Discussion
[edit]I thought the Q magazine article had her as saying "...I don't NOT want to." I can't believe there's no comments here. Judging by download activity, this is one of the year's best albums, and definitely one for the history books!--Tednor 11:51, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
- You're right, it was "...don't not want to." I've corrected the article. --Gypsum Fantastic 15:14, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
Moloko's future
[edit]I guess the info about Moloko's future should be placed in the article about the band.
- I don't think so. Since it's a colaborative effort between her and Brydon, it depends both on the band's page and in her biography - after all, she spent something like 10 years with that band and it's an integral part of her life. Unless you ment that theinfo should be placed in *both* places. --Kkania 18:40, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Isn't Murphy signed under EMI now instead of under Echo? Nannick 23:18, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- That won't count until she actually releases something on the label, I should think (and hello my darling Nannick!)--Tednor 20:18, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Whoever keeps changing the the wording of the "announced informally to her fan base" part, please tell me why you are changing this (seems bloody stupid to me) and please STOP. As someone who knows about the subject at hand I assure you the distinction is important (and since when did Wiki strive to be NON specific anyway?). Roisin did NOT announce it on the intro pages to her website, nor did she hold a press conference. Not everyone knows she posts in own forums, and we should respect the "off the cuff" nature of the statement by specifically noting its context. Also, the "redundant" statement about 'Sequins' being issued in series was added only becuase somebody needed a citation to see that the two words are puns (never ceases to amaze me the things people need citations for, like for instance we have NO source for her birthdate and could easily be libellous for misreporting her AGE....).--4.158.198.164 01:25, 10 January 2007 (UTC) :That was me, forgot to sign in. --Tednor 01:28, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- I've reworded it to say "announced on her forum". "Announced informally to her fan base" sounds awkward and forced. ShadowHalo 10:55, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Correct pronunciation
[edit]What is the correct pronunciation of her first name? Is it more like Roe-sheen or more like Roy-sheen? Thanks in advance. --Amir E. Aharoni 13:10, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Roe-sheen (see here). ShadowHalo 00:15, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Shouldn't it use the IPA pronunciation guide? I'd do it, but I'm not really proficient with it: something like ɹoʊˈʃiːn? LaFoiblesse 2007-06-01 10:02 (GMT)
- That looks about right. I was going to add it in, but I couldn't figure out how to do the oʊ dipthong. ShadowHalo 06:03, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

No mention of songs
[edit]What about songs "Modern Timing" and "Off and On". They aren't mentioned in the text.
Irish? or irish-british?
[edit]ok, roisin moved to england (manchester) when she was 12 and she formed moloko in england (not in ireland) and as far as i am aware, she has lived in england since 1985/for 23 years and spent all her adult life based in england and she does not live in ireland as an adult....so is she really irish because i think we should say irish and british because she has spent much more time and her whole adult life in england and not ireland
saying she is irish full stop makes it seem like she grew up there and made music there and is still based there, which she never did/or is, all the music stuff happened in england when she had already been living in england for 10 years when moloko formed in 1995, i say that her time in england had a bigger impact on her life than anything that happened up to the age of 12 in ireland...so i think the british/english part should be aknoledged as well...she isnt enya in terms of irish-ness.......
i havent heard roisin herself refer to herself as irish either, not that i have heard her refer to herself as british though
- Irish-British? LOL, err no :). Blaggards22 (talk) 17:24, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Irish Mail on Sunday Interview 19th July 2009 she said (and I quote): "Although I left Ireland when I was twelve, I am totally Irish and my home is Ireland - I have a house in Wicklow.' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.46.197.30 (talk) 13:46, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Paige
[edit]it says
not wanting other people to know she sounded like Paige when she enjoyed ...
who is Paige and why are they mentioned as if we all know what this means?

Label
[edit]According to an interview here, Róisín is no longer signed to EMI and won't be releasing her next album with them. In fact, in the interview she says she isn't sure if she's sure about release another album yet. (Personal aside: oh.no.). Unfortunately I can't find a transcript of the interview anywhere. Maybe someone else has more luck? James Who (talk) 06:45, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Is religion relevant
[edit]"Murphy was brought up in Arklow, County Wicklow, Ireland, in a Roman Catholic family" , two things . 1) is her religion relevant to the article ? and 2) Is the a cited source for her or in this case , her family's religion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.77.125.63 (talk) 17:02, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
What Richard Did does not star Murphy
[edit]Róisín Murphy will NOT appear in the upcoming movie "What Richard Did". This piece of information, which was probably taken from IMDB.com, is incorrect. Here - http://filmireland.net/2011/09/15/cameras-roll-on-lenny-abrahamsons-new-film-what-richard-did/ - you can read that The film stars an ensemble of young Irish actors including [...] Roisin Murphy. "Our" Róisín Murphy is not a young Irish actress in my book. They just happen to share the same name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.65.148.248 (talk) 19:33, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
She is thrilled with her baby
[edit]Is this of interest to the reader? Aren't most parents happy when they have a child? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.34.246.121 (talk) 22:28, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
Is Roisin indeed Nu-Disco?
[edit]She doesn't seem to be. It's too dark, lacks the upbeatness of true disco/nu-disco. She seems more darkwave. Can anyone verify or rebut? ErdoSa (talk) 03:47, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
- on wikipedia Nu-Disco refers to both nu-(R&B/American/pre-Moroder)-Disco and Nu-(Electro/European/post-Moroder)-Disco. I'd say she did both — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.232.157.155 (talk) 18:24, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Personal life section
[edit]DolceFW07, per your recent edits I'd like to hear why exactly you think content about the recent coverage Roisín Murphy has received in the media is somehow not due for inclusion. There's no policy on how much of the "personal life" section something like this should take up, so this at best falls under WP:IDONTLIKEIT. There has been an abundance of coverage of this in the media in the last while, including a large number of perennially reliable sources on WP:RSP, so I'm not sure what reason we would have to exclude it from the article, other than the non-policy based argument of "it takes up too much space in a section". — ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 20:05, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- Agree. This could be done in a way that is not editorializing in any way, but simply mentioning that her opinion on that topic was in the public eye as her new album was being released - so much so that one media platform referenced it in their review of the album. 2603:8001:2A00:7428:113:84C8:78ED:87CB (talk) 19:22, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
