Good afternoon - I just noticed that you changed a small portion of the dates at Shooting of Kathryn Steinle from month/day/year format to day/month/year format. I went ahead and changed them back for consistency per the guideline in the subject line. If there were not already a pretty clearly established style (and if this article wasn't closely tied to the US where MDY tends to predominate), we would have a stronger case for DMY. Thanks! If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on White Bluffs AVA requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2021-06-17/pdf/2021-12769.pdf and web.archive.org/web/20230417195337if_/https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2021-06-17/pdf/2021-12769.pdf. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Take note of the 'PD-Notice' since all info is derived from TTB Federal documents which is in the public domain. A few editors have missed that tidbit. The two quotes in the article were properly noted, credited and documented. I welcome any other questions. Fb2002 (talk) 21:20, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox

[edit]

Please note that sandbox pages, such as your User:Bf2002/sandbox, are not allowed to be filed in mainspace categories alongside real finished articles. Categories must stay off the page while it's in sandbox, and may be added only if and when you're moving the text over into a real article in mainspace. So since I've already had to remove the page from categories three times in the past two weeks alone, just a reminder that it cannot have categories added to it so long as it's still in userspace. Bearcat (talk) 14:32, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I used the sandbox to build the article PRIOR to moving it. I will clean it up. What are the 'violations' regarding the White Bluffs AVA article 'warranting deletion?' All the info and text is public domain according to the Federal govt. Fb2002 (talk) 20:46, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Who said anything about deletion? I said the page can't be in categories while it's in sandbox. Bearcat (talk) 22:10, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You mean "can't be in categories" as any references of actual articles? Explain. Fb2002 (talk) 22:45, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What the hell does "as any references of actual articles" even mean? It's really quite simple: a page that is in userspace cannot be filed in categories, which means it cannot have categories on it. That really shouldn't be difficult to understand. Bearcat (talk) 13:14, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The primary source of the article is the federal agency document responsible with recognizing American Viticultural Areas. Secondary info is from interested wine groups, periodicals and regional press highlighting the international recognition of their region. You can review other articles of AVAs as reference of how they are variously constructed as some are extensive while others are brief. Your specific suggestions are welcome. Fb2002 (talk) 19:36, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How many more secondary sources are required? Most of the interest are from local publications after the Federal Register as the primary. I have seen other AVA articles with the same number of sources as White Bluffs or less. Just let me know what would make the White Bluffs article acceptable. SLO

[edit]

It looks like you have been actively and abusively adding the "SLO" abbreviation to many wine-related pages. There is no justification for this, and it sounds like you might be linked to the county's tourism marketing. Wikipedia does not exist to amplify marketing campaigns. Those abbreviations will be deleted. Chalandray (talk) 22:12, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Look at the references. The Federal agency TTB, Treasury accepted the "SLO" term in their official documents and the name of the American Viticultural Area. There is no 'abuse' of Wiki rules.Fb2002 (talk) Fb2002 (talk) 22:28, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My bad, just noticed this only applies to two AVAs where SLO is also accepted by the TTB. Apologies.

No problem. As a CA native and a Cal Poly alumni, the historical "SLO" moniker is more a cultural meme than a marketing one.Fb2002 (talk)

I have reverted your addition of an unsourced date of birth and an unsourced birth name to Nikki Cox. In addition to Wikipedia's basic principle of citing sources (Wikipedia:Citing sources), a special need for citations applies with regard to elements of a biography of a living person (WP:BLPPRIVACY). Feel free to add a date of birth and a birth name when they are accompanied by a citation to a reliable, published, non-primary source. Eddie Blick (talk) 21:03, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on American Viticultural Areas of Tennessee requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Sorry, I was exploring on creating a page. I have no problem with the speedy deletion if I innocently violated a Wiki rule. Fb2002 (talk) 03:35, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not a significant issue, but in the future you are probably better off using WP:AFC to create a draft which will usually give you 6 months timed from your last edit to work on a page to bring it up to article standards before it is deleted. When so doing you will want to wrap any categories in Template:Draft categories, but even if you forget someone will likely drop by to tidy things up for you. Once you feel the page is ready you can then submit it so an experienced reviewer looks it over; even if it is declined it will still not be immediately deleted, instead the reviewer will explain why it is not yet ready and you can continue working on it to address any issues before resubmitting it. 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:F8F0:1C38:C812:9D7E (talk) 05:15, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
