Luke G-Jones (15th January 1975) is a British film producer and financier based in Los Angeles, California. His film credits include Fakers, Surviving Evil and Jeff Lowe’s Metanoia. His company, Cool Hand International, is based in Los Angeles and with his partner, Simon Kelton, they specialize in producing globally appealing feature films for both domestic and international audiences with Studio level quality but an independent price tag.
Early Life
[edit]Luke was born and raised in London, UK, the son of actress Gemma Jones and Sebastian Graham-Jones. His uncle, Nicholas Jones, is a British actor and his Grandfather, Griffith Jones was a well known and prolific film, tv and theater actor.
Career
[edit]After starting as a runner for Working Title Films in the early 1990’s during which time they produced Four Weddings and a Funeral, French Kiss, Dead Man Walking and Fargo. After working on set as an assistant director on various films including Emma and Nil By Mouth and Merchant Ivory’s Cotton Marty, he then went to work for Sarah Radclyffe Productions and became an assistant editor on Cousin Bette. This led to various feature film credits in the editing rooms including Dancing at Lughnasa, New World Disorder and Bean; The Ultimate Disaster Movie. In the late 1990’s Luke started working with film financing companies such as Wave Pictures and Future Film Group during which time he arranged financing for a number of well known British films including Gypsy Woman and host of other UK and International co-productions. During this time he was a frequent speaker on financing and international co-production panels in Europe and North America.
In 2006 Luke moved to Los Angeles to work as the head of finance and co-productions for an international sales and distribution company, New Films International and then, in 2008 Luke and his business partner and screenwriter, Simon Kelton set up Cool Hand International and have since been producing a number of feature films and developing a slate of projects. Most notably, Eddie the Eagle which was written by Simon Kelton had it’s international release by Twentieth Century Fox alongside Lionsgate Films in the UK. The film received positive reviews and has generated significant box office returns around the world. At the same time, Luke and Simon’s film Metanoia continues to win awards and garner critical success at many film festivals around the world. Their latest film, Ring of Bright Water, is in active development with their producing partner on the film David Parfitt who was awarded the best picture Oscar for Shakespeare in Love.
