Sorry I couldn't intervene sooner... I saw your reports just a bit too late. Like I said, I've left a final warning and I'm keeping an active eye on the article and the user. He's burned up his final warning - if he adds unsourced content like that again, he's toast... ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:39, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, Okie dokie thank you, Your reply over at RFPP made a lot of sense, Anywya thank you for dealing with it and for your help, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:46, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
Date format in references
Please refrain from changing the date format in references, such as at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nissan_Leaf&type=revision&diff=849877906&oldid=849877370 . We have already agreed at Talk:Tesla Model S#RfC about date format in references that yyyy-mm-dd is allowed and that changing away from it without consensus is violating the WP guidelines. Stepho talk 00:32, 14 July 2018 (UTC)
- I'm not going to keep a huge log of every article where my changes have been objected because the objection rate is very VERY low (in that there's only one objection a year if that), I apply the whole DMY/MDY to all articles so no I shan't refrain from changing them but you're more than welcome to revert which I say you already have done. –Davey2010Talk 00:56, 14 July 2018 (UTC)
- What you just said is that you will try to get away with it even though you know it is against the guidelines. Causing more work for me to maintain the guidelines. Stepho talk 04:35, 14 July 2018 (UTC)
- Like I said I use this script per CONSISTENCY - There's a huge divide on it sure but this year you're the only person to have had an issue and last year you were the only person to have had an issue ..... I've been doing this for what 4 years now ? and in that time only 3 people have objected now bearing in mind I have used this script on thousands of articles and like I said only 3 people to my knowledge have objected ..... so like I said I shall carry on using this script, Thanks your message. –Davey2010Talk 12:18, 14 July 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for the catch on Riley Reid, I only caught the obvious vandalism I reverted, I missed the other issues right before it. JamesG5 (talk) 17:33, 14 July 2018 (UTC)
- Hi JamesG5, No worries you wasn't meant to know, I apologise for not leaving an edit summary tho - I keep forgetting that when you revert back to a specific version the first editor's pinged so sorry about that, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 17:41, 14 July 2018 (UTC)

Edition to Iveco Daily
Hi Davey,
I just read an alert on my wiki account and it was from you. You (and me) were 5 years younger in that time, it seems I read really slow. Below this message you will find the text of the alert I got.
I don't have very much to say. But the reason "it did not appear constructive" seems subjetive from my point of view (subjetive too, of course). If I thought the comment was not constructive then I didn't take the time to write it.
I own a truck from SCAMTRUCKS, so I thought I knew something about it. And as the truck name 'SCAM' its not the company name ('SCAM TRUCKS') then I corrected it and so the term is not ambiguous anymore. The other correction was insert the link to the company, link tested (in their time, and today) and active (www.scv.it . scam vehicles).
Now it is as before my contribution, if you think it is better naming the company SCAM as the truck name and then using an ambiguous name, and without a tested link to the company. Then, as I wrote at the very start of this message, I have no more to say. Leave it as it is, but surely you could (not now, in their time) give some arguments when use the sentence 'not constructive'. Contributors will not feel prone to make contributions if these things are usual.
Thank you, Best Regards, Pepe
"May 2013[edit] Information icon Hello, I'm Davey2010. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Iveco Daily because it did not appear constructive. - Hi, I was a newbie at the time of reverting you so I'd take the revert and the warning with a pinch of salt, It was 5 years ago so not worth worrying over, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:30, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
Blocked for 24 hours
I've blocked you for 24 hours per this edit summary. You've been here long enough to know how unacceptable that sort of behaviour is. Nick (talk) 14:47, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- Nick - Funnily enough I was just about to scrub that and apologise but your block has now stopped that, Had Crissy bothered to help instead of being unneedlessly awkward I wouldn't of got so worked up?!. –Davey2010Talk 14:51, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- I think, looking at the situation, it's actually you who has been the awkward editor today. You reverted Ansh666's implementation of their AfD closure here then edit warred to restore your interpretation of the closure here before making a personal attack on Chrissymad here. The AfD is explicit and clear - the closure, in bold, is 'redirect'. The additional comment is 'Content can be merged from page history' which means if anybody wishes to add content relating to Travel Republic to Dnata, they can look at the history of Travel Republic and take the content from one of the old revisions of Travel Republic to add into Dnata (subject to attributing it correctly, of course). The closure does not explicitly require a merge to take place and you attempting to force this to happen is inappropriate. Nick (talk) 15:02, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- Like I said on Chrissys talkpage the closing admin to my knowledge has never closed an AFD as merge (because they disagree with that process) but the consensus on that AFD was clearly for merge, My interpretation of the closure was Ansh was open to anyone merging but didn't want to do this themselves which is why I took it upon myself to go ahead with the merge route myself,
- I could've gone to their talkpage or at DRV but I felt those options would create unneedless drama so I thought my way would create the least drama but apparently not,
- As I have a tendency to make a mess of merges I added a template in the hope someone with more competency would carry this out, I wouldn't say I was being awkward at all to be honest but that being said I do accept your view in that it could and maybe does look that way. –Davey2010Talk 15:42, 21 July 2018 (UTC)

