GA Review

[edit]

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

This article is in decent shape, but it needs more work before it becomes a Good Article.

  1. Is it well written?
    A. The prose is clear and concise, and the spelling and grammar are correct:
In the Angels Fall First (1997) section, it would be best if the short sentences be combined together in a paragraph, as the short sentences look dull in the article. Same thing goes will all the sections with short sentences. In the Wishmaster (2000) section, "In May 2000", it would be best if there was a comma placed after 2000. Same thing goes in the Over the Hills and Far Away EP (2001) and Century Child (2002–2003) sections. In the Once (2004–2005) section, this sentence ---> "(featured on the soundtrack of the Alone in the Dark film)", how bout ---> "(featured on the soundtrack of the film Alone in the Dark). In the Dark Passion Play (2006–) section, this sentence ---> "1) a single-disc standard version and 2) a 2-CD Special Edition which contains 1 bonus track on the 1st disc and a 2nd CD comprised of orchestral versions of every song on the album and 3) a limited edition 3CD version with the two CDs from version two and a third one with some demo versions (of for example “The Poet and the Pendulum”) as well as some bonus tracks (for example “Bye Bye Beautiful” CD-single’s b-side “The Escapist” and the third single “Erämaan Viimeinen”, a vocal version of “Last of the Wilds", should be formatted, for example using "1), 2), and 3)" makes that sentence very sloppy and should be well-written. Same section, "Kerrang!" is a magazine, needs to be italicize. Note: Any magazines mentioned in the article should be italicized.
    B. It complies with the manual of style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation:
In the lead and any other part of the article, "U.S." needs to be "US", per here. In the Wishmaster (2000) and Once (2004–2005) sections, are the samples "Sleepwalker" and "High Hopes" suppose to be like that? Dates are suppose to be un-linked, per here. Also, the article has "June 7, 2004" and then it has "21 October 2005", it would be best to choose what date format Finland articles use. In the Century Child (2002–2003) section, correctly link "The Phantom of the Opera" to ---> "The Phantom of the Opera (1986 musical)", as it is talking about Andrew Lloyd Webber's version and italicize it, per here. Same section, it would be best if "Bless the Child" and "Tarja Turunen" were linked once, per here. In the Once (2004–2005) section, the article consists of "number one" and "#1", and it would be best to choose one format to go by. In the Dark Passion Play (2006–) section, the link to "Terrorizer" needs to be fixed and also "Terrorizer" needs to be italicized, since its a magazine. Same section, link "Bye Bye Beautiful" and "The Islander" just once. 'Nother note: If any other links are linked twice, please, link them once. In the Influence section, fix the link to "Crimson Tide" and italicize "The Lord of the Rings".
  2. Is it verifiable with no original research, as shown by a source spot-check?
    A. It contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline:
It would be best if the references use the {{cite web}} format. Also, Reference 1, 5, 14, 19, 20, 21, and 22 are missing Publisher info.
    B. Reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose):
In the Nightwish demo (1996) section, is there a source for this ---> "The band featured only keyboards, acoustic guitars, and the classical vocals of Turunen. The three musicians recorded their self-titled acoustic demo in the winter of 1996. The name "Nightwish" was derived from the first song the band recorded together, and the first demo also included early versions of “The Forever Moments” and "Etiäinen"? Are there any sources available for the first three paragraphs and the last paragraph in the Angels Fall First (1997) section? Same thing, is there a source available for the first paragraph in the Oceanborn (1998–1999) section? Does Reference 5 cover all this ---> "In May 1999, Nightwish recorded the single "Sleeping Sun (Four Ballads of the Eclipse)". In one month the single sold 15,000 copies in Germany alone. Following the band’s first international success, Nightwish was added as the opening band for Rage’s 1999 European tour. Both the album Oceanborn and the single "Sacrament of Wilderness" were certified gold in Finland in August 1999"? In the Wishmaster (2000) section, are there any sources available for the last two paragraphs? The entire of Once (2004–2005) is missing sources.
    C. It contains no original research:
Some of the information in the third section appears to be OR.
    D. It contains no copyright violations nor plagiarism:
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. It addresses the main aspects of the topic:
    B. It stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style):
  4. Is it neutral?
It represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each:
  5. Is it stable?
It does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute:
  6. Is it illustrated, if possible, by images?
    A. Images are tagged with their copyright status, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content:
The license in Image:Nightwish-sacramentofwilderness.ogg should be {{Non-free audio sample}}.
    B. Images are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions:
It would be best if image Nightwish.jpg is placed on the right, per here.
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
This article is in need of a lot of sourcing, especially a lot of sections that do not contain any sources whatsoever. But, if the statements above can be answered, I will pass the article. Good luck with improving this article!

I've decided to fail the article, since its a week since the GA review. If the statements above can be addressed, then the article may be renominated for GA. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 18:59, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I will get around it when I have time. And renominate it. --Nazzzz (talk) 10:17, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
