[edit]I didn't mean to assume or imply that you would go out of your way to create articles of that sort just because you could, although having re-read I accept that that's exactly how it reads. The point I was attempting to make was that you are one of many prolific article creators, which is a good thing. But that a by-product of this project having prolific creators is that if the notability bar is perceived to have lowered, it probably would result in a non-trivial number of articles being created on very marginally notable individuals.
Sorry for the confusion. Regards, —WFC— 12:18, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
I noticed you'd added the footballers to the Alfred Brown disambiguation page, and that Rotherham United were listed as one of the above's clubs, but they aren't listed in Michael Joyce's book. This could be a confusion with Frank Brown, who played for both Rotherham and Blackpool around the same time. - Dudesleeper talk 13:10, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
Matt Le Tissier stats
[edit]Hi, I noticed you filled in his stats table. Awesome! Can I ask where you found the info for the missing details? I found it almost to find a website with them. --MattM4> 15:27, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Yeah I've used that site plenty of times. Doesn't tell you anything about the number of apps in the cup though, which makes it less useful for this particular list. J Mo 101 (talk) 08:12, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Paul Barry
[edit]Dear Daemonic Kangaroo,
Could you please undo your recent moving of the Paul Barry (Songwriter) page to Paul Barry (record producer) as this is simply untrue. Paul Barry has himself asked me to set up his wikipedia page and I know first hand that he IS a Songwriter NOT a Record producer.

Hello, you tagged KODA (Denmark) as an orphan. There is nothing much to do about it. I already added some more references and links. Also categories. If you see some other (similar) organizations such as Teosto, there are nothing much to say about it. But I will put more wording. Would you please come and visit the page again?
- Another thing, when I write KODA or KODA (Denmark) in the search engine of the Wikipedia, it doesn't show anything . How can I solve this issue? Will you please help me. Thanks. Fusion is the future (talk) 09:55, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
Hello Daemonic Kangaroo. Of course, how old someone is has nothing to do with the deletion debate. However, I felt it would be worth pointing out, because he probably doesn't know the policies, his user page says he's a Hyde fan, and to delete the article he's been working on for weeks might have a demoralising effect on him, and has the side effect of being BITEY. Nobodies' fault of course and unavoidable, but I felt it worthwhile to point out. Christopher Connor (talk) 22:24, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
I am trying to put together an article on Dai Davies (footballer born 1880); the Who's Who of Welsh International Soccer Players lists him as "David (Dai) Davies" (1880-1944) and says that he first played Rugby Union for Llanelli before switching to Rugby League with Swinton in 1898 where he won a Rugby League Challenge Cup medal in 1900. In 1902 he switched again, this time to Association Football, joining Bolton Wanderers (as a goalkeeper), appearing in the 1904 FA Cup Final. He also won three caps for Wales.
In 1910, he switched back to Rugby Union with Swinton and, with his brother Dan (also a Swinton player), won an international cap for Wales against England in October 1910. He finished his career with Leigh in 1913.
You created an article on Daniel Davies (rugby league) who I assume is the brother; you also created the article on David Davies (rugby league) who appears to be a different player although he also was with Swinton in 1910.
The List of Wales national rugby league team players include two other Dai Davies, but these both came later, but not this one. Likewise, he is not mentioned at either The Rugby League project database nor at the Wales Rugby League player database.
There are two mentions of him on the web, here and here.
Any help or pointers you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 16:32, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- I think you're correct, and that none of the existing rugby player articles of David "Dai" Davies are your man. The Wales Rugby League Player Database sorts the players by appearance date, and it has Dan Davies winning his only cap in 1910, and as you point out Swinton Supporters' Trust, and Dai Davies - All Round Sportsman state that Dai Davies won his cap in 1910, so I think the issue is conflicting references, and only one of the Davies brothers actually won a cap, but which one… Dai or Dan? I have a contact in the 'Wales Rugby League' so I'll email him tomorrow, and I'll also try Ian Jackson at Swinton Lions Supporters' Trust. Cheers. DynamoDegsy (talk) 20:16, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- According to Ian Golden at Wales Rugby League, both brothers were in the team in 1910. Dan at number 6 (Stand-off/Five-eighth), and Dai at number 11 (Left-Second-row). Which would mean that David Davies (rugby league) is Dai Davies (footballer born 1880)... the question is, if he was at Bolton Wanderers between 1902 and 1910, how did he manage to win caps for Wales Rugby League while at (the now defunct) Merthyr Tydfil RLFC between 1908 and 1910, as it's 200-miles from Merthyr Tydfil to Bolton? Perhaps he was no longer first-choice 'keeper at Bolton, and was allowed to play rugby league. Also, the Swinton Lions Supporters' Trust states Dai retired age 33, which if born in 1880 would have been 1913, but according to Oldham Rugby League Heritage Trust, he played on until 1921, which would have made him 41, old for a rugby league footballer at any time, but particularly then. However, as 1912/13 is when he supposedly left Swinton for Oldham, perhaps by "retired", the Swinton Lions Supporters' Trust page means "left Swinton". Cheers. DynamoDegsy (talk) 12:58, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
