Proposed merge with Craniostenosis
[edit]Craniosynostosis and craniostenosis are not the same thing. A child can have early fusion of the cranial bones (craniosynostosis) without having stenosis, which is a restriction on the space available for the brain to grow. Alternatively, craniostenosis can develop for reasons other than craniosynostosis.
Support: as far as I can tell, the two names are synonymous. I propose the new article be called Craniosynostosis as that name has more articles wikilinked to it. Rosemary Amey 04:46, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
i removed a superfluous link to "craniostenosis". if it just redirects back, what is its function? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.74.3.88 (talk) 18:26, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
I removed a link "Photo Gallery Results of less invasive craniosynostosis procedure performed at University Health System, San Antonio, TX" that was no longer functioning and added patient stories from the University of Missouri Children's Hospital. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.206.17.214 (talk) 17:44, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
craniosynostosis/ posterior plagiocephaly,/lambdoid synostosis
[edit]The term posterior plagiocephaly,is reference to WHAT it does to the shape of the head and is not lambdoid cranialsynostosis as this can occur from suppine positioning in newborns, but not present with a craniosynostosis.lambdoid craniosynostosis IS the actual name for the disorder in which the lambdoid suture is prematurely closed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.5.5.109 (talk) 23:36, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Historical name
[edit]Did this condition use to be known as "headmouldshot", as attested on this bill of mortality? Or could that also refer to something else? – filelakeshoe (t / c) 🐱 13:18, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