- ummm isn't the block a little hasty Nick? I would have very strongly expected Davey to temper his frustration and apologise. Sometimes it takes a few minutes.. Irondome (talk) 14:56, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- Why am I being blamed for your block? All I said, in a perfectly civil edit summary was that the redirect was per the closed AFD's consensus. You gave me no time to respond after leaving a rather snippy message on my talk page, followed by you calling me a prick. It was also not an appropriate merge, if the entire contents were appropriate for that article, it wouldn't have been closed as redirect and as it stands now, all the content that you copied over is PR fluff, which is precisely what was discussed. If you had a problem with the AFD or close, it should have been taken to the closing admin or WP:DRV. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 14:58, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- Because with all due respect instead of helping me you decided to be awkward over it, If you didn't agree with my merge template you then should've come to my talkpage, That all being said that's no reason to say what I did and I do aplogise for that, When I state "I'm hopeless with X" I would then expect to be helped with or for those disagreeing to come here .... not revert and IMHO get funny over it, Like I said tho I shouldn't of said what I did and apologise for that. –Davey2010Talk 15:01, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- Just an observation but it's a bit odd the only contribution this admin has made all day today is to block me...., Just an observation. –Davey2010Talk 15:04, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- That's because your behaviour today has dragged me away from the article I'm writing. Nick (talk) 15:08, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- Well, a civility notice or a "SAY THIS AGAIN AND YOU WILL BE BLOCKED" would've sufficed. –Davey2010Talk 15:28, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Davey, if you disagree with your block you can request to be unblocked. If you don't know how to, it's {{unblock|your reason here ~~~~}}. LinguistunEinsuno (Linguist111) 19:13, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Linguist111, Nice to see you again, Hope you're doing well :),
- Tbh in some ways I feel the block was justified and in others not so much but either way I feel if I were to request unblocking (and then succeed) something tells me someone's going to go to ANI with the whole "Unblocking Dave now confirms personal attacks are fine" or words to that effect so I feel as a whole it's best just to wait this out,
- Ah well thanks for popping by and yeah hope you're well, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 19:34, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- That's okay. I agree, it is probably preferable to serve block time instead of requesting an unblock, which can cause unnecessary additional drama. I’m pretty sure you’ll have learnt not to insult another again like that. Take care. LinguistunEinsuno (Linguist111) 19:45, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- Exactly, Meh it's only 24 hours so not too bad, Absolutely I mean I wish I never said it in the first place but there we are, Anyway thanks again for popping by, Take care, –Davey2010Talk 20:03, 21 July 2018 (UTC)

- Just for this to go on record I've apologised to Chrissymad[5], Like I said on their talkpage anger or not those words should never of been said, Anyway yeah just wanted it to go on record that I've apologised, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 16:49, 22 July 2018 (UTC)