- According to Ian Jackson at Swinton Lions Supporters' Trust, Swinton had three players of Welsh origin circa-1910 named Davies; Dan, and Dai who were brothers, and 'David B' who wasn't a relation. So, I think the Wales RL website may have merged 'Dai', and 'David B' into one person. This could explain how 'Dai' managed to be a goalkeeper at Bolton Wanderers between 1902 and 1910, while 'David B' managed to win caps for Wales Rugby League while at Merthyr Tydfil RLFC between 1908 and 1910. So I assume that Merthyr Tydfil, Swinton, and Oldham is 'David B', and the Llanelli RU, Swinton, Bolton Wanderers, and Swinton is 'Dai'. I've asked Ian Jackson whether both 'Dai' and 'David B' won caps for Wales while at Swinton, so I'll get back to you when I know more. Cheers. DynamoDegsy (talk) 12:51, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the very helpful replies, although I am still rather confused. This article, from the Swinton supporters website, gives a biography which only refers to his cap against England on 10th December 1910, whilst the other article states "In 1910, he made his Wales RL debut against England at Coventry". This is not consistent with the David Davies (rugby league) article which gives a Wales career from 1908 to 1913, which period covers his time at both Merthyr Tydfil and Oldham. Very curious. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 18:58, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the latest message - I await the next one which will hopefullly make everyting clear. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 12:58, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hi - sorry to bother you again, but were you able to find out any more? Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 12:43, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- The Wales Rugby League Player Database still shows only one David/Dai around this time, so I believe 'walesrugbyleague' have merged them together. The other references have Dai winning just the 1-cap in 1910, so assuming he didn't win more than 1-cap, then David B. must have won only 8-caps not the 9-caps stated, and although it appears the brothers Dai and Dan both played that day, I don't know whther David B. played that day as well. I hope I haven't stolen your thunder, but I was at a loose-end this morning, so I've actually created Dai Davies (footballer born 1880). I hope you feel I've done Dai justice. Cheers. DynamoDegsy (talk) 13:54, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- This is exciting, no article I've been involved with has ever been put up for DYK before. In respect of the List of players who have converted from one football code to another, I guess Dai will be in three sections; Rugby Union → Rugby League, Rugby League → Association Football, and Association Football → Rugby League. However, Dai isn't the only person to play international rugby and international soccer; in the 1870s Henry Renny-Tailyour played for Scotland (RU) and Scotland (soccer), in the 1880s…1900s John Willie Sutcliffe played for England (RU) and England (soccer), in the 1930s/40s Kevin O'Flanagan, and his brother Mick O'Flanagan played for Ireland (soccer) and Ireland (RU), and in the 1990s/2000s Melissa Ruscoe played for New Zealand (soccer), and New Zealand (RU), but it appears Dai is the only person to have played international rugby league and international soccer, and the only Welshman international rugby (any code) and soccer, but this is only based on the information from the List of players who have converted from one football code to another article. Apologies for the occasional use of the word "soccer", it's shorter than Association Football, less ambiguous than football, and I don't mind it, as it's olde English. Cheers. DynamoDegsy (talk) 17:54, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
And with John Willie Sutcliffe leaving Bolton Wanderers in 1902, and Dai Davies arriving in 1902, Davies effectively replaced Sutcliffe as goalkeeper, quite a coincidence. Cheers. DynamoDegsy (talk) 21:37, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Infobox
[edit]I know there are no hard and fast rules as to how to draw up an infobox, but I'm unsure why you're insisting on making edits which make no intrinsic change to the article and make the infobox less easy rather than more easy to use, as per your edits on Lee Holmes. Brad78 (talk) 18:26, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- That's fair enough. Though I still don't know why you had to change the whole format of the infobox to update one statistic. Brad78 (talk) 18:29, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- As I said there are no hard and fast rules as how to draw up an infobox. But the format before your edit was for the data all on one line rather than the format you changed it to afterwards. Brad78 (talk) 18:39, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
It's quite possible to make an argument for deletion without insulting an article subject by calling him a "complete non-entity". Please keep your comments civil. Phil Bridger (talk) 20:45, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think that the New York Times publishes profiles on "non-entities". You may not be familiar with major US broadcast outlets like NPR and Nightline, but they also do not interview non-entities. Cullen328 (talk) 08:04, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Daemonic Kangaroo, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Appraisal bumping, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Dabomb87 (talk) 21:28, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Juggernaut (Warcraft II)
