"Bansanka" (ばんさんか) is the debut single by Japanese singer-songwriter tuki.. It was released on multiple music streaming services as a digital single on September 29, 2023.
Background
[edit]tuki. began posting cover songs and her own original songs on TikTok while in middle school[1]. Bansanka was first uploaded onto TikTok on July 7, 2023 and a video of an acoustic version of the song was uploaded to YouTube on September 13, 2023[2].
The cover art was created by the illustrator wataboku[3].
On November 6, 2023, tuki. released a recording of her performing the song with singer-songwriter Yuuri on YouTube[4].
In an interview, tuki. revealed that the inspiration for the song came after her father mentioned "There are about 30,000 days in a lifetime". Reflecting on that, she thought "I've already lived 5,000 days and only have about 25,000 more"[5].

10th in Billboard Japan's Streaming Song Chart "Streaming Songs" on November 15, 2023[7], 4th on December 13, 2023[8].
60th in LINE MUSIC's Monthly Teens Ranking in September 2023[9], 3rd in October 2023[10].
1st in Billboard Japan Hot 100 on January 1, 2024[11]. tuki. also became the youngest solo artist to surpass a 100 million streams in that chart[12].
In April 2024, the total streams of the song exceeded 200 million[13].

[edit]The music video for the song was released on December 24, 2023. Illustrations were drawn by manga artist Posuka Demizu.
