Fair use rationale for Image:Omaralbayoumi.jpg
[edit]Image:Omaralbayoumi.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:36, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Discussion of Recent Edits and Suggestions for Future Editors
[edit]I've just updated the article, working to cite heavily from the 9/11 commission report, which discusses Mr. al-Bayoumi's connections to the 9/11 highjackers in some detail, particularly on pages 217, 218, 219, 434, 515, 516, 517 and 518. There are also some claims that were made without citation that i've cleaned up a bit (a citation was given, but listed as an "external link" rather than a citation, i've corrected this).
Unfortunately, there are still a number of assertions in this that need some further backup and/or citation from other sources. My future edits, and I hope the edits of others will work to more fully cite this article. There is a wealth of publicly available information on Mr. al-Bayoumi, we should make sure that the wiki article reflects this, and not bald assertions. To add to article: 2022 revelations
[edit]To add to this article: these 2022 revelations:
- Newly released FBI documents reveal a California-based Saudi spy assisted some of the 9/11 hijackers in finding housing in San Diego, and that there was a “50/50 chance” he had “advanced knowledge” of the attack. Omar al Bayoumi had claimed he incidentally befriended the two hijackers but was not involved in their planning. The FBI report found Bayoumi regularly shared his intelligence with Saudi Arabia’s U.S. Ambassador Prince Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, who was so close to former President George W. Bush that he earned the nickname “Bandar Bush.” The report was written in 2017 but only declassified last week. Source 173.88.246.138 (talk) 22:36, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
WikiProject Terrorism scope
[edit]I am not sure that this article falls within the scope of Wikipedia:WikiProject Terrorism, and am contemplating removing the banner. However, before I do I would like to canvass the opinions of other editors. Based on this article, the subject of this article is better described as a spy or covert agent. While his connection to two of the September 11 participants appears to be suspicious and including this article in the 9/11 US task-force is appropriate, including the article in the broader WikiProject Terrorism is not, because this individual has not been designated a terrorist, nor personally participated in a terrorist act. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 05:36, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
