Misquote
[edit]The "Scratch the Victorian veneer" line is misquoted and misattributed. The line is "Scratch the Victorian veneer, and something nasty'll come crawling out", and is spoken by Ace, not the Doctor. --62.254.0.32 23:59, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
Succession box
[edit]If this is supposed to be a general biography of Sylvester McCoy, why does it have that "preceded by.... succeeded by" box at the end? Did those guys take over his role in 'Tiswas'?
Seriously, if you want to maintain any pretence that this is more than a 'Doctor Who'-centric article, you should clear that up. If not, you should change the title to reflect the specific subject matter.

- I don't agree. If you look at the Edward Heath article, it shows a similar succession box at the bottom of the biography for all the high offices he has held. In Sylvester's case, whilst he has had a long and varied career, he hasn't to my knowledge played any other roles which have a succession box. If the situation changes, they would be added to the article in the same place. DavidFarmbrough 13:19 (BST) 12 September 2005
- I'm not sure that this is quite the same case. Anyway, I have no problem with the article emphasising his Doctor Who work if that's what he's most famous for, nor with the inclusion of the box. The only qualm I have is the lack of explanation surrounding such boxes (for *all* actors who've played the Doctor- note that some have done quite a lot of work before and since); if they had an inconspicuous title a la 'Doctor Who lineage' (I'm sure you or someone else can think of something better), it would be fine. Fourohfour 13:12, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean by "lack of explanation". All the articles mention their Doctor Who work prominently. --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 13:55, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
- The succession box does need clarifying - Baker and McGann didn't preceed and succeed McCoy as the 'Seventh Doctor', after all. It *is* misleading written in that way. Angmering 15:25, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
- I changed that from simply "The Doctor" because that doesn't take advantage of the fact that we have individual Doctor articles. Or should it read "The Doctor" and then "Seventh Doctor" on the next line? --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 15:47, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
- Probably in brackets after the "The Doctor", I would have thought. Something along those lines, anyway. Angmering 15:59, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
Partnership with David Rappaport
[edit]McCoy also appeared in the BBC Children's programme JIGSAW as one of the double-O men. This duo would appear whenever one of the hosts said six words containing a 'oo' in the middle. The other double-O man was David Rappaport. Both men would later work together again on TISWAS. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.9.79.178 (talk • contribs) 00:15, February 13, 2006 (UTC)
References
[edit]While tidying up the references and moving them to cite.php format, I replaced a link to McCoy's IMDb bio, because IMDb isn't generally considered a reliable source for biographic information. (They're good for credits, but their biographies and trivia sections can be iffy at times.) Unfortunately, the only source I could find online for McCoy's youth in Dublin isn't much better. If anyone has a print source that mentions this (perhaps the Seventh Doctor Handbook, or a DWM interview?), please replace the "Sci Fi Cruises" website with a better reference. Thanks. —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 06:53, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Scottish
[edit]"He's a scottish actor" is said in the opening. "Irish mother, english father, raised in Dublin" is said slightly later on. How is he scottish? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robin.lemstra (talk • contribs) 13:43, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Colourblind
[edit]Is he really colourblind? In SpaceCadets http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Cadets_(game_show) he says he is when talking about the incredible hulk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxWOUZHMC8I&feature=related Or was this just a joke? Centerone (talk) 09:18, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

McCoys Doctor who killed off Doctor who for 16 years!
[edit]McCoys Doctor was so bad that Grade cancelled the show, 'permanently' in 1989. It came back in 2005 with a sooo much better portrayal by Eccleston. Smith took it back to its silly ways. Capaldi will hopefully take it away from being a kids show. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.168.29.40 (talk) 22:30, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
Little Shop of Horrors
[edit]I can confirm that McCoy played Mushnik in Little Shop and I have a programme from the performance saying so. Anyone able to tell me how I can cite it? CaptainPedge | Talk | Guestbook 23:21, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page
[edit]Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Nicest and most chill actor I've ever met
[edit]This guy was the most humble person I'd ever met, much less most humble actor. He didn't ask for anything, didn't ask anyone not to take pictures, chatted with me, great guy. I didn't make it into a line with another actor who was more popular, and his table was empty. I'll forever appreciate the short moment he took to chat.
The Caucasian Chalk Circle.
[edit]I saw McCoy in a Young Vic production of [Caucasian Chalk Circle], many years ago.
In the mid 80s, from what I recall.
Is there any chance someone could dig up a reference To that, and add it to this article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cuddy2977 (talk • contribs) 17:23, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
Azdak
[edit]I saw a version of The Caucasian Chalk Circle, many years ago: at the Young Vic … I think!
It stuck in my mind, as Sylvester McCoy played Azdak.
Can someone find a reference to this version and include it, somehow? I’m having no luck!

Jackanory
[edit]The article says McCoy read a version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Jackanory.
But, according to [[1]] article, the story was read by Elaine Stritch.
Is it possible to get that cleaned up?
