Alphabetically would this get filed under T or U? Many people know it simply as Urewera National Park. Grutness 08:57, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Infobox image

[edit]
possible replacement image

Do you think this might be a better image for the infobox? It shows the extent of the park rather than just being a dot on a map which is quite nice. Ballofstring (talk) 05:10, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps it would be nicer if you used File:New_Zealand_relief_map.jpg as the base map. --Dick Bos (talk) 09:00, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Name Section Source?

[edit]

The link appears dead, and checking the last valid version of it on the WayBack machine (https://web.archive.org/web/20160520112841/https://www.thousandwonders.net/Te Urewera#history) doesn't turn up anything related to the name relating to "Burnt Penis", or any references to any kind of corresponding legend in that area. I have replaced the citation with a different source. Content in this section could be usefully expanded, particularly if other more authoritative sources can be found.Marshelec (talk) 07:39, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a ref to the Toitū Te Whenua official gazetteer. It also points at Reed and Dowling's Place names of New Zealand for those who prefer a book source. IdiotSavant (talk) 09:10, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Surely not? Why the fuck would anyone want to name it that and why would land information okay it? You couldn't do that in any other language here. Rhodesian101 (talk) 10:12, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Te Urewera boundaries

[edit]

According to Te Kawa o Te Urewera, the area governed by Te Urewera Board has the same boundaries as the former national park (so the areas of private Tūhoe land shown on the map page are not part of the Te Urewere protected area). --Prosperosity (talk) 23:04, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
