Suggest a distinct article on Old Kilcullen
[edit]Probably time for a real article, so much about the old place, and especially after the Interpretative Site opened. 83.250.107.254 (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 16:48, 27 September 2008 (UTC).
- If done, don't forget to mention the grand old pub there, Brennan's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.22.91.6 (talk) 01:51, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- Someone has done this, though I don't know about the pub!
If someone does assemble the Castlemartin article
[edit]Worth noting that the gardens were guided by the fanous Lanning Roper: CASTLEMARTIN, Kilcullen: Garden design and planting advice, 1977-82. 83.250.109.38 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 18:51, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- This also appears done - article and requested mention.
Article for RC parish?
[edit]The Parish of Kilcullen and Gormanstown is a Roman Catholic parish in the Archdiocese of Dublin, with two churches.
- No, this seems not done yet, but all the makin's below should ease the way...
Churches
[edit]The Parish Church is the Church of the Sacred Heart & St. Brigid, Kilcullen, whose foundation stone was laid by Cardinal Cullen on the 9th August 1869. Built in the Pugin style, the architect was J. McCarthy, R.H.A., of Dublin. Cardinal Cullen dedicated and opened the Church on 6th September 1872.
Adjacent to Kilcullen Church is a Parish Pastoral Centre, with offices and community facilities.
The Chapel of Ease is the Church of St. Joseph at Gormanstown, around five km from Kilcullen in the direction of Dunlavin; Gormanstown has had a dependent church to Kilcullen for centuries.
The parish's land area also contains the restored and reconsecrated St. Mary's Church, Castlemartin, on private lands and not in regular service, and the ruins of a number of churches, some of which were never deconsecrated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.250.107.254 (talk) 22:31, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Schools
[edit]The parish's primary schools are Scoil Bhride, Brannockstown (N.S.) and Halverstown, and there is a secondary school, formerly attached to a convent, the Cross & Passion College.
Governance
[edit]The parish is led by a Parish Priest, and there are both Parish Pastoral Council and Parish Finance Committee. There are also a range of other voluntary groups.
Speaking of articles
[edit]Could one suggest articles on the Camphill Community/ies, and on at least some of the near areas, such as Brannockstown (and St Sylvester's Church) and Harristown (perhaps as with Castlemartin, locale estate bridges even church and graveyard and LaTouche Tomb all together).
Question?
[edit]Does anyone sign their names on this page?! Sarah777 (talk) 23:30, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- Where's Sinebot when you need him/her?? But I will look into the suggestions; someone has a near-article on the RC Parish already up there. Good to see the work / photos / roads rolling on. SeoR (talk) 20:50, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
