The First Russo-Abel War was a military conflict between Abel and the United Kingdom against Russia.
Background
[edit]Russia had many fishermen and companies fishing in the Barents Sea att the time. All of these companies where owned by the Barents Sea fishing commission. In 1898, the parliament of Abel had allowed Abel fishermen to fish in the Barents sea. The Barents Sea fishing commission would complain to the Russian government about this and ask for military intervention to scare off all of the Abel fishermen. The Russian government would agree to send two torpedo boats. Abel would respond with sending their own torpedo boat.
Course of the war
[edit]On 4 April 1898, one of the Russian torpedo boats would confront the Abel torpedo boat. The Russian torpedo boat would fire on the Abel torpedo boat. The Abel torpedo boat would retreat since it was their only one. After this battle, the parliament of Abel would declare war on Russia on 5 April.
King of Abel Uæi, would seek help from Sweden-Norway and Britain, only Britain would send a torpedo boat to protect the Abel fishermen since Abel would let British fishermen in return where allowed to fish around Abel and in the Barents Sea. The British would also send a garrison of 500 troops to Abel island.
The two Russian torpedo boats would meet the British and Abel torpedo boat in what was known as the battle of the Barents Sea on 7 June 1898. One Russian torpedo boat was sunk and the British and Abel torpedo boats where damaged while the second Russian torpedo boat retreated.
Afthermath
[edit]On 12 June 1898, Abel, Britain and Russia signed a peace deal allowing fishermen from all three countries to fish in the Barents Sea. Uæi wanted the Barents Sea fishing commission disbanded but the British did not want it to be disbanded since they had been buying fish from them for a while and wanted to keep normal relations with Russia.