The Sun
I liked your original argument about reflecting a world-wide point of view. You don't have to be "a sheep" just because a lot of UK editors don't want to think beyond their own point of view :) Wikipedia should be a project for the entire world, not just the 0.8% percent in the UK. I realize that all the US vs. UK conflict on English Wikipedia has created a tribal mentality, but the rest of the world gets ignored in the process. Anyway, thanks for listening. Cheers! Kaldari (talk) 10:07, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Kaldari, True but at the time I didn't think it would sway towards Keep and thought instead of being the awkward one if you like I figured yeah I'd just be a sheep lol, I absolutely agree I wish there wasn't this big divide but unfortunately there is and like you say there are other countries out there not just the UK & US, Ah well no worries thanks for your message :),
- Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 14:22, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
- The truth is Ryan, that US editors and readers often don't think en.Wiki exists outside the US! The solution would be to accord the privilege to busy non US resident Wikipedians to attend real life, dedicated meetings for this massive English language Wikipedia. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:28, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
AfD & AfC
Hi. I'll just point out in case there is any misunderstanding, that AfC doesn't approve anything. AfC itself is not 'approved'. The last say in what gets kept or sent to a deletion process is NPR, our official core process, managed (we hope) by a vetted and accredited user group ;) Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:34, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Kudpung, Admittedly that was certainly a play in my !vote, I've never really paid much attention to the AFC process so don't really have knowledge on it as such, Anyway many thanks for your message :), I've since changed my !vote although not because of the AFC thing, Anyway hope all is well, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 14:44, 29 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi. Hm, I do not understand why consensus would be necessary to update the image. The image you added is from 2017 and the one that I added is 2018. Your "Previous is fine" editing summary does not seem to be a valid argument. What is the inconvenience? Best regards
- Hi, Because the image is only a year old so thus doesn't need changing, You believe the image should be changed and I disagree so consensus should be sought, At present I'm not seeing a valid reason to replace the image other than RECENTISM which obviously isn't a valid reason, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 15:06, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- I think that image needs to updated because she has physically changed: she is still a kid growing up. Whenever a more current good image is available, it's better :) If there isn't a real problem with updating the image, why are you opposing it? "the image is only a year old so thus doesn't need changing" is a pretty personal opinion. --Miaow 15:30, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Miaow, But she wouldn't of changed that much in a year and personally I don't believe we need to update an image every year, Once every 2 years sure but once a year seems rather excessive, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 15:34, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

Recent changes

- You can now use different CSS rules for different skins when you edit templates. This is because of TemplateStyles. [31]
wp10
in ORES is now calledarticlequality
. [32]- When you get a new message on your talk page you get a yellow message in the toolbar. The preference to show or not show this has been removed. [33]
Problems
- UploadWizard had problems with campaigns. Users could not upload files. This has now been fixed. [34]
- You can get a notification when a link is made to a page you created. This has not worked since June. It was fixed last week. [35]

Ongoing edits to John Lewis and Waitrose
I accept that a page move may not be appropriate at this time. However please explain your decision to keep reverting edits regarding new logo and name. This logo is currently in use across selected stores and will receive a rollout. I’ll hold off page move for the time being but feel new logo and branding should be reflected. Steven a91 (talk) 15:13, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker)@Steven a91: The best thing to do is produce a source that says this is definitely the new official name. However, we work on the principle of using the common name and stick with what most people would know the business by. Everyone will still be saying, "I'm just going to pop into John Lewis while I'm here to see if they've got a decent priced toaster". Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:27, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- Hi @Steven a91:, You're more than welcome to start another RFC which this time I shan't touch but IMHO as per COMMONNAME the name should remain, No one's going to call it "Waitrose and partners" ... It will always be known as Waitrose however in a few years I wouldn't object to the moving as sources will eventually begin to use the new name and lede would be changed to reflect all of that, Cheers, –Davey2010Talk 15:44, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:ATS Euromaster 2002 logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Hey, I fulfilled your RFPP request before I saw that you removed it. Pinging protecting admin Oshwah as courtesy. If the page experiences too much disruption, a short-term semi-protection is also an option. Airplaneman ✈ 21:47, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Airplaneman, Ah my apologies I had no idea you had removed it otherwise I would've left it, As the winner's been announced I don't think it'd vandalised that much but if it is I'll return to RFPP lol, I would've requested a lot sooner had I know it was under PC but obviously not being around I had no idea, Anyway many thanks for removing it although if you feel it'd be better reapplied I'd have no objections to you reinstating it, Many thanks, –Davey2010Talk 22:09, 10 September 2018 (UTC)

Recent changes
- When you added or edited a template with the visual editor the input boxes were very big. This has been fixed. The input boxes will now be smaller until you click on them. Then they will change size to fit the text. [37]
Problems
- Some diffs showed lines in the wrong order. This was fixed last week. [38]
- Marking a cross-wiki notification as read didn't work every time. The other wiki was not updated. This has now been fixed. [39]
<maplink>
did not work for a few days. This was because of a bug. This has now been fixed. [40]{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}
is used by some templates. For a period edits saved with{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}
would save the previous user's name and not your username. This is now fixed. Edits made before the bug was fixed will still be wrong and need to be corrected. [41]- When you move a page the title still shows the old page name. The developers are working on fixing this. [42]

