Other applications

[edit]

Are there any other applications for crossover cabling besides ethernet? This article may be redundant.

Yes apparently there are - Ethernet_crossover_cable#Other_networking_technologies. Some reorganization of these two pages is probably in order. --Kvng (talk) 16:44, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wiring clarification

[edit]

I think the last sentence in the first para is wrong. If the crossover is made "at both ends" then they will cancel each other out. That is if you cross pin 1 to WHT/GRN at one end then re-cross WHT/GRN at the other end to pin 1 you end with a straight through connection. The last sentence should read "The Pins of the RJ-45 Connectors at one end of a cross-over cable are connected as follows:"

I have clarified that the diagram pertains cable wiring and not connector wiring. I think it is a stop-gap improvement. As I mention above, further work is required. --Kvng (talk) 16:20, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

This page and Ethernet_crossover_cable are becoming more and more similar. A merge has been proposed. I'm in favor of a merge. The articles are both short and it should not be difficult. If further discussion is necessary, here's a place to have it. --Kvng (talk) 16:21, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is plenty of content on Ethernet crossover cable, so I think it should not merge over here. But that's what brings me to this talk page. Why is there so much repetition of Ethernet crossover cable here? Can I chop most of it out? mt 19:43, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the duplicated information from this article. With the inclusion of information on other types of "Crossover cables" here, a merge is no longer necessary. I have removed merge tags from both pages --Kvng (talk) 12:50, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

POE Concerns

[edit]

The POE concerns section seems like something that would be better suited for a forum, not an encyclopedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.104.194.10 (talk) 17:26, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

T1 crossover

[edit]

24.156.121.36 left the following message prior to the T1 crossover table in the Other technologies section. ~KvnG 13:00, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • The following chart with diagrams is horribly confusing and full of mistakes. The connectors shown at the top of the columns do not match the details down the column. Further, the data shown on the chart does not match the descriptions in the bullet points above. Please refer to Ethernet crossover cable.

Do you have a citation to prove the pinouts of the photograph are correct? 75.145.89.226 (talk) 03:17, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
