Knighthood
[edit]I'm adding his knighthood to the article because I remember the announcement when he made the honours list. However I've been unable to find any reference to the relevant details on the web, and very few references to his being Sir Donald at all. Does anybody know which 1994 honours list he appeared in and what type of knighthood it was? JackofOz 10:08, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- Donald Pleasance was not knighted. He was awarded an OBE in 1993 (Queen's Birthday Honours list, I believe), but he was most certainly not a 'Sir'. --Ayrshire--77 10:04, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- The 1995 reprint of the Cambridge Biographical Encyclopedia (ed. David Crystal), calls him "Sir Donald" and says "he was knighted in 1994". Could the highly esteemed Prof Crystal have got it wrong? JackofOz 14:50, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- It looks like it — according to the Oxford DNB 1994 was the year he was appointed OBE. Wilus 09:08, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well there you go then. Thanks for clearing that up. (Moral: Don't believe everything you read. Catch: Know which experts to trust and which not.) JackofOz 09:21, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Date Confusion
[edit]The article lists his birth as in 1919 and his career starting in 1912. One of these needs correction. 67.79.157.109 12:33, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Screen credit record?
[edit]"His high work rate in international cinema earned him the distinction of being the most prolific film actor at the time of his death with over 500 screen credits."
Can anyone clarify this statement? It sounds like he held a record that has since been broken, but it's not clear what that record is. Was his 500 more than anyone ever accumulated? If so, is it still? The phrasing almost suggests the addition of the word "alive" after "prolific film actor". - Tobogganoggin talk 04:45, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
The Caretaker - filmed in 1962 - an outstanding performance as Davies. Why isn't this on the list of movie credits? ```` —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.171.93.111 (talk) 13:42, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
Film List?
[edit]I had to edit the list of his screen appearances at the end. It contained a reference to DP as playing "the dying king" in the Bee Gees' Cucumber Castle but this is just wrong. I mean how could you confuse DP with Frankie Howerd? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.12.252.113 (talk) 04:02, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
date of death contradicts filmograph
[edit]it says he died in 1995 but his last film was 1996 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.201.21.94 (talk) 21:27, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
- There's not necessarily a contradiction there. He finished his work on the film but died before it was released the following year. -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 21:27, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

Nikola Pleasence
[edit]Shouldn't his step daughter Nikola Pleasence and the claims that he sexually abused her be mentioned? 86.24.26.12 (talk) 17:18, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- Have you got any reliable sources for this?Rangoon11 (talk) 22:23, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, there's plenty of information if you Google her name. She claims he sexually abused her when she was 16 years old. 82.14.49.239 (talk) 13:48, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
That makes interesting reading, it seems she's suffered both mentally and physically. 90.246.165.190 (talk) 13:05, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
I'd be very surprised if there was any truth in this, I know one of his daughters and nothing like that has ever been mentioned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.229.22.133 (talk) 14:41, 12 January 2020 (UTC)

Advertising work
[edit]DP made a series of memorable ads for Holsten Pils lager beer in the UK in 1979-80. Unfortunately I can't find a good ref so won't add this to the article. See https://youtube.com/watch?v=a44tUB9tgOk --Ef80 (talk) 18:31, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Donald Pleasance
[edit]I do believe that Donald Pleasance lived in Datchet, as I had a polite altercation nwith him whilst parking my car in Peascod Street, Windsor. The altercation was very politely handled by Donald,. As he was about to reverse his POrsche into a parking spot , I nipped in with my Mini and stole the spot. He looked over his shoulder and gave me that witheriung look , that only he could do and then waved and pakhed further down the Street. This would have been early 1964 .

- In the early sixties, Donald would visit his mother who lived in Sparkhill,Birmingham. He loved to stand in his bay window watching passers-by & follow them with his eyes! Sadiesox (talk) 14:38, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