AWB filename change
Hi, re this edit: I did not actively change filenames. (just fix bad parameter names). However, I did use AWB GernFixes (spelling etc.), so possiby that routine changed the image name. Incorrectly as we now know. All fine now, have a nice edit. -DePiep (talk) 20:36, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
- Hi DePiep, At the time of reverting back I automatically assumed you were fixing that editors edits (like many other editors do) so without thinking I simply reverted back, When I saw you had edited that page again I realised your edits were unrelated to the other editors which is why I thanked you for both edits, Anyway sorry for the reverts, Thanks –Davey2010Talk 20:53, 16 September 2018 (UTC)

- I dig bus conversions. See e.g. deadhead bus at right. North America1000 03:00, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
Just a bit more, because you're the only bus enthusiast I've ever come across on wiki: I've seen a few very nice bus conversions, clean and modern, like a new motor home inside; hot water, shower, toilet, water tanks, fridge, solar panels, all electrical, tv, stove and oven, etc. Problem is that nowadays, with the price of fuel combined with low miles per gallon, it's expensive to travel in these. If WW III ever goes down, I'll take off in one of these way out into the woods, next to a stream, with a wood burning stove, and with plenty of provisions, including that to thereafter grow and process my own food, and then hope for the best! No nukes is good nukes. North America1000 15:21, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
- Hi NA, Seeing 12 notifications inregards to my talkpage quite nearly gave me a heart attack!, I thought I was the subject at ANI and then thought I was blocked lol, Glad to know that wasn't the case lol, The bus conversion & camping sounds beautiful!, If WW III went down I'd immediately buy one of these and start my own meth business , Nah I'd buy this and loot supermarkets for anything and everything . –Davey2010Talk 15:59, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
- Diamond Davey: In the US, meth heads are referred to as tweakers. I'd imagine there's tweakers in the greater London area, right? Yuck. Worst thing one could put into their body. Stick with that which is organic, beer and whiskey and such, maybe herb if one's into that, right? Reefer appears to be gaining more acceptance nowadays. Conversely, if WW III goes down, your bathtub "go fast" could make a killing. Yeah, I over-edited my above remark, but I wanted it to be accurate, for posterity reasons. I'm not sorry that you received those notifications, because I'm getting older, which means dumber. Ha! What else now? It is not really looting if the windows are all broken and almost everything is gone from a store; then it's just redecoration for gentrification. Those VW buses are great for camping, but their engines SUCK; always breaking down, overheating, having the timing go out, and more. I think they're great fun, but UGH. North America1000 16:43, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
- Yep plenty of those here in the UK but over here they're more commonly referred to as "druggies" and other slang terms, Personally I've never done drugs or smoked not even as a kid, Seeing what smoking and drugs does to you I suppose it's just never appealed to me ....,
- Haha no no the older you get the wiser you become! :)
- Haha sounds like a true VW right there!! , –Davey2010Talk 17:45, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
- Well, your choices are wise. Stay lean, mean and clean. Plus, it's those tweaks that are running around stabbing one-another in London, like a bunch of the dumbest sheeple ever. If WW III goes down, you're invited to my campsite. North America1000 17:58, 14 October 2018 (UTC)

Recent changes
- The Education Program extension was removed from all Wikimedia projects. You can use the Programs and Events Dashboard or the Fountain instead. [52]
Problems
- There was a problem when you copied and pasted from a table with the visual editor. It could add
href
where it shouldn't be. This has now been fixed. [53]
Changes later this week
- Because of a data centre test you will be able to read but not edit the wikis for up to an hour on 10 October. This will start at 14:00 (UTC). You might lose edits if you try to save during this time. The time when you can't edit might be shorter than an hour. You can read more about this.
- Because of the data centre test there will be no new version of MediaWiki this week. Changes for this week will come next week instead.
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 10 October at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.

