Interview request

[edit]

Dear Etchubykalo,

I am honored with your request and I would gladly cooperate with you and participate in your study. You can send me the list of questions that interest you and I will send you the answers in the shortest time possible. I can give you my email if you would like.

Between, my engagement on these kinds of topics isn't only on Wikipedia. You can check out the political geography site Political Geography Now (PolGeoNow), which publishes active conflict maps (Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, etc) on a monthly basis, where I am an active contributor and writer of the reports' timelines, as well as an editor of the maps themselves. There, you can also take a look, if you are interested, at the kind of (neutral) writing style I am trying to uphold.

Interview request

[edit]

I don't mind doing an interview. Email me with your questions, or use whatever other means you wish to use, and I will respond with honest answers. Nuke (talk) 00:30, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I am honoured by your request. I accept it. --Panam2014 (talk) 19:16, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for both of you on accepting my interview request. If possible, I would like to do the interview via skype (or any other voice-chat software). I have sent both of you a Participation Information Sheet and an Informed Consent form to your Wikipedia e-mails. @Panam2014 and NuclearWizard:
EDIT: I have just realized that I cannot send the participation and consent documents through the Wikipedia mailbox. If you would reply to my original e-mail, I will be able to do it through the gmail mailbox. If you have any questions beforehand, I will be happy to address them. Best regards!
pinging for reminder @Panam2014 and NuclearWizard:

Sure, why not. – Illegitimate Barrister (talkcontribs), 15:21, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Illegitimate Barrister: Thank you very much for your reply. In order to proceed I would need to send you a participant information sheet and a consent form for the interview. Would you be so kind as to drop me a line through the mailbox so I can forward all the information? Best regards! - Etchubykalo (talk) 15:32, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Etchubykalo, First of all, thanks for thinking of me for this project. I have already replied to your request by email, but just in case you haven't received the message, yes, I accept it. Feel free to send me the information sheet and the consent form via email, best regards.----Darius (talk) 00:05, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Etchubykalo, I accept the interview request but by email send me your questions by email. Iam sending my email adress to you right now.Mr.User200 (talk) 13:08, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Mr.User200: mail sent! Thank you very much! Etchubykalo (talk) 13:59, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I'm not sure how much help I can be, since it's been some time since I've been as active as some other people you've asked are, but feel free to send me your questions and I'll see whether I think I can be useful to you. :) —Nightstallion 09:02, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Nightstallion: Your help will be very valuable. I have sent you an e-mail addressing your concerns. Etchubykalo (talk) 10:47, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Re

Sorry for refusal, but I do not have off-wiki communications about Wikipedia with anyone for many years. This is for a number of good reasons. My very best wishes (talk) 21:08, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@My very best wishes: that's too bad! Discussing those reasons would actually be very valuable material for my research. If you want I can identify myself with university credentials to you. In any case, if you feel uncomfortable about this, I will not press the issue. Best regards and thank you for the reply.Etchubykalo (talk) 23:27, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, I found your master thesis online, without even asking anything off-wiki. Well, you may ask me questions right here, on your talk page. Just avoid anything that can be regarded as WP:Outing (I still consider my account anonymous), and I will answer if I feel comfortable to answer. My very best wishes (talk) 21:56, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@My very best wishes: Would it be possible to text-chat for the questions? Something like an anonymous chatroom. I've created one here now: http://www.e-chat.co/room/19872009 You don't need to login or give any personal data. Generally I would like to ask about your views on the general purpose of WP and its role in society, why you are interested in the site, and what do you think are WP's best and worst qualities. What interests me most however are experiences regarding conflict throughout the editing process of controversial articles. I'll stay logged on here for a few hours while I work if you chose to accept the chat. Otherwise, please let me know, and thank you in advance in any case!Etchubykalo (talk) 23:27, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No, I can only try to answer here if you wish. I am still editing only because of addiction. I should not. Here are some my points. In brief, there is no time-efficient process of dispute resolution in WP because there are no editorial boards. A lot of people with hidden WP:COI or bias. A lot of poor quality content. But this is still a valuable resource. My very best wishes (talk) 22:50, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@My very best wishes: Fair enough! I am taking a look at some of your points regarding "not wasting time on Wiki". In contrast, as a starting question, would you please tell me what are the things that you like the most about Wikipedia? Etchubykalo (talk) 23:27, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also, please bear in mind that I am asking these questions for the purpose of research, and I might quote your answers (without revealing your username). As you have mentioned before, only answer what you are comfortable with, but before you do, please confirm here that you allow the use of your answers for my dissertation. I normally have an official consent form to sign for this purpose, but in this case, written consent here should be enough. I will upload it to google docs in a moment for you to read if you wish and place the link here. Etchubykalo (talk) 23:27, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT: @My very best wishes: Consent Form Participation Information SheetEtchubykalo (talk) 23:27, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I see. Even honestly answering here your question what I like about WP may get me sanctioned because some others are watching and will use what I say (this is just one example). On the other hand, I avoid off-wiki communications because I was asked long time ago. So, sorry for the trouble, but I have to decline this. My very best wishes (talk) 00:06, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@My very best wishes: I understand. In any case, thank you for the conversation. Best wishes to you!Etchubykalo (talk) 09:28, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
But other than that, I do not have any problems with your consent form, etc. If you wish, I can give you incomplete answers. For example, to answer your question what I like about WP, it would be
  1. This is good place to learn something, meet some interesting people and practice English.
  2. I am doing some development of internet information resources in "real life", although this is not my main interest. So, I am using WP just as my own resource(s), meaning that I care about it and I create some pages and add content because I am going to use this content with links myself or because I think this is something interesting or really important that people need to know. In the former case, I assume that if something is helpful for me, then chances are that would also be helpful for others. My very best wishes (talk) 16:26, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@My very best wishes: thank you!. What would you understand to be Wikipedia's larger purpose in society and how do you think it is doing in this regard? Etchubykalo (talk) 10:40, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Good question! Not only this is the most important information resource on the internet, but this is also an interesting new model of global collaboration of people who act under anonymous accounts. In theory, it should work just fine, but unfortunately, there are some "bad actors" who are not here and are trying to misuse the site for various purposes including advertisement and even placing the "kernels of disinformation" on numerous pages (as one man said); see also my essay. But perhaps this is much deeper: global sites like that (and the development of the internet and computational/information technologies in general) is an important step in the evolution of our world, and who knows, maybe even a modern-day model of the Heaven (as a fun of science fiction, I have no problems with religion or with evolution being the method of creation). See little poem on my user page where I am using computer analogies to explain religious concepts (this is Russian, but you can use Google translator):

...

Information icon Hello, I'm Cassiopeia. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Joel Álvarez, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 07:09, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Cassiopeia: I'm trying to figure out how to re-use a reference within the edit summary ;) And then I'll fix it properly! Etchubykalo (talk) 10:07, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Etchubykalo, Good day. First of all the height of the subject is already source where you could find the source at the bottom of the infobox (Sherdog). To reuse the source your need to first name the source and added a " /" before ">". See example below in "source editing mode"
  • Source - [1]
  • Name the "source above" - [2]
  • Reuse the source - [2]

Let me know if anything else I could help. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 10:40, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
