Article for deletion

[edit]

This article has been marked for deletion. The reason given is "A search for references failed to find significant coverage in reliable sources to comply with notability requirements. This included web searches for news coverage, books, and journals, which can be seen from the following links: Bundelkhand Yearly Meetingnews, books, scholar Consequently, this article is about a subject that appears to lack sufficient notability". I have added references to this article. Many of these are in fact the same sources which the editor who proposed deletion found at Bundelkhand Yearly Meetingnews, books, scholar. As the editor who has proposed deletion has not discussed this on the discussion page, I am unsure whether his/her objection to the references that he/she found was that there were simply not enough of them or that the sources found were not reliable enough? Any article about an organisation in Madhya Pradesh is likely to have smaller number of web links on Google than a British or American organisation simply because the web is a less common way of communicating in rural India - I don't think you can decide on the notability of a topic purely based on the number of weblinks you can find to that topic. If Britain Yearly Meeting and Philadelphia Yearly Meeting are each notable enough to have Wikipedia articles, then why not Bundelkhand Yearly Meeting? To only have Wikipedia articles for British and American Yearly Meetings but not African and Asian ones solely on the basis that they do not have as many weblinks on Google will produce a very culturally skewed encyclopedia. If the editor who feels the topic is insufficiently notable would like to explain his/her decision on this discussion page maybe this could be discussed. As I have now added references to statements in this article, I will remove the article for deletion tag. Ceiriog (talk) 12:52, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
