Pictures

[edit]

I'm confused on whether or not some pics would be free-use images. If I would scan in a picture out of a manga book and put it on the article for that manga, would that be fair use? A pyrate's life for me... (talk) 16:34, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't understand image policy here. Sorry that I can't help you more. Try WP:FAIR. --Gimme danger (talk) 08:50, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think I found an answer here. Just to make sure I've got this straight, I would be allowed to scan in like a page or a few panels, but not too much because the reader wouldn't have to actually go get the comic/manga/whatever and read it, right? A pyrate's life for me... (talk) 16:56, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I really can't help you here. I have no clue. Ask a question over at WPComics and they'll be able to help you out. I think that what you're talking about would be okay, but I'm not sure. --Gimme danger (talk) 21:26, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I saw this manga on the wikiproject:anime and manga page on a list of requested articles, so I looked it up and started an article about it. Next day, I saw that it was already suggested to be deleted. I understand why people would want to delete it, since it's so short and doesn't cite any references yet. But I have a question: If I put a link to http://onemanga.com at the bottom of the article, which is where I read it, would that be considered a reference? It is where I got the information, but I don't know if it would count or not. Thanks. A pyrate's life for me... (talk) 15:19, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, no, that wouldn't count as a reference. In order to beat back notability questions, you'll have to find third party sources of information, like an extended review in a magazine or something like that. I'd suggest looking at any featured articles on project anime and seeing what kind of sources that they cite. Hope that's helpful. Good luck with the article. --Gimme danger (talk) 23:07, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow. Looked at the featured articles, and my article is sooooooooo dead. I can keep looking for sources like that (which i probably will, since it will probably bug me to death if i don't), but by the time I find some good ones, somebody's probably going to delete the article. (**ughh**) Oh, well. I'm gonna look for some good sources, and a million years from now, I'll completely redo the article. Anyway, thanks. A pyrate's life for me... (talk) 15:58, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would suggest that you make a copy of your article in your userspace. When it's more finished, you can upload it to article space. If you need help with that let me know. --Gimme danger (talk) 16:25, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think I remember reading something about how to do that somewhere, but I just kinda skimmed through it at the time, and I have no clue where it was. Sounds like a good idea, though. How do you do that? A pyrate's life for me... (talk) 15:50, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A subpage is a page of the form Page/Subpage. To create a subpage from your user page, insert /NameOfSubpage on your user page. This will make a redlink which you can follow to create your new subpage. For example: Example yields: Example. --Gimme danger (talk) 18:40, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it worked! Thank you!

New! BCAD drive from Milhist

[edit]

Can I invite you to particpate in our new assessment drive? It's strictly for experienced wiki-gnomes and has a degree of friendly competition built-in. It involves re-evaluating around 3500 Milhist B-Class articles to ensure they match our new criteria. As ever, we're offering a range of awards as our way of expressing our thanks. The drive doesn't start until 18:00 (UTC) on March 10 but you can sign up in advance here. It would be great if you can spare the time, --ROGER DAVIES talk 05:33, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies

[edit]

I must have overlooked something then, maybe you could point me in the right direction, isn't the game page "advertising" the game or... I was just referencing as to where I got the information. SSJNinjaMonkey (talk) 04:58, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, got a little trigger happy. I was mostly offended by the direct insertion of a link, so I've changed that into a reference. No time to do more. Good luck with editing and welcome to Wikipedia!--Gimme danger (talk) 05:10, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thank you for the revert. These sockpuppet IPs are getting a little too silly. :P -WarthogDemon 02:22, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rightback at ya. :-D --Gimme danger (talk) 02:23, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your warning to 71.135.165.181

[edit]

About this warning: If you're going to do vandalism patrol, make sure a user has in fact committed vandalism before reverting or warning them. Templates X1-9 are sandboxes, as you would have seen if you'd bothered to look at it before reverting, and the IP was certainly testing in very good faith indeed, with no irony implied. Please don't bother people for editing these templates again. -- Zsero (talk) 05:37, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks from Fleet Captain

[edit]

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. FleetCaptain (talk) 19:50, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Enjoy Wikipedia!--Gimme danger (talk) 19:50, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reverting vandalism on my talk page. swaq 18:35, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for checking up on me

[edit]

Funny thing is I was wondering if you'd noticed and dropped me. Meat-space is keeping me busy.

Yes, I've mainly done minor refinements, but I still plan on helping out Santeria.

Rhesusmonkeyboy (talk) 17:50, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh goodness, no. I didn't even think of that. I just wanted space for more userboxes and thought that moving my adoptee boxes to a new page would be a good way to free it up. Meat-space ought to be keeping me busy as well, though I'm very good at letting wikipedia interfere with that. :-) I'll check up on you occasionally and feel free to drop me a line. I just wanted to know that you've remained adhered to the face of the earth. --Gimme danger (talk) 17:54, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your Third Opininon is being ignored. --MahaPanta (talk) 08:26, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Should I continue to uphold your Third Opinion? I don't want to violate the 3RR. --MahaPanta (talk) 04:10, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
