NPOV

[edit]

Wikipedians try very hard to keep our articles neutral. It is one of the five pillars of the Wikipedia. NPOV means "neutral point of view". If you are going to make changes in articles about the Balkans, you may see the term "NPOV" a lot. I noticed that in your edit summary where you changed the order of the two spellings of the name for the municipality (county) of Zvečan/Zveçan, that you said "the real name of county". So far as the Wikipedia encyclopedia is concerned there is no such thing as "real" or "true", there is only that which can be verified in published reliable sources. For many people this is very difficult to understand. They ask questions like, "Don't you want the truth?" Unfortunately, for those people, the answer is "No", because all too often one person's truth is another's falsehood. If you are writing from the perspective that you must make the Wikipedia articles "true", then you are better off not editing, because you will be unable to maintain a neutral point of view. Similarly if you are very patriotic, then you are better off not editing articles about your own country, for the same reason. Wikipedia also has a behavioral guideline at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest that suggests some of the things that can come between an editor and a NPOV. It is worth a read. Good luck and happy editing. --Bejnar (talk) 23:42, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
