According to the US Copyright Office, the project was previously in development in 2022 at Searchlight Pictures.[5] Theo James was cast in the lead role.[2] In March 2024, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Christian Convery, Colin O'Brien, Rohan Campbell and Sarah Levy were revealed to have joined the cast.[6]
