Wineries?

[edit]

Is the external link to Long Island Wineries really encyclopedic and apropos for Long Island Sound? If anything, I would think it would fit better in Long Island. --RoySmith 19:06, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Incorrect information

[edit]

Hey I'm not sure exactly how this works, so I'm not sure if it's wikipedia or someone else correcting me. Here's the thing, I'm an expert on this and you dont even need to be to know, that some of the information on this page NOT correct at all. Just look on absolutely any website on the sound and youll find that non of the water temp, currents or depth info is even close to true. I don't know who's doing this, but please stop, just let me make the correction, look it up if you have to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.159.174.211 (talk) 20:29, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bridges

[edit]

I'd like to see a citation for the Orient-Rhode Island bridge, considering this would possibly be the longest bridge in the world, at over 23 miles, not to mention that the North Fork does not have nearly the infrastructure to justify an engineering project of this magnitude. Solenoid 02:36, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't this the citation? I found it in the article.Noroton (talk) 05:10, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Geologic age

[edit]

I also noticed that the article states '3' years ago when discussing the geology of this area. Surely this should be 3 billion at least? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Annagoddess (talkcontribs) 12:37, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I agree. --71.255.69.2 (talk) 20:33, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

On this map I found the name "..sundet". What does it mean, a small sound? Should it be mentioned in the article? --Slartibartfass (talk) 15:40, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Considering that it's in German, it obviously means "Sound," as in the Long Island Sound. This might be good for German versions of related articles. ----DanTD (talk) 04:01, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
