged in), since the vast majority of vandalism seems to be from those users. The tool will give you buttons to (among other things) see what changed, do a "one-click" revert, and open the user's talk page to leave a warning.
There are supposed to be some other tool coming available soon, but Lupin's does a great job for now.
Thanks for your help in fighting the huge amounts of vandalism on Wikipedia. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you.

Wikimania 2008 in Cape Town
[edit]Hi. Would you be interested in helping to ensure Wikimania 2008 is held in Cape Town? If so, please go to the Cape Town bid page, and sign up on the discussion page. Feel free to dive right in with adding suggestions, or fleshing out the bid! I'd greatly appreciate any help, no matter how small. Greenman 00:03, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 13:51, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Chatsworth Stadium
[edit]Hi there, Just to clarify on the Chatsworth Stadium issue, I had no idea whether it existed or in what form, I just preferred to have an open discussion with people who DO know or can find out definitively rather than simply deleting the article without a discussion. Generally, I see AfD as a great way to improve articles because it attracts attention that would otherwise never be seen. By the way, I see you are from Cape Town? I am going to be there next week for a week (mostly downtown) and would love to get some good pictures for Wikipedia to upload. Any suggestions on buildings, places or other things to try to get photos of in Cape Town? Thanks--Thomas.macmillan (talk) 14:02, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Help on Zulu Wikipedia
[edit]Hi! I've seen that you can speak Zulu and I want to ask you for help on that Wikipedia. Nowadays it's without people working there and, if you help me translating some phrases, we can improve that Wikipedia. Could you help me there, please? --Jeneme (talk) 07:58, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
South African Wikimedia Chapter
[edit]Hi there GetDownAdam. The idea of setting up a local Wikimedia chapter has been discussed by South African Wikipedians (and those associated with other Wikimedia projects) for some time now, and we want to help turn this dream into a reality. There are currently over 25 chapters established around the world, and several more planned and being discussed, but so far, none in Africa. A South African chapter, should it become a reality, would be a continental first. If you're interested in being involved in the creation of a South African Wikimedia Chapter, could you please email me directly :) Thanks, Kaydee 68 (talk) 09:33, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
South African Wikimedia Chapter update and mailing list
[edit]Hi there. Local Wikipedians have set up a mailing list where we will be discussing the formation of a local Wikimedia Chapter in South Africa. Please join the mailing list at this url https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediaza. There is also a page set up on Meta where you can add your name if you're interested to take this idea forward. Check out http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_South_Africa. Thanks Kaydee 68 (talk) 09:21, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Inviting you to WikiAfrica Incubator!
[edit]Hey Adam,
WikiAfrica invites you to support the Africa Incubator
WikiAfrica is pleased to invite you as a self-declared African Wikipedian to evaluate the Africa Incubator. WikiAfrica has created the Africa Incubator to support and assist new authors, as they create their first articles and learn the ins and outs of contributing to Wikipedia.
The Africa Incubator is a ‘soft landing’ for new authors to develop articles that relate to Africa. It assists them in becoming compliant and knowledgeable of Wikipedia principles and rules. Based within the Wikipedia framework, the Africa Incubator is fully interactive and enables feedback, assistance and forums.
This is where we need your help! For the Africa Incubator to be successful, it needs the intervention, interaction and experience of Incubator Mentors. We are looking for a pool of active experienced Wikipedians to consistently participate in ’owning’ the Africa Incubator. Incubator Mentors will assist new comers through the editing process. They will also help test and expand the Africa Incubator, and will play a vital role in encouraging newcomers to be Wikipedians for life
Please visit WikiAfrica Incubator to give us your honest feedback and evaluation. WikiAfrica is a ground-breaking project that is designed to Africanise Wikipedia by generating and expanding 30,000 articles over two years. Find out more about this project here WikiAfrica. To get involved, contact Francis [[email protected]] Twitter: twitter.com/#!/wikiafrica Facebook: www.facebook.com/WikiAfrica

One in Cape Town at WikiAfrica, at the Africa Centre; and the other for WikiAfrica Cameroon in Douala, at doual’art. If you are interested, please contact either Marilyn [marilyn.doualabelldoualart.org] for the WikiAfrica Cameroon call or Isla [islahfafricacentre.net] for the WikiAfrica position in Cape Town.
If you are not interested in applying, I would be very grateful if you could spread this call far and wide among your networks to ensure that both projects get excellent candidates. Here is the link for the information page: http://www.wikiafrica.net/two-wikipedians-in-residence-for-africa/

Hello and good afternoon (at least it is afternoon where I am). I was looking at the Wikipedian firefighters category and noticed that you are one of the members of the Wikipedia community that lists yourself as being a firefighter. First and foremost let me say thank you for your service. While I myself am not a firefighter, I do work as a photographer with multiple local fire departments. I am honored to have firefighters as some of my closest friends.
I have been taking an active role in the Fire Service WikiProject and am trying to recruit more members to this cause. If this is something you have any interest in, please let me know? You can leave me a message on my talk page. Obviously there is zero obligation. An interest can be anything from helping out with a couple of pages in your local area to helping to overhaul major templates, and anything in between.
Once again, thank you for your service. Hope to hear from you soon. Stay safe! --Zackmann08 (talk) 17:52, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
