Alexandrine Nicole Lynn Fremont (November 27, 1988), better known by her stage name Alexis Free, is a Canadian actress, singer and songwriter. She began her career with several appearances on television shows and television films, before being cast as Allison Jones in the Nickelodeon television show Teenaged in 2003. After she left the show in 2005, she began a film career, starring in several motion pictures in 2005 and 2006. After recording music for the soundtrack of her 2006 film New Girl in School, and writing songs for various artists, she signed a recording contract with Columbia Records and began recording her debut album.
Free's debut self-titled album was released in 2007, on her nineteenth birthday. The album was well-received by music critics, and went on to sell over three million copies worldwide. While filming her role for the 2008 film Jingle Bell Rock, and also recording music for the soundtrack, Free began work on her second album. The album Eclipse, released in May 2009, marked a new sound for the singer. The album contained a more R&B-inspired sound, rather than the previous pop rock sound of her debut album. The following year, Free released her third album Walk the Walk. The album showcased her return to her pop rock sound, but with a dance influence.
Life and career
[edit]1988–2000: Early life and career beginnings
[edit]Alexandria Nicole Free was born on November 27, 1988, in Kingston, Ontario to Australian actress Teresa Ballard and Canadian film director Andrew Free. Free has an older sister, Natalie Evans and a younger brother Brendon Michael Free. After her parents divorced in 1995, her mother got custody of the three children. After moving place to place supporting her sister's musical dream, there was a second custody battle, which lasted over a year. Her father got custody of Free and her younger brother, but not Natalie because at the time of the battle, she turned eighteen. The family then moved to Toronto, where Free became interested in show business.
2003–06: Teenaged, film debut, and songwriting
[edit]In 2003 Free began dating her The Teenage co-star Andree Stevens. The relationship lasted two years, and the end of their relationship led to the show ending in 2005.
2007–09: Alexis Free, Jingle Bell Rock, and Eclipse
[edit]Free began dating American model Carson Reeves in early 2008, but did not announce their relationship until the summer of that year, after much speculation and rumors about the two dating. There was a lot of media controversy around their relationship about their age difference. Free was 18 at the time they began dating and Reeves was 25. They broke up in June 2009, after Free found out that Reeves had cheated on her with his ex-fiancé Michaela Cook and that she is now pregnant with his child.
2010–present: Walk the Walk
[edit]In January 2010 Free began dating music producer William Braxton.
