Possible alpha decay of 151,152,168Yb
[edit]According to [1], 168Yb should have an alpha decay half-life at the order of 1024 years. Alpha decay could be non-ignorable compared to double beta: Assuming that logT2β = A logQ2β B and using the trend shown in [2], its double beta decay half-life should be at the order of 1023 years.
According to [3], 151Yb (N = 81) and 152Yb (N = 82) should respectively have a partial alpha decay half-life of at least 1014 years and 109 years.
When can we add them to the table?
[edit]These neutron-rich nuclei, 186Yb and 187Yb and relevant sources for them ([4], [5]) ... However by this time, these sources and the discovery are still too recent so I'm afraid of immediately adding new entries to the data table of Tm, Yb and Lu isotopes by myself. 2402:800:63AD:F40F:2D30:F831:4BD7:6FBA (talk) 12:40, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
- Recent publication is not an issue so long as the article has been peer-reviewed and published in a (reputable) journal – and the linked article in Physical Review Letters certainly has been. We're good to add them to their respective articles. Complex/Rational 16:49, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
