Rights to Pictures
Is there anyway to upload these screenshots with proper credit to the website it was taken from? I added a fair use clause to my screenshots, but I didn't really understand what it was asking about copyright? Also can I have a copy of File:DeviantART Info Tiers.jpg that you deleted, because I no longer have a copy of that file and I need to email it to my TA. Thank you.
Rights to Pictures
you notified me yesterday that the image Screen_Shot_2011-12-06_at_4.42.08_PM.png should not be titled as my own work because you assumed it was not my work because i took a screen shot of it i actually made the diagram on microsoft word and in order to get the picture and words below it in the same picture i though the easiest way would be to screen shot it. so what steps should i now take so that this picture is not deleted? Blocking of a user
I see you recently blocked user Jayhater because the name "advocates hatred". Might he not in real life be called "Jay Hater"[1] and would this have made any difference in your mind? Was the matter discussed, can you let me know, or did you immediately block and inform the user? His edits look perfectly all right to me. Thincat (talk) 13:07, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
So I talked with Philip__ at #wikipeda-en-help. It turns out he's just an old grandpa type person getting used to these here intertubes. :-) With a bit of patience, he'll be looking up some reliable 3rd party quotes. Seems edge of notability, but if a paper writes about you, that's usually a good start :-). the stuff he typed so far actually does seem to imply some level notability. There's 2 or 3 3rd party sources in there. He just hasn't actually quoted from them. yet! --Kim Bruning (talk) 22:20, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of Frisbeer?
I noticed that you deleted the Frisbeer page. This is one of the fastest growing backyard games and I believe it deserves a page. Can you please add it back or at least send me the deleted content. Much appreciated — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brianhoulihan (talk • contribs) 22:40, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
- The trouble with this article is that there is no evidence of notability. To be included in Wikipedia, there must be "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.". While you say it is fast-growing sport, there is no evidence of this in reliable sources. Furthermore, I'll be happy to e-mail you the deleted content if you wish. —GFOLEY FOUR!— 23:58, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Block of 76.31.236.91
The reason these IP editors are being blocked on sight is explained at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/FaheyUSMC/Archive. Please see my links there to the forum posts where meat puppets are actively coordinating their attack on Wikipedia articles. It is abusive, as their intent is to insert poorly sourced contentious material in the articles The Dating Guy, Least I Could Do, and (probably soon) Ryan Sohmer. Our efforts to contain the damage has been met with derision, verbal abuse, personal attacks and attempted WP:OUTING from the various editors involved. Please reconsider your unblock. Elizium23 (talk) 04:55, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- Excuse you? I didn't come from any forum, I saw something on Wikipedia that didn't look right so I followed WP:BOLD and WP:FIXTHEPROBLEM and fixed it. Then when you reverted I tried to follow WP:BRD and avoid WP:EDITWARRING by asking you to take it to the talk page. You claimed there was previous discussion, which neither Dragonfly6-7 nor I can find anywhere. I shall avoid calling you an outright liar, but again I ask you (as you failed to respond the first time): where is this mythical prior discussion? The only evidence I can find of one is your copy/paste boilerplate response to me on the talkpage for Least I Could Do, which you pasted in as an abstract wall of text rather than providing a meaningful response that can be logically and carefully debated.
- You are accusing me of attempted "Outing", of "verbal abuse", "personal attacks", and derision. So far I have provided none of these to you, but the response I have received from you and your friends Toddst1 and Edjohnston has definitely met the definition of abuse that can be had from any rational human being. Your response to me has not been as one fellow editor to another trying to work out differences, but as a "I'm right and you're wrong so die" analogue that I find very offensive and completely contradictory to the tenets of WP:CIVIL discourse. Please remember that WP:NOTBATTLEGROUND and to treat other editors with respect. If as you claim, there have been personal attacks and other negative behavior directed towards you, I fully believe that your own behavior is at least partly to blame for causing people to be angry at your obstructionist behavior. If you have deliberately had people banned in some attempt to exhibit control of an article, as I feel happened to me, then that is even worse.
- I am going to speak extremely honestly for a moment: the fact that you are here now, actively campaigning to have me reblocked, deliberately accusing me of things that you must know I did not do, is highly insulting and I consider it a deliberate act of provocation designed to try to goad me into some act of anger. I shall not do so, but I feel I must let you know that I am, in the vernacular, "on to you." 76.31.236.91 (talk) 13:10, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Dragonfly, the meaty quacking here is pretty deafening. Please reconsider the wisdom of your unblock. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 13:22, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- I honestly don't care about this subject very much, but after a lengthy conversation with the IP editor, I have concluded that he at least deserves to have his say on the talk page. If this subject has already been discussed, I am ... <epiphany!> Aha! I was about to say, I am unaware of where it took place, because it certainly wasn't on the talk page for the LICD webcomic. But as I just realized, the (quite lengthy) discussion was on the talk page for 'The Dating Guy' -- and when that article got deleted, the talk page went with it. Therefore, when the IP editor -- who, I genuinely believe, is more likely than not to be a separate LICD fan acting independently -- came along, he found no previous discussion of the issue, and thereby concluded that the issue had not been discussed previously... and thus he threw himself into a mess where everyone else involved was already familiar, and fed up, with the arguments he was using. The similarity of those arguments is not (in my opinion) a result of collusion; rather, I feel it is the result of multiple LICD fans relying on the same primary source. THAT SAID, I have little-to-no opinion on the controversy itself. DS (talk) 13:58, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hm. The user's commenting on Elizium and The Dating Guy rang my alarm bells, for the same reasons Elizium lists above, but now that I've tracked down the discussions in question (thanks DS), it does look like the IP is doing their best to engage constructively on the article's talk page. Tempers are short on all sides, but I've reconsidered my stance on whether there's quacking - let's give the people and the situation a little breathing room and see what shakes out. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 15:06, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
SPI related to your unblock