[edit]Hello Daemonic Kangaroo. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 03:14, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Hello Daemonic Kangaroo. I've removed the speedy tag from this article. According to the article Falco won a national journalism prize, which is a clear assertion of notability. Moreover, the fact was referenced. Please, review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging more articles. Thank you. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 07:25, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Just so you know, CSD#G1 does not apply to pages like that. It only applies to patent nonsense, e.g. eghhelwhgfnkthrgsdk. Articles like that, while clear hoaxes, are comprehensible, and thus, not speediable. Thanks for your CSD work! (X! · talk) · @730 · 16:30, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Geoff was correct in the family connection to Jack Bowers. However the problem in providing the facts to prove this link is difficult in so much as Mrs Lindsey is still living, I was in the middle of providing a link to her family tree and possibly BMD references, sorry I am slow as am I am not fully aufait with wiki and html editing so takes me a while to make sure things are correct. But you hastily edited the article which I was still working on. MBorrill (talk) 07:23, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Ok thank you so much it would be really helpful for our grade. And yes! come to Mexico, it's really beautiful and food is awesome haha. Oh and the difference between pozol and pozole is that pozol is a beverage made of cocoa and dough and pozole is a soup made with a kind of corn named cacahuazintle. You can add chicken or cow head to the pozole. It may sound horrible but it actually tastes really good :) Goochinaski (talk) 00:33, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
Pozole/Pozol
[edit]They are the same, simply a different transliteration from the original Nahuatl word. Since this is a "student created" article, let me leave a message for their teacher, Thelmadatter and let her know. The articles should be merged into Pozole, as the Pozol article contains potentially good information, if it can be sourced. --nsaum75¡שיחת! 04:58, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

I see that you tagged Индезит for speedy deletion as a copy of the Russian Wikipedia article ru:Indesit. Did you actually look at that Russian article? It does not even roughly resemble the article on English Wikipedia. In fact the latter is not even in Russian, it is Bulgarian. You may like to PROD the article if you want it deleted, but it does not satisfy the specified speedy deletion criterion. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:18, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- After I wrote the above message I found that we already have an English Wikipedia article at Indesit, so I have deleted the Bulgarian one under speedy deletion criterion A10 (recently created article that duplicates an existing topic). Hi - you reverted a PROD removal using Twinkle rollback which gives an edit summary indicating the previous edit to be vandalism. PROD removal is not generally vandalism as anyone including the author has the right to delete a PROD tag (per WP:CONTESTED) and a PROD tag may not be replaced. Using TW in this instance could be considered a little BITEY to a relative newcomer. The article must now follow the AfD path and is listed under Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kori Davis.--ClubOranjeT 06:18, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

- I leave the matter for the review of other more experienced reviewers. --Redtigerxyz Talk 05:26, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- May be a hook about the wax model of Elgin Marbles would be interesting..... --Redtigerxyz Talk 05:59, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- [4] has some nice self-photographs. Choose some and add to the article and may be also as pictured in DYK. I verified ALT2 you suggested. --Redtigerxyz Talk 18:18, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi, are you able to confirm from your book sources whether this player did later manage Workington. His wiki article says he did but that fact is not sourced. This source [5] indicates that a Welsh intl' called Tommy Jones managed Workington but Tom/Tommy etc can be called differently so on its own its not a source to confirm which one of the 4 Welsh intl's it is. Thanks. Eldumpo (talk) 19:00, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the additional info, and for changing the article name which was also on my list. I have added text/ref saying he was Workington caretaker and have added the Workington template to his article. Eldumpo (talk) 15:41, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Indonesia's first game
[edit]Hi, could you please explain why you said the match between Dutch East Indies and Singapore in 1921 is not an official match? If it is because of the explanation in RSSF, that the PSSI does not recognize any of the NIVB/NIVU matches, then the game against Japan in 1934 would be an unofficial match too? Thank you.
Dre.comandante (talk) 17:32, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
- OK, so you said it is unofficial based on http://eloratings.net/Indonesia.htm, but can we really rely on eloratings.net? I mean, it was 1921 and it was only a friendly game, eloratings.net probably don't have the data about the game. And, i checked some of the Indonesian matches at eloratings.net the other day and found out somewhere in early 2000s they included a match against U-23 teams, so some of the datas might be inaccurate. Also, the source for the DEI vs Singapore match written in RSSSF here is "(FIF 31) FIFA, World Football Almanac, 1931 (reprint 2005)." So if it is released by FIFA, don't you think it's official? It doesn't matter if PSSI recognize the match or not, it's FIFA who decide which match is a FIFA official match.
- If it is also included in Singapore's and Australia's RSSSF page, will it make it an official match? Because Indonesia's RSSSF page was just updated on December 2, 2010 as it says on the bottom of the page (see before the update). Maybe they haven't updated all the others. About the "FIFA who decide which match is a FIFA official match" i was talking about FIFA-recognized matches.
Skeat/Edwards
[edit]Hi there
Fair play if Skeat is indeed notable, however the guestbook of some dude's personal website clearly isn't a reliable source, so you'd need something else to cite the fact that Skeat designed that window. I've added the link to the photo back in as an external links. There's already a reliable source on that sentence supporting the existence of the window so I don't think it's needed there as an actual source, hope that makes sense...... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 13:53, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- Cool. Heaven only knows which of those accursed citation templates would be suitable for that source :-) -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 14:01, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- Sorted. -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 14:08, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
