Dubious, indeed: 18 °C
[edit]The optimal storage temperature, based on where the tobacco is grown or the cigars rolled, of 18 °C in the "Humidor" section is indeed dubious, as tagged. The vast majority of cigars are from semi-tropical regions (e.g., Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Cuba), and 18 °C would be a rare chilly day. (And the reference even cites 16-18 °C, which it calls "room temperature"; that's 61-64 °F .) BMJ-pdx (talk) 22:19, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- Changed to 16-18 degrees per source and removed the dubious tag. There is no reason to expect that the optimal storage temperature has anything to do with the weather where the tobacco grows. Sjö (talk) 13:45, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
Lighting
[edit]I can't parse this: "The thin cedar wrapping from cigars with one may be used." I've flagged it for clarification, but I'm not going to leave it long; I enjoy deleting nonsense. MrDemeanour (talk) 18:14, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
New Section
[edit]I added a new section. Please check out Cigar § Cannagar to see if it fits here. Joesom333 (talk) 01:54, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
need improvements on cigar manufacturing companies In Ybor.
[edit]J.C. Newman is not the only company still producing cigars in Ybor and west Tampa. 8th street has over 5 cigar shops manufacturing cigars (though on small scale) which can be bought nation wide. West Tampa Tobacco is another company producing cigars on a larger scale. Ybor is well known for boutique cigars companies. this area needs correction. 209.48.131.18 (talk) 15:43, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
Harm Reduction?
[edit]Afternoon everyone, I was just wondering if the main finding from the study cited in the article is worth pointing out that,
"The main finding of this study is that exclusive male cigar smokers age 40 years had no statistically significant increased mortality from all causes, heart diseases, malignant neoplasms, cerebrovascular disease, smoking-related diseases or other causes. In contrast, the mortality experience of dual users of cigars and cigarettes and cigar smokers who formerly used cigarettes is similar to exclusive cigarette smoker" (Rodu and Plurphanswat 2021, pg. 5-6)
Perhaps it could be helpful to include the fact that occasional use of cigars is not significantly correlated with risks of death or disease? Just to provide balance and potential harm reduction advice.