ORCP
Just a passing thought re:your comment here - should the editor be considered to be "repeatedly coming" to ORCP if they leave 12 months between consecutive polls? Notwithstanding your conclusion that there's been little change since the previous poll, it was in Sep. 2017, making it not all that recent. Airbornemihir (talk) 16:40, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Airbornemihir, Even annually I would still consider this as "repeatedly coming" Had it been over a year then I would consider that as a simple retry (IE not repeatedly coming if that makes sense), Many thanks, –Davey2010Talk 17:03, 10 October 2018 (UTC)

Problems
- Some pages, edits and users disappeared for a short while after the server switch. Missing content and users was fixed within a day. Some preferences and other things might take a few more days to fix. [54]
- Wikis are updated with new and updated translations from translatewiki.net again. This will happen once a week. The developers are working on fixing the problem so we can have translation updates more often again. [55]
Changes later this week
- When you create an abuse filter that prevents edits you can now write a specific error message for it. Before this all abuse filters that prevented edits had the same error message. [56]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 16 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 17 October. It will be on all wikis from 18 October (calendar).
Meetings
- There will be no more meetings with the Editing team. This is because not enough Wikimedians were interested. To tell developers which bugs you think are the most important you can use Phabricator as normal. [57]
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 17 October at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.

Edit reversion
Hello Davey2010,
today you reversed my edit on the article Eurovision Song Contest 2018, where I changed the Russian Kiev (Киев) to the Ukrainian Kyiv (Київ).
Here's three reasons why I would like to see you reverse your reversion:
1) "Kyiv" was used in all official material of the contest
2) Kyiv is Ukrainian-speaking
3) Ukrainian is the only official language of Ukraine List of official languages by country and territory#U
Please restore my version of the article.

- Hi EurovisionAndXenomorphs, Apologies for not getting back to you sooner (I only recieved one notification which was for the newsletter after this message so had no idea you even left a message until now)
- There seems to be a lot of to and fro as to what the country should go by, As the article goes with Kiev throughout it's only right the name is applied elsewhere, It's also worth noting a recent RM was closed as not moved (being in favour of Kiev instead of Kyiv),
- If you want wikilinks changed you should probably go to Talk:Kiev and get some sort of consensus as opposed to randomly changing articles here and there,
- Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 00:42, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
- Apologies in advance if there's typos etc - Currently have a migraine due to lack of sleep meaning the laptop brightness is turned down low meaning I can't really see sweet f all so if there are errors please accept my apologies. –Davey2010Talk 00:44, 29 October 2018 (UTC)

- When you edit with the visual editor you can use the "Automatic" citation tab. This helps you generate citations. You will now be able to write plain text citations or the title of a journal article or a book in this tab. This will search the Crossref and WorldCat databases and add the top result. [63]

Resolution about changing months
I was temporary inactive from editing Wikipedia and I watch the articles to avoid vandalism. But I didn't you warn me month change. But listen, changing the month on every month is wrong. I want to say I am extremely sorry. I know I am not disruptive. I was quiet and slow from editing. Listen Davey, I know it was difficult for me and changing the months is wrong and I am extremely sorry. If you can accept my apology. Also, I am scared about the "current" dissapearing and I don't want to talk about on a daily basis. I am not owning articles but everyone is allowed to edit. I just watch some aricles to avoid IP vandals too. I will still watch and edit some and I will be careful and have to do better than that next time do not warn me again and it will never happen again. I will happy for your reply so it will not happen again. Tell User:Mungo Kitsch I am sincerely apologize and It will never happen again. This is a resolution and I hope you will accept my apology. Thanks. Steam5 (talk) 13:38, 9 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Steam5, No need to apologise it's all cool but as a future note if you keep changing the months in templates as well the accessdates then you run the risk of being blocked, Like I said the months should only be changed if the entire article has had the DMY/MDY tool applied,
- You still haven't explained this and this tho..... Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 14:00, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

I think I edit to watch the word "current" on top of the article's history page until it dissapears. Is there an alternate way to watch some articles to avoid vandalism by random IPs and most IPs via mobile devices? Thanks. Steam5 (talk) 14:19, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

I reverted your close
Since you said you didn't object to being reverted there, I went ahead and did it. I don't feel like anything was resolved one way or the other. I'm willing to be wrong on this, but I'd like a little clarity on the subject first. SarekOfVulcan (talk) 22:11, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