- I checked in this morning and found this:http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:76.31.236.91&action=historysubmit&diff=450598273&oldid=450531809 I do not know what beef Toddst1 has or why he is choosing to hound and harass me presently but this is not conducive to civil discourse. 76.31.236.91 (talk) 12:53, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry. Corrected my mistake, bad cut and paste on my part. 76.31.236.91 (talk) 12:54, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- As I understand it, it's not (in Todd's case) anything particularly LICD-related; rather, he's sure that you're Fahey and thus are breaking the rules. However, under the terms of our agreement, as long as you limit yourself to a) my talkpage and b) the LICD talkpage, you will not be breaking the rules even if you are Fahey. Always tedious when stuff like this happens, I know. DS (talk) 12:58, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- I'm really not so sure. I looked at the history of the talk:LICD and it feels like he is really out to get me (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Least_I_Could_Do&action=history). "This disruption by the erroneously unblocked IP has gone on long enough" is not a kind statement or remotely civil, especially in response to your kind request that the two of them treat me with a little civility. 76.31.236.91 (talk) 13:22, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- I think I may just give up. It seems fairly obvious that Toddst1 has it in for me personally, for whatever reason, whether it is related to LICD or something else. From what you've said about what I would need to do in order to even file a complaint about him with your arbitration committee or mediation, I'm never going to be given the chance to do because he'll never let me edit. I'm not cleared to provide any defense for myself on that page he created to attack me, and even if I were it's showing me a "view source" button so I'm pretty sure he set it up to prevent me from doing so. I came, I tried to have a valid and civil discussion and show the points on why this should be included in an NPOV way, and if he is so dead set on attacking me that he is doing it this way, then he thinks he owns the article and he's an admin so there's nothing more I can do. It's abuse of power and it sucks but I'll take it on as a lesson never to try to be WP:BOLD or fix anything here again. 76.31.236.91 (talk) 16:49, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- I would fully support your filing a complaint with Arbcom, ANI or any other forum against me if you feel appropriate and I'd encourage DS to help facilitate that. Toddst1 (talk) 17:00, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Elizium23
I have posted inline responses to each of Elizium23's points. He has obviously been arguing this SOMEWHERE as I was able to google his copy/paste boilerplate response and he has an area under his user space (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Elizium23/The_Dating_Guy) where he seems to keep it around. It's almost completely irrelevant: he's arguing that merely including the fact that Sohmer made the allegations somehow violates NPOV or "verifiability", he deems the Kickstarter page to be verifiable enough for status of the animated series but not for whether Sohmer made the statements, he says Sohmer's own webpage/forum posts aren't "reliable" to verify whether the Kickstarter page is Sohmer's or something like that... essentially he threw a big-ass wall of text which feels obstructionist.
I don't get it.
If he is looking for a Teletoon response to Sohmer's allegations, I was able to find one here: http://webcomicoverlook.com/2011/05/25/teletoon-responds-to-the-licd-discussion/
For NPOV reasons, it seems that should be included as a "Teletoon disputes the allegations." Assuming that this can be used as a source.76.31.236.91 (talk) 12:46, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- I need further advice. Elizium23 seems to be avoiding responding to the talk page. 76.31.236.91 (talk) 16:42, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- I am not avoiding anything. I have said my piece, in a meticulously detailed quotation of the relevant policies, and you said, simply "you're wrong" without bothering to refute anything I said. That's avoidance of the issue. Elizium23 (talk) 17:09, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- Excuse me, but I supplied a counterpost to EACH POINT you claimed to make, inline with each of your statements, even though you supplied something that was poorly considered and looked like a cross between a form response and a bad cut-and-paste job. Please read them and respond accordingly. 76.31.236.91 (talk) 19:47, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Can you tell me if this was appropriate? http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard&diff=prev&oldid=450531067
I am very confused as it looks like he is "calling for help" from people previously disposed not to judge the issue neutrally. At the very least I would like leave to respond there and point out that Elizium23 is mischaracterizing it as a "plagiarism" allegation when the issue is misappropriation of Intellectual Property work, two very different things. 76.31.236.91 (talk) 20:52, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Any advice?
They seem to not even be bothering to respond again, currently. 76.31.236.91 (talk) 20:11, 18 September 2011 (UTC) To hell with it. See my last edit (well probably the last knowing that bully toddst1) on the Least I Could Do talkpage. He just keeps trying to goad and bait me. I don't need this kind of stress, I don't need to spend this kind of effort on trying to deal with all the crap he shovels my way. I can put it to productive things like my studying and class work. So I'm done. Thanks for trying but it's obvious that the decent people like you are outnumbered about a thousand to one here. 76.31.236.91 (talk) 16:42, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

REF: 13:11, 25 July 2011 DragonflySixtyseven (talk | contribs) deleted "RegitWise ServiceDesk/HelpDesk" (overly promotional)
Noddle article
Now that Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2011_September_3#User:Amyabaker/Noddle has closed, could you help me over your original speedy deletion (overly promotional) of the userspace draft? The deleted draft was a subpage in userspace with a {{Userspace draft}} tag stopping it being indexed by Google, etc. It was at WP:RFF[2] and there was active (well, a fortnight old) advice being given on its talk page. So far as I can see, you did not communicate with the draft's creator or with those giving advice. I think you speedied directly and there had not been a speedy tag. On the other hand, it was very different[3] from now[4] and everyone at DRV thought is was too promotional to be in mainspace in that state. I am not suggesting the deletion was categorically contrary to policy but I feel it was not appropriate. Did you make a mistake, do you think now, or was the speedy appropriate? Thincat (talk) 11:51, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- No, I still feel I did the right thing. It was inappropriate, and needed so much rewriting that the new version might as well have been written from scratch. DS (talk) 19:54, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- OK, it is not that many keystrokes would have been wasted by starting again (it might even have saved some!) but a speedy without helpful advice may well be the end for a new user. Userspace drafts were set up to help people create articles and speedy is not much of a help. I may have a word with DGG because I respect his views (and he !voted endorse in the DRV of this case!). Thincat (talk) 22:01, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
You have deleted my user page, which is OK with me as it had no significant content. However, if it is considered a general courtesy to users to have any contributor to Wikipedia linked to a Wikipedia user page, then I would be eager to bring it to at least minimum standards such that it would not need to stay deleted. Advice welcome. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kirbyurner (talk • contribs) 06:12, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

Hey, after a bit of confusion (...) I realised you deleted User:Dean_Turbo/translations/volume_2 under copyright violation. Which sounds fair enough, but they were my own French-English transcriptions and translations of the songs: is this still copyright violation? Dean Turbo (talk) 11:54, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- Yes. Otherwise copyright could be sidestepped by translating from language A into language B, and then back into language A. DS (talk) 13:09, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Can you take a look? I am not cleared to edit the page myself but I feel at least replacing the word "production" with "scriptwork" would have been more fair than what he did. 76.31.236.91 (talk) 00:36, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with you on that one. If/when Sohmer announces further progress, it can go into the article. But not just 'scriptwork'. DS (talk) 02:15, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

