[edit]Based on comments above, and my limited interpretation, Polycsaccharide and Glycans seem sufficiently different concepts to each deserve their own article. Therefore I have deleted the suggestion that the articles be merged. Chimpex 00:25, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Propose adding new secion
[edit]Hi, I'd like to add a new section to the end of the article:
- Glycoscience
- A 2012 report from the U.S. National research Council calls for a new focus on glycoscience, a field that explores the structures and functions of glycans and promises great advances in areas as diverse as medicine, energy generation, and materials science.[1] Until now, glycans have received little attention from the research community due to a lack of tools to probe their often complex structures and properties.[2] The report presents a roadmap for transforming glycoscience from a field dominated by specialists to a widely studied and integrated discipline.
Any feedback would be great. Best wishes, Earlgrey101 (talk) 18:32, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
Hi, I think adding that new section on glycoscience would be good. I also think it would be good to mention that glycans are used to measure people's glycan age. This is based on evidence that glycans and their distributions change as we age (20 years or so of research). I'm reluctant to include any particular article, because I don't know which one is considered the classic ground-breaking one, but google finds many magazine articles and papers for keywords glycans and aging. 125.168.41.189 (talk) 01:21, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

Proteoglycans
[edit]Proteoglycans have O-linked glycans attached to them. I propose that the proteoglycan subsection is moved under the O-linked glycan section. --kupirijo (talk) 08:30, 9 November 2020 (UTC)
