Sharran Puthumana
Sharran Puthumana, who is widely called Sharran, is an Indian Actor who works with Malayalam Film and Television Industry.
Early Life
Sharran was born in Palakkkad, on May 10 1976,as the son of well known Playwright and Director Kalidas Puthumana and Shanthini Das. As a child,he was very much interested in music,acting and cricket.During his College days,he has played for the District Cricket Team.He wanted to join Police force and also loved to try his luck at singing ,as he has a good base in Carnatic Music. But quite unexpected,he turned an Actor.
Career Sharran started his acting career in 1991, at the very young age of 15, his first work being a short film "Poornaviramam" directed by his father.This was followed by a serial in Dooradarshan,Thunchathacharyan,in which he essayed the teenage of Thunchath Ezhuthachan.
His active career started in 1995,with the Dooradarshan soap, "Vamsham",first mega serial in Malayalam."Vamsham" written by K.Jayakumar and helmed by his brother Sreekuttan and produced by B Rakesh had a rich line up of cast ranging from Veteran Actor Madhu,siddique,Madhupal etc and Sharran's hero character 'Sharath'gained him immense recognition.He had a vast fan following which saw a Fans' Association being started in his name , a Mini-Screen hero,which was new to that times,especially at a period when there was no online support as of today. "Vamsham" was followed by a series of soaps and characters including Pakalkinavukalude Parvathy (DD Malayalam),Alakal(DD Malayalam),Detective Anand(DD Malayalam),Snehanjali (Asianet) sreeraman Sreedevi (Asianet),Sthree(Asianet),Velutha Kathreena (Kairali),Manavatty(Kairali),Kudumbavilakku(Asianet),Thaali(Surya),Kavyanjali(Surya),Ente Pennu(Mazhavil Manorama),Ottachilambu(Mazhavil Manorama),Pournamithinkal(Asianet) are a few to mention. Personal Life Sharran married Journalist Rani Sarran, daughter of Actor/producer Manjeri Chandran, on 18th January 2004.They have a daughter Gouri upasana(Kanmani).Sharran and family live in Kochi Filmography Films started coming sharran's way even from the time of "Vamsham"but he was forced to decline all offers owing to his commitment to the project.His entry to movies too happened through his father.He debuted in "Pravasam"(2004),directed by his father kalidas Puthumana.This was followed by different characters in different movies.He worked with ace Directors Jayaraj,Anjali Menon,PT Kunjumuhammed and Sreebala k Menon. Sharran started his stint as a voice artist in 2004.He has rendered voice to a varied range of actors icluding Ramcharan,Jr.NTR,Mahesh Babu,Ravi Theja,vijay Sethupathi,Madhavan,Vijay(Kathi),Ajith(Billa),Surya(Kappan),karthi,shahrukh khan(Dilse),Vivek Oberoi(company),all in the Malayalam Dubbed Version of Original Movies.He is the personal favourite of Actor Bala as his screen voice.He has rendered voice for Aarya in My Great Father,J D chakravarthy in Mikhael.Unni Mukundan (Bankok Summer,Orissa),Tovino Thomas (ABCD),Vinay Fort (Apoorva Ragam),Sijoy Varghese(Bangalore Days,Aadi,Jamnapyari) and many new heroes.He has been fortunate to render voice for Sunil Shetty and Ashok Selvan in the Priyadarshan's Markkar Arabikadalinte Simham.He won Kerala State Award for Best Dubbing Artist in 2014 for the Movie White Boys.45th Kerala State Film Awards Drama Sharran was fortunate enough to be part of Chayamukhi, a play directed by Prashanth Narayanan,featuring Mohanlal and Mukesh.He reprised the role of Jeemoothan, which won him words of Appreciation.
