the last line, "chamberlin has contacted corgan to accept"... although this is general knowledge (chamberlin is a good friend of corgan, and would accept if offer was made)... there is no reference indicating the veracity of the argument

I don't know when you wrote that, but there are many links which now prove this as true. http://www.nme.com/news/112831.htm I.Mills 16:27, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the line: "He played on their last two albums, Machina and Machina II (which never came out on CD and was released for free on the internet.)" could benefit from clarification. "the latter of which" could be added after the first parens.

also, while Rob Dickinson did perform some vocals on the record, it seems inaccurate to say that he was "band personnel". if the logic in the current article were followed, bill corgan would also be band personnel, as he performed some vocals as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.241.217.15 (talkcontribs)

In the liner notes for the Complex's album, Jimmy Chamberlin, Billy Mohler, Sean Woolstenhulme and Adam Benjamin are all grouped together. Grouped separately are all the other names. This leads me to believe that the first four are considered to be the band "members" while the others are "featured musicians". Twineball 06:03, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lead

[edit]

Deleted: "Fusing Jazz and Rock sensibilities, Chamberlin is widely considered to be a world-class drummer due to his ability to combine complex technical virtuosity with high emotional communication." If that's a widely held belief (WP:WEASEL), someone should find a cite for it.

Associated Acts

[edit]

No Last Hard Men or even Zwan in associated acts? Twineball 23:21, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Massive" drumkit?

[edit]

The article states that Chamberlin is known for his "massive" kits. It's hardly massive. It's actually pretty standard for modern rock drummers. For massive, see Neil Peart, Terry Bozzio or Mike Portnoy. Twineball 18:33, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Check out Jimmy's canary yellow kit seen here: http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/Jimmy_Chamberlin.html He has three rack toms (one of which is huge), two or three floor toms, and several small toms or rototoms off to the left. He has always had pretty large kits, and it is only recently that he has gone to a more scaled down kit (which is still fairly large). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.190.92.84 (talk) 04:32, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Riveted Swiss Knocker??

[edit]

What is a riveted Swiss Knocker? It sounds like silly vandalism, and no google hits, nothing. 210.138.109.72 06:17, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hah, it does sound like vandalism, but it is indeed part of his kit and mentioned in that interview. I'm no drummer and cant give any better description. -Werideatdusk33 01:49, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is a mis-quote of > Swish < - drevpile 18:44 16 November 2007 (UTC)

It may also be of note that Chamberlin used to play Sabian Cymbals. From Machina onward he switched to Zildjin. I will try to find a source for this. drevpile 18:45 18 November 2007 (UTC)

A zildjian swish knocker is a kind of china cymbal. I believe rivets are standard on them. Search for "swish knocker" and you will see one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.190.92.84 (talk) 04:28, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Revival of Smashing Pumpkins

[edit]

"However in a March 18, 2010 article in Rolling Stone magazine, Billy Corgan claimed to have fired Jimmy for having a "destructive personality". Jimmy replied, "it's a few gold records and a bunch of money, who cares?""

Firstly, this is un-cited. Secondly - it doesn't really portray a clear picture of the contrasting argument that Chamberlin put forward in the article. The article clearly states that Chamberlin disagrees with Corgan's account of his supposed 'firing'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.100.186.96 (talk) 18:47, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Future Complex Plans

[edit]

I'll leave the editing to the proffesioals i think: Can someone add this please information please: I found this in an old interview about Jimmy Chamberlin's future plans: from here http://www.staticmultimedia.com/content/music/features/feature_1107322867

Chamberlin: "...We didn't just sign a one-record deal. We signed a multiple record deal...The next record, I think we'll take it even further. We'll get even more into the psychedelic creepy stuff. Get a little more towards Radiohead meets Duke Ellington. That's really what I hear in my head. A thousand harps and multiple drum kits. Just big..." drevpile 16:23 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Update 05 November 09

Could someone add something about his new as yet untitled project with Mike Reina (of the band 'Phaser' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phaser_(band)) (www.myspace.com/phaser) and the 'Jackfields'. Currently they have around 12-15 songs with plans to record in January and releasing something in March 2010. He was talking on a radio interview radio on WPGU 107.1 - 'True Alternative' on Friday 30 October 09 between 12:00 Noon - 1:00 PM. Links:

Thanks.

GA Review

[edit]

Overall, this is a pretty decent article. There's a few things here and there that I found that should ideally be worked on, but nothing too major: The only overarching problem with the article is that much of the prose doesn't flow very well. I know that's vague, so I'll try and explain. Many of the sentences are overly simplistic and matter-of-fact, which means much of the article reads very mechanically. A few examples:

  • "During this time, Chamberlin went back into rehab."
  • "Chamberlin was able to overcome his heroin addiction."
  • "Chamberlin then formed the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex."
  • "He has also been compared to jazz drummer Dennis Chambers."
  • "These cymbals are all made by Zildjian."

The above examples would make good phrases or clauses, but as complete sentences they just don't flow very well. I know that's a vague criticism, but hopefully you see my point.

  • "After a drug escapade" in the lead is unencyclopedic.
  • The mention of Corgan's full-page ad should have a citation.
  • The Modern Drummer quotation is a bit over wikilinked. Mainly the uneccessary links for SP and JCC.
  • "Chamberlin has a somewhat old-fashioned recording sentiment" is an iffy statement to make: it's worded like an opinion posed as fact.

And that's it! Pretty minor stuff really. I've put the article's GA nomination on hold, which means you've got 7-10 days to take care of things. Feel free to drop me a line on my talk page when you feel everything is taken care of. Also let me know if you have any questions or concerns with the review in general. Good luck! Thanks for the review! I'll try to get this all done as quickly as possible. --Brandt Luke Zorn (talk) 09:44, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have some comments from a interview in Drummer magazine (may 2006) that relate to the break-up of Zwan and the formation of the Complex that i think would expand the Post-Pumpkins rather nicely - i'll add these as soon as i'm able - drevpile 18:27 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Great job! Everything looks great, definately a "Good Article." I've passed the article and added it to the list. Very well done! Drewcifer (talk) 09:02, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Childhood Picture

[edit]

I have a childhood picture of Jimmy from when he played little league in Joliet on the Leach Oil team if anybody wants it. I’m not into editing Wikipedia anymore, and somebody would probably revert the edit anyway as original research. Gregory Y (talk) 19:12, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
