[edit]School type/religious affiliation
[edit]The religious affiliation or designation as "non-sectarian" is not so clear cut. For example, Duke University describes its ties with Methodism as "formal, on-going, and symbolic" [1] while Wake Forest University maintains "a dedication to the values rooted in its Baptist heritage" [2]. Both schools can be considered "non-sectarian" in that they are no longer under the direct auspices of their founding religious organizations. Likewise, Boston College maintains its Jesuit identity in spite of the fact that it severed its formal ties with the Jesuit Order (and thereby the Catholic Church) in the 1960s when it was independently incorporated under a lay board of trustees. Unlike the Catholic University of America, which is under the direct auspices of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, or the University of Notre Dame, which is governed by "fellows" who must be priests of the Congregation of Holy Cross, The Trustees of Boston College (BC's governing body) operate independent of any religious jurisdiction. This arrangement is probably similar to that at Duke or Wake Forest, except that the BC trustees have voluntarily chosen to elect members of the founding religious organization to the presidency (though they are not required to do so). In fact, similar arrangements exist at other Jesuit colleges and universities, where both women and non-clerics have been elected to presidency (most recently at Georgetown University). All of this is to say that I think the nature of a school's religious affiliation is beyond the scope of this article, and that "public" or "private" suffice in the context of the members table. --24.63.125.78 10:26, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Logos
[edit]There is a discussion to clarify our policy/guideline on the use of sports team logos. Please see Wikipedia_talk:Logos#Clarification_on_use_of_sports_team_logos if you wish to participate in the discussion. Johntex\talk 16:35, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Under the heading "C-USA" should go, not the list of names and nicknames, but a standard logo gallery.--Cliedl 20:56, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Men's Soccer
[edit]I corrected the information under Men's soccer. Penn State plays Men's soccer in the Big Ten Conference, which sponsors the sport. Notre Dame University (which isn't in the Big Ten) plays men's soccer in the Big East Conference, which sponsors the sport. As far as I can tell, Arkansas State University doesn't sporsor men's soccer; even if it does, they don't play in C-USA.Ltv100
Ark State recently dropped men's soccer as a cost cutting measure. If anyone knows FIU's soccer stadium, could you please add it? BobbyAFC 04:39, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
Mercer Bears Joining CUSA
[edit]Can anyone source an article stating that Mercer has actually been declared as a future CUSA expansion school? I haven't heard anything of this and think it's just idle speculation. --JBladen (talk) 11:05, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Football Championship Game?
[edit]Does CUSA have a football championship game? The Article is ambiguous about this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.115.155.56 (talk) 18:05, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, C-USA does have a football championship game, the Conference USA Football Championship. I'm not sure how the article is ambiguous, as it lists it in the "Championships" section. Could you explain more, so I can make a change? Or if you're comfortable, you can make the change yourself. Thanks! Brian Reading (talk) 20:14, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
There are two NCAA contestants and no 2010–11 Conference USA men's basketball season article. Please consider creating one.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 06:17, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Proposal to make timelines more consistent
[edit]I noticed that conferences in List of NCAA conferences have articles, usually including a membership timeline. While some of the decisions made for each conference make some sense, there is a wide variety of styles for the various timelines, particularly involving color choices, but also other matters of style that could be more consistent.
for example, a school with a yellow bar means:
- An associate member in one sport (if part of the BE)
- A former member of the conference (in the SEC)
- A future member of the conference (in the SEC and Big West)
- A football only member (in the Sun Belt)
- A team that has moved to another conference (in the WAC, NEC)
- A full member of the Big Sky
Some graphs have captions, some do not, and none are centered.
To see the variety of styles, review Current conference timelines
I think it would be worth discussing how best to provide some measure of consistency, recognizing that there may be legitimate reasons for some differences from a standard presentation (for example, some conferences show the name of the new conference for former members. In some cases, this makes sense, in other, it may not.)
I've produced a draft of how the timelines would look with some consistency added. Please see Draft proposal of conference timelines.
I propose a discussion to see if there is consensus on improving the consistency.
Because it would not be practical to have this discussion on each and every conference talk page, I suggest centralizing this discussion at the Talk page of Project College football SPhilbrick(Talk) 13:07, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
Departing Members
[edit]With the conference dissolving in 2013, why make a distinction between teams leaving for the Big East and teams joining a new conference with former Mountain West Conference teams? Technically because C-USA is dissolving, all twelve current members will be leaving. --Gregchilders 05:38, 15 March 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gregchilders (talk • contribs)
Re:Future Members
[edit]It is being reported that the conference is in talks with multiple schools, but at this point nothing is official and those schools should not be added to the membership section until either officially announced by the conference itself or individual schools. Wikipedia is not to be used to predict or speculate on future events. The only appropriate place currently to mention the possible/probable expansion would be in the history section. --Michael Greiner 04:54, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Sam Houston is a two time national champ
[edit]I saw the section saying which championships schools won and where they where when they got it. Sam Houston state got one recently here in 2020 but they also got one in the last few years in division II. That was 1964 in the NAIA when they were still in the Lone star conference 2600:100D:B018:6AA2:62CD:F33F:7358:EDF9 (talk) 17:51, 27 November 2022 (UTC)