Recent changes
- Some old mobile browsers can use the watchlist again. This has not worked for a while. These browsers are called grade C browsers. This helps for example Windows Phone 8.1 with Internet Explorer and Lumia 535 with Windows 10. [64]
Problems
- You can choose to see edit conflicts in a two-column view. This is a beta feature. You can find it in your preferences. Users who use this view saw the edit conflict resolution page when they wanted to see a preview. This has been fixed. [65][66][67]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 13 November. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 14 November. It will be on all wikis from 15 November (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 14 November at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- You can use the content translation tool to translate articles. The developers are working on a new version. One of the changes will be a maintenance category. Articles where users add a lot of text from machine translation without changing it will be in that category. This is so the community can review it. The users will also have been warned before they publish the article that it has a lot of unchanged text from machine translations. [68]

Is there a reason CSS image crop is not okay in infoboxes? Just asking, I don't know. By the way, I can probably extract a slighty better (very minor improvement really) image as I found a slightly better source. - Alexis Jazz 05:45, 13 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Alexis Jazz, Apologies for the delayed response I'd completely forgot about your message (and then saw your name at Commons which reminded me: ) )
- Generally cropped versions are preferred over the template stuff as with cropped images it's not really hard to go wrong .... whereas with the template stuff it would take some reading first,
- Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 17:24, 13 November 2018 (UTC)
Alfred Theodore Joseph Bastien
Can you please review your assessment on the file moves for Alfred Theodore Joseph Bastien. I cna't see how have the words "Creator" in front of the name serves any purpose. I would have thought the request being at uploader request would have been sufficient. Standard naming for such files is artist - work name - accession number. Much appreciated.--Labattblueboy (talk) 14:06, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Labattblueboy, I originally had an issue with the first request but's gone completely out of my head as to what the issue was so I've gone ahead and renamed it (I thought I added a reason when declining but seemingly not so no idea), Anyway apologies for that, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 14:35, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
You recently offered a statement in a request for arbitration. The Arbitration Committee has accepted that request for arbitration and an arbitration case has been opened at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Fred Bauder. Evidence that you wish the arbitrators to consider should be added to the evidence subpage, at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Fred Bauder/Evidence. Please add your evidence by November 27, 2018, which is when the evidence phase closes. You can also contribute to the case workshop subpage, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Fred Bauder/Workshop. For a guide to the arbitration process, see Wikipedia:Arbitration/Guide to arbitration. For the Arbitration Committee, --Cameron11598 (Talk) 20:57, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
François Poullain de la Barre
Instead of using them for meaningless threats, you might use one or even several of your neurones to realize that File:Francois Poullain de la Barre.jpg and File:Pierre Bayle.jpg contain the very same portrait. So one of them needs to be renamed or deleted.Sapphorain (talk) 23:05, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- Sapphorain Your rename request "Please rename or suppress; this is NOT de la Barre" makes no mention of this other portrait, Simply saying "This is NOT so and so" means nothing ..... –Davey2010Talk 00:04, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
- But I did mention this other portrait in the first request, which was also rejected. Moreover I had put a link to this other portrait in the description of the de la Barre file. Sapphorain (talk) 07:36, 17 November 2018 (UTC)

Blackpool Transport reverted edit 22 August 2018
Hello Davey2010, I have recently noticed that you reverted a number of edits in one go, on the Blackpool Transport Wikipedia page back on the 22 August 2018. One of those edits reverted was contributed by myself back on the 18 March 2018, where you reverted to the last revision done just before mine, which was contributed on the 2 January 2018. My edit mainly focused on all the past historic buses that operated in Blackpool since 1921, under the heading "List of bus types". You did leave a reason for reverting all those edits, which was "Restore back to last good version - bus cruft / copyvio imgs". However, I do not understand from that reason why you reverted my edit. There is another Wikipedia page linked to the Blackpool Transport page called Blackpool Tramway, which gives extensive information on all of the Blackpool Tramway tramcar fleet classes from 1885 onwards, so I feel that there should also be a page on Wikipedia that covers all the Blackpool bus fleet classes that have operated in Blackpool since 1921, either on the Blackpool Transport page or on a separate new page linked to the Blackpool Transport page. Could you explain why you therefore reverted my edit please? Thankyou.
PryceV1 (talk) 20:45, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hi PryceV1, I still stand by that comment I feel the content fails BUSCRUFT - When I say buscruft I mean over-detailed content that would only interest bus enthusiasts, Ofcourse I'm not the be all and end all of Wikipedia so I would kindly suggest you start an RFC on the talkpage, I also don't agree with your changes on the Tramways article but reverting back would be disruptove and in all fairness no one else has reverted you or seemingly had an issue, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 20:57, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:PeoplePlus Logo.png.
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 04:02, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

I suggest dropping the stick regarding Patrick. Find more (recent) bad taggings/nominations by Patrick so you can actually make a solid point, or find a better target.

