Song lyrics in "see also" ? Surely this should be elsewhere? User:SatuSuro 08:26, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

This article could still use a better image of a large mausoleum. I've also updated the Lincoln Tomb link to point directly at the tomb article. Rklawton 00:00, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

OK, I'll bite. What's the rationale behind merging Mausoleum with Tomb? Rklawton 02:01, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Famous

[edit]

No doubt that the Taj Mahal is the most photographed, by famous, I would of thought that the Tomb of Mausollos that Mausoleums are named after would be the most famous. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.137.207.191 (talk) 01:37, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Encyclopedic nature of Pa. incident

[edit]

Does the disinterment of relatives by an apparently deranged woman in Pennsylvania truly constitute an encyclopedic event? Also, where is the reference showing this occuring? 75.201.28.124 (talk) 03:24, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pyramids

[edit]

Why do some pyramids count as mausoleums, but not others? Is the Great Pyramid of Giza a mausoleum? And if so, surely this is the most famous in the world? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.246.132.178 (talk) 07:54, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation

[edit]

I struggle over the pronunciation of "mausoleum" and I know it's word people don't speak often so a phonetic pronunciation would be suitable.

Pictures

[edit]

Too many pictures at the beginning? Seems a bit overkill Gonzoramone (talk) 00:13, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Scope and duplication between articles

[edit]

This article and the Tomb article seem have very little differentiation. (This was also brought up a long time ago at Talk:Tomb.) Aside from the fact that the English words themselves have significant overlap in meaning, the articles themselves are short and don't really make an attempt to set clear scopes in relation to each other. Both of them contain lists of "notable" examples that list some of the same monuments (like Taj Mahal and Mausoleum at Halicarnassus). This article (Mausoleum) seems to have a much higher number of visitors for some reason, so the best solution might be to merge Tomb here and make this into an overview article that covers funerary structures in general. Some other similarly poorly-sourced articles (like Chamber tomb, Türbe, etc) might also not serve much purpose as separate articles. R Prazeres (talk) 16:52, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
