[edit]Disambiguation link notification for February 10
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Pratip Munsi, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Indian independence. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

[edit]Hello Finesilpo. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Finesilpo. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Finesilpo|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Please disclose your connection to the Munsi/Munshi family. Netherzone (talk) 20:51, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Finesilpo, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Finesilpo|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. You have been asked to disclose your connection to the articles on the Munsi/Munshi family and extended family, as well as other persons that you have created articles about. The nature of your editing here on WP seems to indicate that you are working directly with paid clients. You need to respond to this inquiry. Netherzone (talk) 15:30, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, I have not only created the articles on the members of Munshi family, but also some other articles as well. Mostly I focus on Indian artists, sculptors and painters. Hence, I am not bound only to creating pages related to Munshi family. I have not been paid by anyone to create those pages. Hence, I honestly have nothing to disclose anything about paid editing. I also request you to kindly remove the 'undisclosed payment', i.e.
tag, from the articles you have paid on the top. It's my humble request. Finesilpo (talk) 15:16, 24 July 2024 (UTC)This user, in accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, discloses that they have been paid by {{{employer}}} for their contributions to Wikipedia. - See message and question below. Request to remove 'undisclosed payment' tag from the article Manu Munsi
[edit]Moving discussion... Hi, I have been creating other articles apart from the members of the Munsi family. Hence, I am not only bound to creating only those pages associated with the members of Munsi/Munshi family. I honestly would like to say that I have never been paid by anyone to create any of the pages. Basically I focus on Indian artists, sculptors and painters, and also Indian fine and visual art. I earnestly request you to remove the 'undisclosed payment' tag from the above-mentioned article. This is my humble request. Finesilpo (talk) 15:31, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Finesilpo, and thank you for reaching out. I'm going to move your note above to your own talk page, where this discussion should take place. We can discuss it further there, and what the actual connection to the Munsi/Munshi family is. I do think you may have a COI, which should be disclosed even if you are not paid, we can talk about it on your talk page, I am happy to familiarize you with the guidelines. Thanks again for reaching out. I'll be moving this shortly. Netherzone (talk) 15:42, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
Finesilpo, most of the many of the photographs in the article, including portraits of him and photos of him at his personal residence, family photos, personal letters and images of his work were uploaded by you as your "own work". Please explain your connection to Manu Munsi. Thank you. Netherzone (talk) 15:11, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, there was a documentary released in the memory of Manu Munsi. Also there was a bengali book released titled 'Munshianay Chollis Purush' authored by Santanu Ghosh in which was actually the biography of the 'Munsi family' and their contributions in Indian visual arts. In this book first I came to know about the individuals of Munsi family. I felt very interested in their unique artworks and contacted the author and the maker of the documentary to get some of his photographs. This is the way I got to manage to get the photographs. Finesilpo (talk) 15:58, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response. Why did you claim that the photographs were your "own work" when they were not?
- You will need to submit proof that the copyrights to these photographs were released under an appropriate license. Meaning anyone can use, change or modify the images, basically it's like the artist releases their rights into the public domain and no longer controls them. A letter or email from the copyright owner would need to be submitted to the appropriate functionaries on WP or WP Commons. Did you upload the directly to WP or to Commons?
- What is the full title, publisher, ISBN number of the Santanu Ghosh book? Please provide a link if available. If there are photo credits in the book, those photographers would also need to release their rights for their photos per the above. The same goes for the documentary filmmaker, if they own the rights to the images. Netherzone (talk) 16:34, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- Actually I have not taken photographs from the book. Rather I collected hardcopies of those photographs from the author and the makers of the documentary film and they allowed me to upload those. I am sorry that I cannot provide the ISBN number of the book, but I can provide the link of the Publisher's website from where the book is available. Here is the link of the book: https://dhansiri.in/shop/books/biography-memoirs-books-magazines/মুন্সীয়ানায়-চল্লিশ-পুর/
- Also when this book was published, the news was covered by Anandabazar Patrika. Here is the link of the news: https://www.anandabazar.com/culture/book-reviews/story-of-colors-of-many-shades-1.483560
- Most importantly, I would like to say that I collected all the photographs and the book only in the form of hardcopies. Finesilpo (talk) 17:31, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- It does not matter if the photos were hardcopies. The issue is that you do not own the copyrights to them, nor have you uploaded valid documentation proving that you had permission to use them from the various legal copyright owners, and you falsely claimed them as your "own work." There is also no evidence either that the documentary filmmaker was the photographer for these photos and that he owns the legal copy rights to them. Netherzone (talk) 19:07, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