What more do you want of me?
So here's the response you told me to post.
As far as it stands it what more do you want of me? I am here. I've been bullied. There is no other way I can describe it.
MuzeMike is now saying it's "possible" I'm not FaheyUSMC? Welcome to sanity land. I'm NOT. I spent all day starting at 10am at my girlfriend's church festival. When I got home I saw that my talkpage was locked up, and I started doing looking and I see a load of stuff like this from Toddst1: 19:02, 24 September 2011 (diff | hist) N User:107.42.152.229 ({{ipsock}}) 19:00, 24 September 2011 (diff | hist) N User:173.7.104.225 ({{ipsock}})
That means he's blaming me. I was busy at a church festival. My girlfriend is in one of the dance troupes. I was nowhere near my computer all day till I got home, saw all of this, and tried to contact you last night.
I think it's a frame up. I think it's exactly the same stuff as this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/FaheyUSMC/Archive) where even Elizium23 says "I am fairly sure that FaheyUSMC is not the same person as the other ones", but Toddst1 and the rest didn't care despite all the evidence. You thanked Toddst1 for keeping your talkpage clean - I think he or one of his friends was the one dirtying it anyways, because IT SURE AS HELL WAS NOT ME. At least MuzeMike is starting to see some freaking common sense here. As far as I'm concerned, if the the "evidence" against me is that I made "personal attacks" by calling people for their behavior, and "edited the same topic", then my evidence against them is that they were doing their level best to be as rude and uncivil as possible to piss me off and that I was forcibly limited to only editing the one topic after their initial round of beyond-rude behavior.
How many times did I have to ask you to request that they return to the discussion when they were ignoring it? How many times did I come to you and ask why Toddst1 was allowed to make rude statements and personal attacks against me? Some of it's up there some of it was on IRC. If you want to blame me for finally giving up when NOBODY here makes Toddst1 and his friends stop behaving like a royal... oh no that's a "personal attack"... then what am I supposed to do, huh? Just continually eat any abuse he and his buddies want to dish out? He's been hunting and hounding me, being completely rude and uncivil, and from his first action doing everything he can to make me angry. That is a statement of fact, not a "personal attack." I don't know what his beef is with me. I have a suspicion, but I guess stating my suspicion would be a "personal attack" now wouldn't it?
AS for this rude person DQ, Also his comments on IRC are just trolling because he's asking me about being paid to do this...he had his chance to request unblock civilly and WP != IRC, so if he's affected by my g, that's not my issue esp. when my email is on my userpage & he has the unblock-en-l mailing list and even the BASC if he chooses so - WTF? I tried to contact you nicely for over half an hour. You were blatantly ignoring me. And WTF is the "unblock-en-l mailing list" and the "BASC"? More to the point why should I let someone as rude as you, who I wouldn't trust to ask the time, anywhere NEAR knowing my email address? You just called me a "troll", I see you don't get blamed for "personal attacks" either. I see how it is - one set of rules for us little peons to be bullied, another set of rules for people like you who do the bullying. 76.31.236.91 (talk) 16:15, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, if any of this is "over the line"... after what I've been put through I really don't care. If the lot of you don't want to talk to pissed off people, you might try NOT BEING RUDE AND PISSING THEM OFF. I have yet to see so much as an apology from anyone. Hell, when Dragonfly6-7 asked Toddst1 to apologize for the way he was treating me, I got this load of insulting garbage back instead: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Least_I_Could_Do&action=historysubmit&diff=450598991&oldid=450571622 76.31.236.91 (talk) 16:17, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for making the time to review our page
DragonflySixtyseven I appreciate the time you've taken to review our page - "Sophia Search Limited"
This is the 1st page that I've created on Wikipedia & I didn't intend on creating a promotional page, you obviously believe so & I regret this: May I ask you to advise me how best to modify the page I'd created, if indeed a modification is acceptable to you / Wikipedia? (to allow me to do this with speed & ease, may I ask for my original content as a creative / source working block) Srhouston (talk) 22:30, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
- My suggestion is to look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Article_wizard and it gives you ideas of what to do and what not to do. You main content is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Srhouston/Sophia_Search_Limited now. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 03:47, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for the direction & the access to our original content. I will address your areas of concern to ensure that our page / content adheres to Wikipedia best practice - thanks again | Srhouston (talk) 09:22, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
DragonflySixtyseven, may I please ask for some more of your time / input to review the modifications / deletions that I've made to our page (holding on my User:page to where you moved it) I've removed any references that lead directly to Sophia created articles, etc; introduction - summarised to a core non-biased editorial; history - unchanged; mission - reduced to 1 line; products - abbreviated to a core summary; awards - unchanged; references - I've removed any references that lead directly to Sophia created articles, anything that would / could be deemed promotional & anything that doesn't demonstrate notability; external links - I've amended the title of the master web-link & added Facebook & You Tube for notability, Sophia blog has been removed from the introduction & placed here; I've created a reviews section to differentiate between references: is this page now fit for purpose? Thank you again, your time is greatly appreciated.Srhouston (talk) 14:05, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
Screencast for new NPP tool design?
Hello. This is Ian Baker. I'm a developer over at the Wikimedia Foundation.
tl;dr: We’re designing a much-improved UI for NPP tools, and we’re seeking guidance—and hopefully, screencasts of your NPP workflow—from expert New Page Patrollers like yourself. We’re asking for this so we can see (literally) what actions you take during patrolling which could be better supported through software.
I'm contacting you because, according to our statistics, you're a particularly active New Page Patroller on the English Wikipedia. Here at the WMF, we're working on a design for a much-improved NPP user interface. We hope that it will (as part of a larger strategy) address many outstanding issues in the article creation process, while also providing a more modern, streamlined and efficient UX for patrollers.
To do this successfully, we are relying upon the guidance of our most experienced patrollers. I'm sending this message to the ten most prolific patrollers in 2011, and a few other people who've been participating actively in this discussion.
Specifically, I'm hoping you can take a few minutes to record a screencast of yourself doing NPP. We're looking for a 10-15 minute session, but more is okay if you feel it's needed. Ideally, you'd first walk us through your process, explaining as you go, and then switch to doing NPP at your usual pace.
Our preliminary examination of this feature has shown that many experienced patrollers have evolved their own specially-tailored interface and workflow, often using external tools and plugins. Making an interface that works well will require understanding those tools and the motivation for using them. However, even if you haven't done that, observing your NPP technique will still be valuable, giving us insights into what factors inform your judgement, how you use the existing interface, and how long NPP generally takes an expert patroller such as yourself.
If you'd like to help, great! I've posted a set of instructions over at the relevant thread on the Article Creation Workflow talk page, which should get you everything you need to know. If something's missing or you have a question, post it there. That's also the place to go if you want to learn more about the reasoning behind this request.
I understand that people have differing expectations of privacy with regard to their own computer and voice. Therefore, you can either post this screencast publicly (place a link in the talk page above) or if you'd prefer, send it to me privately at [email protected].
Of course, any other input on this feature that you’d like to provide is also welcome. Don't hesitate to get involved in the discussion on the above-linked talk page, or contact me personally. I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks! raindrift (talk) 00:15, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
Twenty Vicodin / aggressive threats
Hey, on the article for the house episode "Twenty Vicodin" you removed most of the plot synopses and left the following two comments:
“Let me be absolutely clear. There will be NO plot synopses involving information that cannot be found in the official previews, until such time as the episode actually airs. I *will* issue blocks if need be. Is that understood?”
“We will NOT be using information that comes from the episode that leaked online. We will wait until the episode actually airs on October 3.”
Now I am not saying that no argument can be made to support the deletion of that material, but I have not seen it being made anywhere. What I do see, is an admin making aggressive threats. I am sure I am missing something here. Could you please enlighten me, what it is? 93.193.110.202 (talk) 21:59, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
- Eh, it can be argued that it's not a threat, it's a statement of consequences. But I wasn't in the best mood, and wished to forestall not just argument, but recidivism. More to the point, though, the general action of excluding the illicitly-acquired information (and given that the episode was leaked without the network's permission, it clearly is illicit) is not controversial. On October 4, all that data can be legitimately restored to the article (although it will probably get trimmed down somewhat). DS (talk) 13:30, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- Well you might look at this article for a definition: Threat ;-) But to the point, I am not convinced the information in the article was aquired illicitly. It is far from proven, that the episode was leaked against the will of the copyright owner. Also, there are already press reports that state a lot of details of this episode. It could be argued, that a reference, that was created illicitly, is not neccesarily illicit itself. However, I must say that I do not care much about the article's content, so as long as no one else cares a lot, let's leave it how it is. 93.231.155.166 (talk) 16:27, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

FYI
Hi Dragonfly,
Appreciate your supervision thus far.
I wasn't sure if your "Watch" on my userpage covered the corresponding Wikimedia page and wanted to make you aware of this conversation: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Ale000
My intention is to wait a week for any response before taking action to improve the image copyright issues on some SAS-related images.
I realize there is also an email address that owners of copyrighted material can use to make informal requests related to their images, but this didn't seem necessary before using Wikipedia's own tools and collaboration to make the adjustments myself.
Let me know if there are any issues related to this course of action.
Also as an FYI, I'm building a draft SAS Institute Wiki here. I'll share the draft here and on the SAS Institute Talk page when complete and solicit for community feedback.