All good
Thanks for the apology. May seem like nothing, but it is rare on here for people to step up and say they're sorry, even over something small like a mistimed sarcastic comment. The comment itself wasn't a big deal, but it came at a time when I was already having a rough day. So your willingness to step up and apologize is greatly appreciated. Thanks again. --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 18:13, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Zackmann08, Again really sorry for the dickish comment, Unfortunately the less sleep I have the more of a dick I become and it certainly doesn't help when you're sat in a class for 6-7 hours doing mind-numbing rubbish you've done 5 times before!!,
- Had I remembered I would've struck and apologised much much sooner but yeah really really sorry for the comment,
- Many thanks for your message :),
Take care, –Davey2010Talk 18:32, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

- Admins will not be able to unblock themselves if they are blocked by someone other than themselves. This is because it can cause damage if someone else takes over an admin account and other admins can't block them. If this is a problem for your community you can report it on Phabricator. You can also ask questions on Meta. There is a discussion on Phabricator about how to solve this if two admins fight with each other on a small wiki. [76]
- Small SVG images are now bigger when you see them in MediaViewer. [77]
- You can go to a section from the edit summary by clicking on the section name. Before this you had to click on the arrow. [78]

Thanks Joesimnett (talk) 13:56, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

Closing a discussion on an admin noticeboard
It's not that I disagree. In fact, I agree that nothing will come from that report. But if memory serves me right, you were warned previously not to close threads on admin noticeboards. It's rather unusual on Commons. So it may not be wise.
Again, I personally agree with the closure itself. But on Commons this is generally left to admins. I'm not going to stop or revert you, just reminding you. - Alexis Jazz 01:05, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Alexis Jazz, Many thanks for your message, My apologies I did actually forget all about it, Being used to doing it here it's rather hard remembering not to do it there, I just did it without thinking,

- Hi Simon Adler, The way Commons sees it is an Administrator board therefore only admins must close discussions ... if you take a look over there generally closures are a rare thing meaning like the one I closed discussions go from the core issue to something then completely unrelated and or trivial and then discussions turn into a timesink, Alexis was to put it bluntly saving me from the timesink that would end up being another ANU discussion over the closure, –Davey2010Talk 02:49, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

This is because an attacker could cause damage to the wikis if they took over these accounts. [81][82]
- When you hover over a footnote it will show you the reference as a pop-up. This is so you don't have to jump down to the bottom of the page to see a reference. This will happen in 2019. Some wikis already have gadgets that do this. You will be able to turn it off. [83]

- Hi Vauxford, Thanks so much!, I too have very fond memories of these, Such a shame to see such a great vehicle go from being the most seen bus or van to now barely being seen at all, I even recall for a good 2-3-4 years these were constant on sites like Ebay and the alike ... now there's barely a convoy on there, Guess these beauties can't last forever unfortunately :(,
- Many thanks for the barnstar!, Keep up the great work mate, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 16:54, 16 December 2018 (UTC)
- Indeed, it hard to find one in good condition, the only decent ones I can find are late 2005/2006. The one on the Infobox is missing it wing mirror (I didn't notice this at the time). --Vauxford (talk) 17:17, 16 December 2018 (UTC)
- Couldn't tell you the years but I know recently as well as in the past I've seen some that are in immaculate condition surprisingly, Haha not gonna lie I did notice it a few months ago but wasn't worth mentioning or even replacing :), –Davey2010Talk 17:27, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

