Hey, Herald, could you possibly make the decision on whether Wikipedia:Featured_picture_candidates/Pembroke_College should be promoted? It's very clear-cut, I realise, but someone who hasn't voted needs to edit it and add Promoted or Not promoted to it before it can be closed.
Don't worry about the rest of the closing process. Just add an appropriate decision as a note at the bottom. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 02:12, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
- Looks like its done. Thanks..The herald 07:52, 25 October 2014 (UTC)

Regarding this - it was not a good faith edit, it was pure vandalism, using a homophobic insult. However thanks for reverting so quickly! GiantSnowman 13:28, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

Junshi
Can you explain why you reverted the edit made in the "Junshi" article? I believe this edit helped the article, as vassal is not a common term. Warsilver (talk • contribs) 13:56, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
- @Warsilver: Though you had done that, but I fear about overlinking in the lead section of the stub. Though its my lame argument, you may devote your time in improving the article (if interested). Further more, you may revert the edit, but methink you can improve the article. --The herald 13:03, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Hi, I've made some revisions and resubmitted the article "The Program for Research In Mathematics, Engineering and Science (PRIMES)". In your last communication with me, you said to notify you when we had resubmitted and you'd look at it again. I've added additional text and references. Thanks, Dodecahedronic (talk) 15:46, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
Please revisit "The Program for Research In Mathematics, Engineering and Science (PRIMES)"
Hi, (not sure if the earlier post I made went through, so apologies if this is a duplicate). In your rejection of my article "The Program for Research In Mathematics, Engineering and Science (PRIMES)" you said to contact you to re-examine it once it was edited. I've provided some additional sources and some additional text to the article, and it has been resubmitted. Thanks for your feedback. Dodecahedronic (talk) 15:59, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

Nigel Akkara
I am a new wiki user. I had submitted an AFC: Nigel Akkara on @25th August 2014. However you have replied that it cannot be accepted as yet due to lack of reliable sources. Would you please explain and help me as to how I may overcome this problem ? Passthebuck (talk) 09:27, 3 November 2014 (UTC) Passthebuck
- Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Myself, Benison and am ready to help you with any needed help. The reason why I have rejected your article submission was due to the lack of suitable and proper citations (references). Here in Wikipedia, we need exact and trusted sources for an article submission to be approved as an article. What you need is an organized layout and proper placement of citations which you have now. This page may also be good for you. Thanks.. --The herald 13:06, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent software changes
- The "Special:Cite" page is now called "Special:CiteThisPage". That way, you know it's to cite the page, not to add a reference. [11]
- You can no longer use the
insource:
keyword for text searches. It caused issues with the new search tool. It will come back later. [12] [13]
Problems
- There was a bug in VisualEditor with Internet Explorer. It hid tools like the link editor when you opened them. The bug was fixed on Monday. [14]
- Issues with the new search tool caused geo data code to show up on pages on Monday and Friday. The mobile "nearby" tool was also broken. The problem is now fixed. [15] [16] [17]
- HHVM caused server issues on Thursday. They are now fixed.
Software changes this week
- The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf5) has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since October 29. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from November 4, and on all Wikipedias from November 5 (calendar).
- Some wikis have icons at the top of a page to show if it is protected or featured. Icons show up using CSS. You can now use the
<indicator>
tag in these templates instead to add the icons. [18] [19] - VisualEditor now tells you if you're editing a re-used reference. This helps you avoid changing it if you just want to add a new one. [20]
- The icons in VisualEditor's template editor tool for adding more fields are back, along with other fixes. [21] [22] [23] [24] [25]
- After November 6, all wikis will have the tool to edit TemplateData. [26] [27] [28]
Future changes
- The new search tool will come to the last wikis in the coming weeks. This includes Wikipedia in French, Chinese, German and English. [29]