Overly Promotional?
User: VincentTofficial email: [email protected]
First of all - why are you deleting my page, on a Saturday, at 11 in the morning, because of being overly promotional.
2. A page here is not overly promotional unless you move people on the net to that a page; a blog perhap. I need a public record of all my online works - that's why I use it. I see many artist here whom you might consider overly promotional that you haven't touched. Maybe i'll put your result of mine on a blog and let the people decide.
Overly promotional? Go fishing on the weekend instead of taking orders outside of Wikipedia on a Saturday. I want my page back up before I further this to Wikipedia "internal". — Preceding unsigned comment added by VincentTofficial (talk • contribs) 22:01, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
Re: Deletion of David Cruz Thayne
Several other articles referred to David Cruz Thayne as a candidate and thus it was proper to add a page with over a dozen sources that discussed the candidate. California's 26th district is one of only a few open seats so far for the coming cycle and one of the prime targets of the DCCC. Plus, Thayne's career as a professional tennis player, a documentary film producer, chief of staff to the minority state senate leader, and campaign manager is notable as it is all very public (and thus easily verifiable). Notability is partially determined by the traffic and interest people have about the topic and the page was getting traffic. Please restore the page as soon as possible. Walid Phares
I understand there has been an edit war over the Walid Phares biographic entry, I was the one trying to update the piece with relevant information concerning Phares views on Islam and past associations with the 1980's Lebanon Civil War. A simple check of the references provided will demonstrate that these updates were not slander, but clarification to a heavily scripted entry. Phares is a public figure which has gone on the record numerous times denouncing Muslim Americans, promoting the Sharia Conspiracy, and is an advisory to the Romney Campaign. If you can provide or edit a more fair and balanced entry please be my guest, but I would ask that you also not let those with an interest to promote Phares' hateful views have their way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.164.100.194 (talk) 20:05, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

There was a bug in MediaWiki 1.18 that caused blocks made via the API to have talk page access disabled when it should have been enabled. This also affected scripts such as User:Animum/easyblock.js. EMERGENCY: Hullabaloo Wolfowitz vandalizing more Janet Morris' pages in retaliation for decision on Gilgamesh in the Outback page
This is the edit history for the last couple of hours of editing by Hullaballoo Wolfowitz of The Sacred Band of Stepsons page. This page has stood unmolested since the Spring of 2010 and now Mr. Wolfowitz is trying to dismantle it since he was overruled in vandalizing the Gilgamesh in the Outback page. Is there some speedy process to have him blocked from vandalizing any more of Ms. Morris' pages?

Hello,
Why was the list List of fictional characters with surname Carpenter deleted?
Were you aware of the efforts to improve surname pages by using list pages? Were you aware that each fictional name on that list page was linked to wiki article?
Do you have any clue of how many hours different editors and administrators helped create the new format and link pages to Carpenter (surname)?
Please restore List of fictional characters with surname Carpenter. Otherwise I will request a formal review and discussion.

- Hi, actually this is not totally accurate, Luigi is a fully qualified Architect but is now also practicising as an Interior Designer. As I do not know how to edit the title, can you please put it back to the way it was, ie (Architect & Interior Designer)? Many thanks, Killian
Hey there, thanks for the explanation, could you please therefore change it to Luigi Esposito (Architect) then?
Can I also please ask you about one other thing? I have tried to insert a photograph of Luigi, taken recently by his mother (who is just a private citizen) and I'm not sure how to deal with the copyright issue - can you please advise how I can deal with this as (1) I don't know what copyright classification I should give this picture and (2) I can't seem to find the correc link, or path to actually get to the classification bit? Thanksing you in advance . . . Killian
Old block review
You probably don't remember blocking Pimpalicious Nerd (talk · contribs), but they're requesting unblocking. Thought you should know. – Luna Santin (talk) 03:13, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
- I don't want to beat you up over this,I have generally found your blocks to be just and well thought out and this block was issued 21 months ago, but just FYI a consensus rapidly emerged on their talk page that this was a poorly considered block for the following reasons:
- No clear violation of policy
- No attempt to discuss
- User was inactive for three years and two weeks before being blocked anyway
- No notice given, only thing in block log was "no pimps allowed"
- As I said, I'm sure this was just a hiccup and I know it is not indicative of your general level of blocking competence, just following up for the record. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:32, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of Surya Mandir, Deo
Thanks for the observance. You are right to point out that the wiki page was a word to word copy of the deosuryamandir.com web page content. However, since we maintain that page too and have developed the content for it, we did not violate any copyrights nor was it our intention. The web page has also been put up by us (parijat). The temple in question is a reverend one and lacks of people throng the place during this time of year. It is most unfortunate that the page has been deleted at this very time. We request you to kindly reconsider the decision and revert it. You will appreciate that this is not an individual subject, but a social-religious one. Restoring the page would be in the public interest. In case required, we may change the content at a later stage. In fact, we want it to grow with public participation. Thus, you would have noted the invitation asking for help in content development. Thanks and regards. PARIJAT 01:14, 27 October 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Parijat.delhi (talk • contribs) You may have been busy with so many other works, still I would appreciate if you could resolve this at the earliest. - (talk page stalker)Please see WP:COPYVIO. You cannot simply assert that you have the right to violate copyright, you must release the material under a license compatible with Wikipedia's terms of use. This means relinquishing all right to control the content, its wording, and redistribution, including redistribution for profit. If that is really what you want to do go to WP:DCP for instructions on how to donate the copyrighted material to Wikipedia. Beeblebrox (talk) 17:48, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Please restore the page to enable us to edit it
Thanks for the suggestion. We are sorry if our act amounted to violation of copyrights. We never thought it that way because we were merely trying to share the content that we had developed for the Temple site. In fact the temple in question has no official site of its own and we have put up the website with their consent. We will have no problem with donating the copyrighted material either. Still could you please guide us which is a better option - to donate the copyright and carry on with the earlier version or edit the present material to avoid any copyrights issues. We shall be most obliged for your suggestions/help in this regard. Sebergham
Deletion of this page leaves a redlink to Sebergham Castle on the List of castles in England page. Information on Sebergham Castle was added to this page by me some months ago. If there is no particular reason why the Sebergham page should not exist, I should be glad for it to be reinstated. Otherwise I should like to recover the information on Sebergham Castle so that it can be added to some other suitable page. The building does not merit its own page. Thanks Dragonfly. A couple more questions.
I find the entry when I click on Shig Murao from your message on my talk page, but I don't find it when I search Wikipedia. Does it take a period of time before it appears for all to see?
I made a couple of edits to correct a couple of typos.
At what point can I go into other Wikipedia entries and add links to the Shig page?

