Negative section

[edit]

Negative section cites no references--some of the statements seem incendiary without citations. Also, there are many sentence fragments. 76.17.115.216 23:44, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added the Investor's Business Daily editorial, If The West Really Cared. Asteriks 13:34, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a negative section at all so I guess it was deleted. The whole page reads like a promotional ad for CARE. There is no mention of their ratings, their shortcomings when it comes to privacy policy, and the large number of complaints from donors about the privacy policy being ignored even after repeated requests to be removed from their mailing list. They send out more junk mail than any other organization. These things are all reported in media and reviews but whitewashed on wikipedia. 24.215.166.37 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 01:29, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please disambiguate from CARE (the 'christian' pressure group)

[edit]

This organisation is strictly non-denominational, yet has recently lost a lot of support due to the activities of the faith based organisation 'CARE (making a christian difference<http://www.care.org.uk/> ), who have been in the news recently <http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2009/04/26/100-protest-outside-london-gay-cure-conference/> and <, for supplying free interns to Members of Parliament in the UK, and other governments in Europe, with what appears to be the specific intention of pushing their anti-homosexual stance, and who fund research into 'compulsory cures for homosexuals' amongst other things <http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2012/02/22/david-lammy-severs-ties-with-equal-marriage-opponents-who-funded-interns/>.

Care International are strictly non-religious, have been put to the effort of issuing a disclaimer on their website at <http://www.careinternational.org.uk/> - could you disambiguate these at the top of the front page?79.70.234.190 (talk) 16:40, 14 March 2012 (UTC)twl79.70.234.190 (talk) 16:40, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:CARE Logo.gif

[edit]

Image:CARE Logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Recent Campaigns

[edit]

I'd like to flesh out this article with more information on CARE's activities, particularly their recent/ongoing campaigns. There's a lot that this organization does that can be discussed in more detail. -- Orcar967 (talk) 16:45, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More Detail

[edit]

Hello, I am Arielle and a student at Syracuse University. I am going to try to edit and flesh out this article for my class so that it can be deemed less "advertisement-like." Please let me know if you have any questioins or issues. Thank you. -- Aaparker (talk) 16:54, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vietnam

[edit]

CARE had considerable involvement in Vietnam as far back as the Geneva Accords in 1954. They were especially crucial in the evacuation of Catholics from northern vietnam and the creation of a model village of former Viet Minh in Ben Vinh. ("Private Voluntary Aid and Nation Building in South Vietnam: the Humanitarian Politics of CARE, 1954-61", Pergande, Peace & Change, Vol. 27 No. 2, April 2002) --Sasbrown (talk) 05:09, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They are non-denominational, and would never have asked what religious affiliation those they helped were - if they did evacuate anyone, they would not have exclusively selected a particular group on the basis of their religion- please emphasise that. 79.70.234.190 (talk) 16:49, 14 March 2012 (UTC)twl79.70.234.190 (talk) 16:49, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My edits

[edit]

It's not the job of an article to tell people what it's political views are unless of course it's meant to be a political article. The people of the world can make their own determination as to what a groups political views are. Saying your one thing on wikipedia doesn't mean anything. Woods01 (talk)

Merge suggested from CARE Indonesia

[edit]

It has been suggested at the AfD discussion for the CARE Indonesia that information from it be merged to this article. Northamerica1000(talk) 22:23, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

checkY Merger complete. All sourced information from CARE Indonesia has been merged into this article, per the result of the AfD discussion for the CARE Indonesia article. Northamerica1000(talk) 00:03, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite proposal

[edit]

Hello! I'm very new here so apologies if I'm not quite hitting all the decorum rules... I'm proposing a rewriting for this article. My proposed rewrite can be seen on my sandbox page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Mtb_cdn/sandbox

My rewrite expands the basic sections (history, current structure, etc). It does not include a section on CARE Indonesia specifically because as far as I know there's no particular reason to cover the Indonesia office when no other country office is covered in detail. For the same reason I'd suggest deleting the article for CARE Denmark.

In case it's an issue, I'll make it clear here that I was an intern at CARE for a few months. (This is why I've done so much reading about CARE...). But I've made every effort to stick to facts, use fair sources, and stick to a neutral tone. Even so I thought I'd do an "request edit" just in case there are any issues.

Thanks! Looking forward to feedback! Mtb cdn (talk) 20:42, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is a major rewrite, and some of the expanded sections look very interesting. I don't see any COI problems here. However, I'm not willing to do a proxy edit this large without comment from others here.
On the Indonesia section, note above that the separate article on CARE Indonesia was recently merged into this article after a consensus discussion, so removing this section would completely remove the sourced info on this organization. This would be, I think, unwise.
I hope others comment substantively on this proposal. You might reach out to people who have made major edits to this article in the past.
By the way, the normal custom is to add new sections to the bottom of a talk page. I haev moved this section accordingly. DES (talk) 13:53, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi DES, and thanks so much for taking a look at it! I've posted feedback requests on the talk pages of the users who seem to have made bigger changes in the past, so hopefully we'll see some comments soon.
As far as the Indonesia section, maybe it would be better to include it as an "example of country office activities" or something like that? I just worry that leaving it as a section as it is currently is somewhat confusing because it's not clear why one Country Office merits its own section when others don't.
Thanks again for your help and comments, and I hope we'll see some further comments soon. Mtb cdn (talk) 15:50, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite implemented

[edit]

I have implemented the rewrite that I suggested above, as after contacting previous editors I have not heard further feedback and have waited about two weeks. As suggested by DES, in order to respect the earlier "merge" decision I have kept the content in the CARE Indonesia section though I have rewritten it slightly so as to avoid repetition with other sections (and fixed a broken source link). This section is called "Example of Country Office activities: CARE Indonesia" so as to make it clear that CARE Indonesia is just one of many Country Offices. Thank you and let me know if there are any problems. Mtb cdn (talk) 15:17, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalization

[edit]

The article refers to the organization as CARE or CARE International, and so does the organization’s website (aside from the logo which is styled all lower case). Should the article not be titled “CARE International” rather than “Care International”? SJMcK (talk) 20:26, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Now also moved. ;-) — JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits) 16:11, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Found an incomplete sentence

[edit]

I'm not sure what it's trying to say, so I didn't change it. Can someone with history on this article fix this?