Exhibit "A"?
Hello! I read your recent comment at the discussion about C. Iblis. I have made a recent return to regular editing, and I have indeed viewed those "IAR" banners here and there. Just to add a mild comment: I think that kind of thing sets a very bad example for other editors who may not understand what the intention is (I do not,) and they may take it as a touchstone to engage in contentious editing/ discussion with impunity. If I were myself accused of such a thing, I would point to the permission of such banners as prima facie. This is not meant to be a complaint or indictment of any kind, only my opinion. Regards, Hamster Sandwich (talk) 19:54, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments, I would rather not get into a debate over it but for me I prefer to follow common sense than every policy by the letter, I've pretty much gone with IAR in the 5-6 years of being here, Anyway thanks again for your comments. –Davey2010Talk 19:59, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Tech News
- Because of the holidays the next issue of Tech News will be sent out on 7 January 2019.
Recent changes
- Some templates that show notices about the content of the page will now be shown on the mobile website. In many cases they were hidden before. [84][85]
- Admins can no longer unblock themselves, except for self-blocks. A blocked admin can block the user who blocked them but no one else. This is so no one can block all admins on a wiki without being stopped. [86]
- The ParserMigration extension has been removed. It compared the result of two versions of the MediaWiki wikitext parsing pipeline. It was used when we moved to the Remex parsing library instead of Tidy.
Problems
<ref>
tags can use parameters such as "name" or "group". For example<ref name="adams" group="books">
. If a<ref>
tag has more than two parameters all parameters are ignored. You don't get a warning that they don't work. This will soon be fixed. [87]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 18 December. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 19 December. It will be on all wikis from 20 December (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 19 December at 16:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The Wikimedia Foundation Android app team are working on making it easier to edit on mobile phones. You can read more about these plans. If you have an Android phone and speak at least two languages you can help testing in English. Tell Dchen (WMF) you want to be part of the testing by writing on her talk page or email her.
-
tiles.wmflabs.org
andwma.wmflabs.org
will stop working. They have no maintainers and run an old operating system. Tools which use it could stop working. This includes the mapnik gadget, hill shading, and hike and bike layers. New maintainers could help out and keep it going. [88]

Hi Davey2010. Regarding your recent report at WP:AIV, I'd like to give a friendly reminder about not publicly connecting Wikipedia usernames to real world identities. Wikipedia takes the WP:OUTING policy seriously, even with well intentioned actions. Regards, -- Ed (Edgar181) 19:48, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Ed, My sincere apologies, Despite the claim I actually have no idea if they do even work there but I simply reached that conclusion only due to their edits although now I think of it it could've been a parent or even a copy/paste job, I'll be a lot more careful infuture, My apologies again, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 20:07, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

I will be sleepless tonight, waiting for Santa to drop a four-and-twenty or a Cornish pasty down the chimbly for brekkie. No matter how elegantly I snuff the Italian trough with its infinite variety, -as I did tonight, hosted by a master chef in his kitchen, the barbarian within at times breaks out for the earliest tucker redolent in the memory banks. - Feel free to! Category:Christmas WikiLove templates is a wonderful list I seem to keep losing and simultaneously rediscovering by near fluke. Okay, yes. It was last year that was my first Christmas on the 'pedia and yes that means it was only once before that I missed it, but give it to me this one time. It is probably going to become tradition.
- That template in particular is User:Altamel/Christmas, if you're interested. With over 35 million accounts and 130k active editors (if I recall correctly), there are always users in need of a seasonal template, so feel free to take it for a spin even now, it is literally Christmas at least somewhere for the next ~26 hours (counting Hawaii) . --TheSandDoctor Talk 08:33, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

I might try and automate the process (ie using templates & logic to display yearly on Dec 25th-26th server time) for future years, but we shall see. Anyways, I am actually heading off for the night now haha. Have a good one, --TheSandDoctor Talk 08:54, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
- User:TheSandDoctor Haha well I feel honoured , Wait is it the 26th now there then ?, Currently as of writing this it's 11am :), Anyway thanks so much and I hope have or had a great Christmas, Take care, –Davey2010 Merry Christmas / Happy New Year 11:03, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
- When you sent that, it was 3:03am Dec 25th my time. Currently (at time of writing) 10:13am Christmas day. I just meant the 26th as that would ensure it was up for the entirety of Christmas across all timezones. --TheSandDoctor Talk 18:13, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

Merry Christmas!
Methinks I see an heavenly Host Of angels on the wing; Methinks I hear their cheerful notes, So merrily they sing. Let all your fears be banished hence, Glad tidings I proclaim; For there's a Savior born today And Jesus is his name. Lay down your crooks and quit your flocks, To Bethlehem repair; And let your wandering steps be squared By yonder shining star. Seek not in courts or palaces; Nor royal curtains draw; But search the stable, See your God extended on the straw. Then learn from hence, ye rural swains, The meekness of your God, Who left the boundless realms of joy, To ransom you with blood. The master of the inn refused A more commodious place; Ungenerous soul of savage mold And destitute of grace. - from William Billings, "Shiloh" |