Question re adding image to to Shig Murao page
I want to add an image of Shig, and it occurs to me that the one at the top of this page would be perfect:
http://shigmurao.org/Shig_Project/Final_Chapter_2.html
Shig took the photo himself, made three or four prints, cut them in strips, and fanned them out to create this image, which he published in two issues of Shig's Review, the second being a postcard collection that included the image I scanned.
Are there going to be any issues regarding rights to the image if I post it? Shig, of course, died in 1999. Would someone in his family have to make the image available under a Creative Commons license in order for me to use it?
RichardReynolds (talk) 23:39, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

Invitation to take part in Wikipedia research
Hello,
I am doing research on Wikipedia in multiple languages to see how different Wikipedia websites enable people differently to act and contribute in their ways. A brief description of the study can be found on our project page on Meta-Wiki. The results would give guidelines for further development of Wikipedia in less developed languages.
As an active member of Wikipedia community, you are invited to take part in the study and share your experience about and understanding of Wikipedia with us. It would take 30 to 60 minutes of your time to have an online conversation about Wikipedia. I would be delighted to hear any of your ideas or feedback about the study. Please feel free to contact me with your questions and concerns related to this study and your participation. You can also find the email address on the project page.--WikiTafa (talk) 00:18, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

2003 Czech suicide "demonstration"
16:26, 17 November 2011 DragonflySixtyseven (talk | contribs) deleted "2003 Czech suicide demonstration" (no, I'm sorry. There's no real evidence -- or media commentary speculating on -- this being anything other than a string of unconnected copycat suicides.)
That is not true, however I proposed, and asked for a re-tranferral to, the title "2003 Czech domonstrators". Restoring the article? Mormegil 87.18.93.145 (talk) 19:32, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
- No. I'm really sorry, but I spent an hour talking with the editors of cs.wiki and they explained that there really wasn't anything that could support a Wikipedia article. DS (talk) 22:31, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
- It is not so. The question, referring to the general public suicide political demonstrations in Czech Republic that registered 16 deaths between 1990 (the Velvet Revolution) and 2003 and more before, registered that in that year there was a great increase: 9 of the 16 deaths was in that year though it was not a single demonstration or cohordinated series of demonstrations. Of course the article was a stub and needed, and was in some sense a question for, a further treatment.

Icelandic names
I saw your note at User_talk:TutterMouse#Icelandic_names, and I wonder where you got the idea that Icelandic names "do not use the DEFAULTSORT template"? If it's the convention that Icelandic names are sorted by first name, then as far as I can see they need to have a DEFAULTSORT showing the name in that order, by which they should be sorted. If the name has diacriticals in it, then the DEFAULTSORT needs to omit those diacriticals, because they file after Z. I have added a DEFAULTSORT to Gísli Halldórsson. Is there a page where you have found instructions to the contrary? PamD 22:56, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- 'Icelandic name' is a useful article. DS (talk) 23:22, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- It's a useful article but says nothing about WP style. See also Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(Iceland-related_articles)#Sorting and Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Iceland#Sort_keys_for_Icelandic_names. Not very conclusive, altogether - but I don't think any of it supports your statement. PamD 00:09, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

You recently removed a reference from this article with the comment "That's a false reference." On what basis do you say this? The book is listed in Worldcat and is available in university libraries. Specifically, what is "false" about it? Yworo (talk) 19:42, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
- The book is not fully searchable on Google books. However, I agree that not only does this particular source not support "semency", there is no source that does, so I've removed that claim from the article and provided a second source that supports the rest of the sentence. - I noticed you returned briefly. Did you get a chance to explain why you disabled email? Hipocrite (talk) 12:58, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- I have begun reviewing your response. Please, immediately when reading this respond with a one word yes or no answer to a yes or no question: When you made the block, did you consider email abuse extremely likely? Hipocrite (talk) 16:40, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- "Mu". Your question does not have a 'yes/no' answer, as it is predicated upon certain assumptions. I did not quantify, or have no recollection of quantifying, the probability of such an eventuality -- other than that, based on BD's inappropriate use of the UNBLOCK template, it was non-zero. DS (talk) 16:48, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- Mu is actually wrong - before blocking email you were required to make a quantification of probability of such an eventuality. Please review WP:BLOCK, specifically:
- block e-mail will disable the user from accessing Special:Emailuser for the duration of the block. This option should not be used by default when blocking an account, but rather it should only be used in cases of abuse of the "email this user" feature (however, in instances when an admin feels email abuse is extremely likely, they may use their discretion). When enabled, efforts should be taken to ensure that the user's talk page remains unprotected and that the user is aware of other avenues (such as the unblock-en-l mailing list) through which he can discuss the block. This is often used in cases of a user who is likely to do damage and disruption through e-mail.
- Thanks. Hipocrite (talk) 16:52, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
I am trying to get the situation here resolved and as amicable as possible. I changed his block setting allowing him email and talk and will monitor his talk page. I occasionally make changes to the Article about me and recently I was trying to add my "Official" site links to the External Links Section of the Article… and I have lately been running into a little resistance from someone, who as far as I can tell, is not an Administrator here at Wiki, and who seems, in my opinion, to be making arbitrary decisions. I say "arbitrary" because I can't find the things she sites in the Wiki Rules Sections.
I was hoping as an administrator than you might be able to help.
Thanx in advance.
(I hope this goes to the "bottom of the page" as you requested)
- I'm a little disappointed by an editor going "admin shopping" rather than taking his concerns to a Noticeaboard. Be that as it may: The history of the page Al Gordon (comics) is littered with the article subject making promotional edits, adding a host of art images decoratively as if it's his portfolio page, and running roughshod over WP:COI. As for "arbitrary," I've pointed out to him that ELNO10 disallows links to one's social media pages unless there is no official page, in which case "an" official link (singular) is appropriate. Having multiple links to his Facebook page and his Flickr page and whatever other blog, Twitter page, etc., he has seems like promotional linkspamming. Agree or disagree, these are not arbitrary distinctions. Thank you, and I apologize for any bother this might be.--Tenebrae (talk) 14:28, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
Dearest Tenenbrae: I'm not an Editor... maybe a small-time Contributor at most. You suggested on my Talk Page that I get an Administrator to arbitrate... then you get pissy that I am "Administrator Shopping." I think you are being a little contradictory, arbitrary, indiscriminate and not too linear in your actions and supposed Thinking. I think you need to make up your mind of what you want me to do. And your response here is Especially interesting coming from someone who was chastised for canvasing for an Administrator position. I am not "Canvasing." I asked for assistance from One (1) Administrator... and though even though you suggested it... you don't seem to like it.
You really seem to have a personal vendetta against me... And I'm at a disadvantage. You know exactly who I am... on the other hand, however, you have the distinct anonymity of the internet. You very much seem A Self-Appointed Editor with an Authoritarian attitude.

Hi
I'm not sure how to proceed from here. It's been a frustrating experience. I took your advice and did exactly what you suggested and put up the links you recommended - and Tenebrae immediately removed them and was fairly Authoritarian despite her non-administration position at Wiki.
I also added what I thought was an interesting Post on the Frank Miller Article Talk Page and she completely removed my Post. I feel very bullied and harassed. So, I'm concerned that she's stalking me and just throwing a spanner in the works for the sake of it.
Please help.

Hi DS. Thanks for your message regarding the COI issue. I'm not a frequent contributor to these pages and was unaware of it. However, I do not simply add bibliographical refs to my books (e.g. Further Reading) on Wikipedia as a means of promoting them. I can understand your concern with that practice. The deal is, a lot of the info on Wikipedia derives from my books. People sometimes quote/paraphrase at length from them without regard for fair use (I have no problem with brief quotes with attribution). Occasionally the writer is kind enough to reference the info but often not... I also contribute to various entries myself when information is scant or inaccurate, though I make my living as a writer and do not have the time to contribute extensively--so I feel the bibliog refs are honest and do not fall into the COI category. I will create a User page when time permits and "disclose" my background as an author of books. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jordan R. Young (talk • contribs) 22:01, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
Hi. I am sorry for my spam last comment. If you could be flexible, I would like to neutrally point out that your quote did not soot my guidelines. It only stated-If I've deleted something you wanted to read, there was probably a reason. Being rude or hostile never helps.
However, I necessarily did not want to specifically 'read it. But I did however, want others to read it so they could welcome me to Wikipedia. And, I am not an Angry Christian, so I take back what I said about the Bible. I hope we can agree. --ObiwanLostToBarney (talk) 18:43, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Just so you know for future reference, party affiliation categories on MPs' pages aren't temporary classifications to reflect only their current affiliation; rather, they're permanent categories for anybody who's ever sat in that party's caucus. So the Liberal category shouldn't replace the NDP category on Mme St-Denis' page; she belongs in both. Bearcat (talk) 17:55, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Robert Hart Baker article
Hi, hope I do this right. Still a total newb. Got your note on non-deletion of the one article (Robert Hart Baker, conductor). That's cool. This has been my first attempt and I did the name change at the subject's agent's request to make the article easier to find. I did not know the old one had not been deleted yet but had put in a request. Also a very helpful individual called Osarius told me they had blanked it for deletion and seconded my request but told me someone else would have to do the actual deletion for me and to just wait, so that's what I was doing. I am still so very new at this...can you delete that one for me? The title the individual prefers is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Hart_Baker and that is the page I'd like to preserve - the older one can go. Thanks.

Walk Off the Earth deletion (overly
You deleted the band page for the band Walk Off the Earth a little while back, stating it was "Overly Promotional". Well they just received almost FOURTEEN MILLION views on their latest video IN LESS THAN SEVEN DAYS. Now what? Thanks for deleting all my hard work buddy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dsimmelink (talk • contribs) 10:59, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hm. Doesn't seem to have been created by the account "Dsimmelink" (admins can check deleted contributions, and it's not there). Was it a userpage? If you really care, give me the URL and I'll check it out -- but an article about Walk Off the Earth has since been created, and it seems just fine. Compare it to (what you recall of your original content) -- is it more neutral? DS (talk) 13:51, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi, you deleted the page Gourmet Raw that was created by the user Webholism, which I have been editing stating 'overly promotional'. Karel Černý (1930s footballer)
Hi DragonflySixtyseven. I noticed you moved Pavel Černý (1930s footballer) to Karel Černý (1930s footballer) citing the reason as conforming with the Czech Wikipedia page. However I have visited this page and there appears to be no talk page there and nothing within the article including the references which confirms any first name. What is your opinion? Cloudz679 16:36, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your prompt reply. There is only one source which is a collection of match lineups, the only thing which exists is the surname. Looks like first name has been asserted by original research. I will take a look at this later and try to establish a reliable reference for the first name. Thank you. Cloudz679 16:41, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- I took another look and found the reference. I have updated all mentions of this man accordingly. I also updated the Karel Černý page to reflect this recently uncovered fact. Thank you. Cloudz679 19:51, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
BistroMD Page Deleted, Please Undo
Hello DragonflySixtyseven,
Just logged in and found out that you've deleted my page for creation, BistroMD. I am a new Wikipedia user, and do not understand why your actions (deletion) were/are justified. Since the post was not live, but rather within the articles for creation space, deletion strikes me as rather innapropriate. I now find myself in the uncomfortable position of having to come to you to get my content back. I am sure that you are more than aware that not everyone in the world is as well versed in the wiki rules and policy as you may happen to be. Hours of work are now wasted, unless you decide to give my content back.
Please "undelete" my article so that I can continue to edit and make changes. I thought that was what the review process was about, and can assure you that I am not trying to subvert the integrity of Wikipedia. Two other admins chose to provide constructive feedback rather than deleting. I'm holding out hope that you might be able to do the same. Please understand that this is not intended to be a criticism of your actions, but rather a request for clarification and article reinstatement. Ajroebuc (talk) 15:35, 25 January 2012 (UTC)ajroebuc

Hi DragonflySixtyseven
You had deleted Muslims for Progressive Values page, reason given that it was self-promotion. How is that any different then ISNA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Society_of_North_America) or any organizations on Wiki for that matter? I'm new and could use some clarification. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OneHumanity (talk • contribs) 22:41, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hi OneHumanity, to answer your question, please read our policy page on self promotion. I am able to view the deleted content and I can see that you used the word "we" 5 times to talk about the organisation that you represent, whereas for Islamic Society of North America, this has only been used once (and this was in the context of a quote so is not self promotion). At present, the article does not read to have a neutral point of view, which is a requirement of the articles on Wikipedia. As it seems that you are associated with the organisation Muslims for Progressive Values, you also appear to have a conflict of interest. Per our guidelines at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, you should refrain from writing articles about an organisation you are strongly associated with as it is highly likely that you will be unable to maintain a Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. I can see that you provided quite a few external links, but providing reliable references to show the verifiability of the organisation will help to prove that is it notable. You can request that the article is created for you by visiting Wikipedia:Requested articles. I hope this helps and please feel free to ask any further questions. MTKing redirect the school of management
Dragonfly, we spoke tonight about the University at Buffalo's school of management. MTKing has again redirected the article back to the university at buffalo...erasing all of the work I did on the page to ensure its notability. He did it without reason also. I'm sorry to bug you on this issue but I don't know any other editors. Davidhar (talk) 05:34, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
- I did give the reason, and it is Davidhar who has made no effort to demonstrate at the talk page how the article meets the inclusion guidelines, he, as a student, with a long family connection to the uni has a clear WP:COI and needs to make sure the changes he is proposing are agreed at the talk page. One thing that Davidhar forgot to say is that a bigger department at the university has just has just gone through a Afd at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/University at Buffalo College of Arts & Sciences the outcome was redirect, so there is a precedent set here. Mtking (edits) 06:41, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
- MTKing, Dragonfly and I both settled on this last night. You need to give me space to edit. The School of Management is a notable article on its own and we both don't know why you are such an opponent against it. Yeah the school of management is smaller than the college of arts and sciences, but that doesn't mean it's any less notable. The School of Management has garnered national attention since its beginnings in the 1920's. I verified that with current rankings from Forbes, Businessweek, USNWR, Wall Street Journal, and others. I also verified that with a 1992 newspaper article. I gave you 17 references to look at, and I'm guessing you didn't look at any single one of them. At the time you proposed to delete the article, you gave no reason why the school of management was not notable. Instead your argument was that it had no sources. Instead of helping the article and editing it to CREATE sources, you were destructive and went forth to delete it without anyone's true consent. Now I have recreated the article, added more neutral information, added 17 viable sources, added independent sources, and you still turn it down because, "The College of Arts and Sciences was deleted, and that's larger in size than the School of Management...so this should be deleted too". I'm sorry MTKing, but that's not a real reason to stop the article's creation. The School of Management has had its own article for a year now. It wasn't until you came about and took down every single adjunct school that UB has off of wikipedia. UB is the only school now within the AAU that does not have any adjunct schools as main articles on wikipedia. I am flabbergasted at this...because UB is the largest school in the Northeast. It has over 300,000 living alumni in over 140 different countries and all 50 states. There are 29,000 students at this university, and on any given day, there are over 40,000 people on both north and south campuses (combined of course). I am not sure why you have such a bias against the university at buffalo. Dragon fly and I both agreed that it would be best to get insight about these matters from someone else than you, MTKing. 128.205.56.132 (talk) 15:59, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
- If you look at the 17 Sources you quote, 10 of them are from the departments own web site, 5 of them are ranking tables with no actual coverage of the department, 1 is to a mirror of a WP page, and the other one (from www.buffalonews.com) is an article, in a local paper, following the publication of a rankings table. You has you have said your self you are here show wikipedia a hidden gem within academia, a lot of editors do not like it when editors try and use WP to promote stuff. Mtking (edits) 20:03, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
- Further to the above, I am not saying that UB is not notable, it is frankly not relevant how many living alumni the uni has, which countries they live in or how many people are on campus at any given point in time. The issue is, does the department meet the Wikipedia:College and university article guidelines for a stand alone article, for that you need to show the department (as distinguished from the university) has received significant coverage by reliable, independent sources, and as of yet you have not. Mtking (edits) 21:15, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Precisely. I feel exactly the same way. That was an excellent way of putting it. See my explanation on the Talk page. Jessemv (talk) 01:01, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Please advise
Hi. I was busy creating an article (User:Cneeds/verybest) for a notable (in my view) website that showcases luxury items news and reviews. The business rational behind the website is to carry adverts for various charity organisations that are mainly supported by the philanthropists who caused the site to be created. There are a few such sites around the 'net and they have piqued my interest and I believe that they are worthy of mention in Wikipedia.
This article has been summarily deleted by youself as being "overly promotional". I don't have a problem with the reason but I do find it rather disturbing that an article that is still in my user space is deleted so ignominiously. As a relative newbie to wikipedia I feel it would have been more beneficial to everyone to rather discuss the "overly promotional" aspect of the article in order to learn and grow.
Can you please re-instate the article and annotate the "overly promotional" aspects so that I can fix them? Alternatively please send me the article's content so that at least I have a record of all the work I did so far.

MSU Interview
Dear DragonflySixtyseven,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, were it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at [email protected] (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at [email protected]. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 05:47, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
User Page Deleted
You've deleted my user page because it was overly promotional--I get that 100%, and I agree that it was, but it was still a work in progress. I was going to reword it and make it less promotional before publishing it as my company's page. Now I can't do that because all of my work is gone, and I have to start from scratch. I had a copy of it saved on our file share, but that crashed too. I don't blame you for deleting it as I realize now that this content probably belonged in the Sandbox (which despite reading guidelines on creating articles and everything, is what I thought my user page was for. Oops.), but is there some way for me to recover what was deleted? I'd appreciate getting that content back so that I could continue to work on it (now in the Sandbox) before publishing it as a new page. If I'd realized that having it on my user page made it subject to admin deletion, I wouldn't have tabled the project while working on other things, and would have changed the wording and cleaned it up long ago (again, this was my bad, but I just really need that content back).
Any help you could shoot back to me on this would be great.
Thanks and keep up the good work, Emuszyns (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:30, 9 February 2012 (UTC).

Santorum Google bomb
After doing a little research, I found that people are not in agreement over whether the santorum neologism is a Google bomb or not. There is actually a discussion on the Google bomb Wiki page about whether Dan Savage's campaign is a Google bomb or a redefining of the word 'santorum'. So, I removed the statement in Wiki page for campaign for "romney" neologism comparing the growth of the santorum neologism and the romney neologism.Debbie W. 15:27, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Why the deletion
I know it's been almost four years, but what was the apparent copyright violation in my article? Fraig-Davod is my buddy and mine's spoof film company. And we have a copyright on that name. Thanks for the explanation. Compass1963 (talk) 03:50, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for that response. I personally wrote the article I put in Wikipedia...it wasn't copied from anywhere...it is original, I wrote it. Being a teacher paid off I guess as it must have sounded good enough that it fooled you, an administrator. I wanted it to sound professional. I find it interesting that an administrator can just make the assumption, that it "sounded like it came from an external source." It did not, I put it on there for myself, my partner, and friends to enjoy as it was a labor of love and a big part of a lot of people's lives at the time. Please return my original submission to the site. Thanks. Compass1963 (talk) 04:18, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
Although I originally voted to keep the article on romney neologism, I see your point about it possibly being a little premature. Another editor made a proposal that we should merge the romney neologism article into the Seamus (dog) article. I like this idea because the two topics are related, and it allows us to retain the material without having to justify a whole article about a guy who tried to redefine the word "romney".Debbie W. 04:31, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
Hi, I want to know that why have you deleted this page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.223.157.161 (talk) 16:18, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
- Because there was no assertion of notability. For an article about a book, it needs more than just "the book exists". This looked like it had been written by the author of the book, specifically to promote the book. Who published the book? It looked like it was published by a vanity press, a print-on-demand house. That is not an assertion of notability. There was nothing about why anyone should care. That's why I deleted it. DS (talk) 16:27, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Hello
Dear DragonflySixtyseven,
The users Megjashi and Меѓаши were blocked by you and I would kindly ask you to provide the reason for such action. Please let me know if there is something that I did wrong and is not satisfying the criteria provided by Wikipedia, my apology in advance. I would also like to ask you what I should do in order to have the content public and searchable on Wikipedia? I tried several times to search the keyword Megjashi in the search box on Wikipedia but no results appeared. However, when I searched on Google (Megjashi Wikipedia) it took me to the user account. I appreciate your time to review my note and I hope you will be able to help me solve this issue. Thank you in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.217.108.154 (talk) 08:57, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
- Any given wikipedia account is only to be used by one single person. This means that if a Wikipedia account is identified as belonging to an organization, the account gets blocked. The account can be used by an individual who is part of the organization, but in such a case, the account name should not indicate that it belongs to the organization as a whole. You are welcome to begin a fresh account with a name indicating that you are a person, and not several people.
- I would also point out that there's a difference between a Wikipedia article and a Wikipedia user page. You used the Wikipedia internal search engine, and its default setting is to search only in articles. You did not write an article, you wrote a userpage -- so when you searched in articles, you found nothing. Since you're clearly affiliated with the organization in question, I strongly suggest that (after you create a new account for yourself that clearly belongs only to one person) you read our guidelines on conflict of interest. My Sandbox
Hi, I was wondering why you deleted MY sandbox? it is NOT an encyclopedia article, and it was MY personal sandbox, for ME. What was your reason? Ritchie41 (talk) 20:29, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- See WP:FAKEARTICLE. While established users are allowed some leeway in their userspace, considering that you have made only 67 edits, the majority of which are to your userspace, and a good portion of the remaining edits are of highly questionable quality, you hardly fall into that category. T. Canens (talk) 18:45, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
User namespace redirects
Hi. Why did you revert my redirects at User:Ash and User talk:Ash? --MZMcBride (talk) 17:14, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- If your assessment was correct, then you were breaching someone's 'clean start' for no adequately-explained reason.
- Conversely, if your assessment was incorrect, then what's the problem with my reverting it?
- For the record, I have asked the individual in question, and I was told "I made a Clean Start, so I'm not going to confirm or deny whether it was that particular account that I used previously". DS (talk) 17:21, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- Is it a clean start if it's possible for others to deduce what the previous account was? That doesn't seem very clean to me. --MZMcBride (talk) 17:27, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- Since you're not on arbcom, you're not the one who decides whether something counts as a 'clean start' or not. I should also point out, this assumes that your identification of (Account A) with (Account B) is correct. What if it's not? DS (talk) 17:43, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I don't follow. Yes, it's true that I'm not a member of the Arbitration Committee. How is that relevant to this discussion? (How is that relevant to determining whether an individual made a clean start?)
- If my assertion regarding the relationship between the two accounts is not correct, someone will surely come along and correct me. Are you suggesting that User:Ash is not User:Fæ? If so, what are you basing this claim on? There is substantial evidence that the two accounts are related. Do you dispute this? If you don't dispute the claim, I'm not sure why you've raised it as a point of discussion. --MZMcBride (talk) 17:50, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- If you're correct, then you're outing someone, which you shouldn't do. If you're incorrect, then you're muddying the waters, confusing the issue, etc -- which you shouldn't do either.
- So don't do it. Understand? DS (talk) 18:28, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- Your goalposts seem to be ever-shifting. First you went with "clean start." Then after that fell apart, you tried "you're not on ArbCom" and "but how do you know?" When that failed, you tried "but you're outing the editor, iff it's true." But you're still in this uneasy place where you apparently recognize the truth, but deny it anyway.
- We redirect user and user talk pages for transparency, accountability, and attribution. For example, whenever a user is renamed, their user and user talk pages are automatically redirected. I don't think having a redirect here is problematic. I do think not having one could be, though. Clarity (un-muddying the waters) comes from information, not obfuscation, surely? --MZMcBride (talk) 19:09, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
Don't be disingenuous, McBride.
There is no reason to do this. Stop arguing in favor of it.
X, Y, and Z all declared their intention to leave Wikipedia for various reasons. Some time later, Q joined Wikipedia and said "I am an old user; I abandoned my account for personal reasons, and am making a clean start."
During Q's RfA, Arbcom assessed the user and decided that this was okay.
In your opinion, Q is clearly X, and so you have unilaterally taken it upon yourself to redirect X's userpage and talkpage to Q's. I don't know if your assessment is factually accurate, because I don't know the basis on which you reached this conclusion. Furthermore, I don't want to know the basis on which you reached this conclusion.
You're smart enough to know why this is not acceptable, McBride. I respect you, and I expect better from you. DS (talk) 19:23, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not trying to be disingenuous. If a user underwent a clean start, it shouldn't be possible to identify the previous account(s). However, if it is possible, for the sake of transparency, the old user and user talk pages should be redirected to the current user and user talk page. Redirecting past usernames to a current username is standard practice. Obfuscating user history is a very poor idea, particularly as an open secret. --MZMcBride (talk) 19:28, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- Also, I find it a bit strange for you to simultaneously prefer ignorance, yet jump into editing. You're editing pages in which you actively don't want to know the background behind their content? That's bizarre, you realize? Why get involved at all? --MZMcBride (talk) 19:31, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi DragonflySixtyseven. I was a bit surprised to get a note from user:Meetexplorers today. I havent thought about the user in 8 months. I understand you are an admin and may have had some correspondence with him. My concern is that he may still have a major conflict of interest and not a very good understanding of the point of WP. His comments on the Meetexplorers talk page refer to his planned contributions helping "someone interested by old/modern exploration of Australia... find me to ask questions, then I can answer his/her questions." User Page Changes
Hello DS (reminds me of Dom Sheldon or the Nintendo gaming device),
A real thank you for your feedback and changes you made to my user page. However, there are still a few questions I like to ask:
1) Why did you remove that part on my parents being North Korean nuclear bomb creators? You actually BELIEVED that? I know, personal information should not be given, but that? It was meant to be a JOKE. I believe that Wikipedians that claim to be from DPRK are all lying, unless they're some sort of elite or Kim Jong Il's relative.
2) Is it alright to give phoney personal information?
Thank you.

From Jfj184 (RE: An Important Note)
Hello, Mr. DragonflySixtyseven.
I am afraid that I unfortunately did not realise that this was not allowed (why isn't it, though? The reason seemed a bit vague to me). I shall attempt to move this to a server of my own, but you must understand - the main reason I put all these fake articles here was because of the beautifully-formed templates found on Wikipedia. These are, unfortunately, absent from the new MediaWiki server that I started. It is, of course, possible to manually copy and paste these templates, but this is very slow and tedious, not to mention they often don't work properly... Do you know of any way I might be able to move these articles to a different server, but with those templates, or, alternatively, how I might be able to take some of these templates and copy them to the new server? Or is that not allowed either? I'm not very good with these things...
Regards,
Jfj184
P.S. I didn't know I was supposed to leave a time frame.
- Hello again, sir, and thank you for replying. I have now copied some of the templates, and have the fake articles stored in a temporary file. I have also copied some of the essential templates (mainly infoboxes), but these infoboxes... I can't get them to align right. Do you have any idea how I might go about doing that? If not, well, that's alright, I'll find a way somehow.
- Regards,
- Jfj184, 0:34, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hi there. I am also sorry for the delay in answering. I have now moved all these articles to the MediaWiki server I have set up. I still don't know how to align the infoboxes properly but, well, I'll probably find out eventually. The ones on here can probably be taken down now. Perhaps I'll add those db-u1 things to them.
- Regards,
