Location
[edit]The Location section prior to my edit was
The [[intersection]] of Balete Drive is between Aurora Blvd that is a few blocks away from [[Gilmore Avenue]] (the local "[[Akihabara]]" of [[computers]]) and [[St. Paul College]] of Quezon City. The east side exits near St. Luke's Medical Hospital and the west side exits near [[GMA-7]] and [[Tomas Morato Avenue]], one of the [[night-life]] places in the city. On the other hand, the center intersection of Aurora Blvd is [[EDSA]]-[[Cubao]], the shopping center of the [[Filipino]]s in the [[1970s]].
I believe my edit may read a bit better, however it needs attention from someone familiar with the area or who can refer to a map to clarify the description -- | 13:20, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
New Manila
[edit]The introduction makes mention of New Manila but in the info which Wikipedia has on the area there is no mention of New Manila. Can anyone rectify this? -- | 13:20, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
new manila is only a district of quezon city(qc) and qc is just a part of Metro Manila Kamuixtv (talk) 14:03, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Request addition to Reportedly Haunted Locations in the Philippines?
[edit]I'm surprised this wasn't listed there. 116.93.23.41 (talk) 23:16, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
Only one image of Balete Drive
[edit]I've noticed there is only one pic of Balete Drive available on English Wikipedia — File:Balete_drive.png — and it is of poor image quality (because it's in .png, not .jpeg, format). Can any Wikipedian image contributors here in the Philippines take or provide good/high-quality pictures of Balete Drive? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.198.79.26 (talk) 08:50, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
Images of the street's northern segment
[edit]I'm very impressed that Balete Drive has many imgs available at Commons (which somehow has fulfilled request by a certain 112.198.79.26. But I've noticed that Commons lacks images of the street's northern segment (that is, the part between E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue and Bougainvilla Street). The only imgs available at Commons are those showing the segment of the street between Acacia and N. Domingo Streets (and may not fully depict or represent the street itself).
It would be best that images depicting Balete Drive's northern segment would be uploaded to better depict the street in its enwiki & tlwiki articles. I hope that my request would be fulfilled as soon as possible. Thanks! JWilz12345 (talk) 09:20, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
- And one more thing, may I request that the requested images of Balete Drive's northern segment (E. Rodriguez Sr. Ave (or Blvd)—Bougainvilla Street) would depict that segment in a cloudy weather? I mean, its like what is/are depicted on the ff.:
- File:Padre Burgos Avenue.jpg
- File:Plaza Fair Makati.jpg (pls refer to https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/archive/1/1a/20161211112215!Plaza_Fair_Makati.jpg)
- File:South Avenue Makati.jpg
- File:0891jfRoosevelt Quezon Avenue Fisher Mall Quezon Cityfvf 04.JPG
- File:MetroManilajf1121 19.JPG
I think that cloudy imgs would be better and more dramatic (or "striking") representations of Balete Drive. Thanks! JWilz12345 (talk) 04:34, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
- I would especially address this request to: Judgefloro, TagaSanPedroAko and RioHondo.JWilz12345 (talk) 11:43, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
- TBH, I haven't been to that side of town, although when i get the chance to go back to Robinsons Magnolia, I'll try to pass by and snap a shot. Not going to happen anytime soon tho, as QC is kinda far and im doing a lot of traveling in and out. Im sure itll come out of Judgefloro's gallery eventually, or you can take the foto yourself? It's fun! Especially while driving, which i did with most of those shots i uploaded here! Lol! :)--RioHondo (talk) 12:36, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I am primarily focused on south Metro Manila and CALABARZON, where I mostly shoot photos. Yes, you may use your camera or smartphone to take a photo, if you can, but not to be distracted using it. Judgefloro may have photos of Balete Drive, but not yet sure, as his current coverage is on Makati (and eventually to Taguig, the rest of Parañaque and Pasay, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, and soon, CALABARZON, starting with Laguna). RioHondo may take a photo through your request, but he will upload it locally on English Wikipedia rather than on Commons, owing to the Philippines FOP problem on Commons, that I see to be problematic for Filipino photographers, especially amateur ones. But, he may accept moving of his photos to Commons, usually of pictures of roads, as buildings and artwork in the Philippines are frequent targets of deletion due to lack of FOP in the Philippine copyright law, the Intellectual Property Code. I am critical on users deleting photos of architecture and artwork in the Philippines on Commons, and the photographers' community in the Philippines may possibly lobby for FOP when a case arises from a photograph of an architecture or artistic work that its creator deemed "infringing."
I'm sorry, RioHondo and TagaSanPedroAko (and also to Judgefloro), for my "impatience", but I'm highly very busy at schooling (college-level) at this moment, so I depend on uploaded imgs on commons or WP. I also use Freebasics on editing, thus uploading files on WP and Commons are impossible. I respect your statements, busy skeds, and geographical focuses. I think my only option for now is that I will patiently "keep an eye out" on this category at commons.
From 2014 (when I was still a casual web browsing person and not a WP contributor), when I came upon this article, I noticed that WP only has File:Balete drive.png (which is now deleted because of its virtual resemblance to a photo at visitpinas.com). This led my speculation in my mind that all of you are "scared" at BD's outdated urban legends. If this proved to be highly wrong, I sincerely apologize.
I admit that I was carried by these urban legends b4, but now I eagerly want to visit it someday, but this wish always never happen as my driver won't allow it.JWilz12345 (talk) 14:35, 2 February 2017 (UTC)Scared?Urban legends, those are kids stuff. Try to go to Blumentritt Road or South Avenue and take photos of actual crime scene. LOL! Balete Drive looks neat at least from the photos ive seen, and even the white house looks like any ordinary old house, that's nothing compared to the streets of Tondo, and other ghettos. Those are just Tokhang-level hehe. So you're in college. Grow up dude lol.--RioHondo (talk) 16:33, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
- Ok. Right now, I'm going to monitor Commons:Category:Balete Drive, and if I had an opportunity, I'll take a pic of that road if I pass there. But as of now, like I've said earlier, I'm busy at schooling here in Bulacan, and I use Freebasics on editing (which makes uploads virtually impossible).JWilz12345 (talk) 22:16, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
- This is the reason why I stopped contributing paranormal list-type articles such as "List of reportedly haunted locations in xxxxx", because I felt that I would not be a progressive (maunlad) contributor if I would continue to contribute in those articles. Besides, I have stopped believing worthless white lady legends of BD eversince I came upon this website and a page on Facebook last year.JWilz12345 (talk) 10:10, 4 February 2017 (UTC)
@RioHondo: and @TagaSanPedroAko:: Judgefloro has uploaded photos of this segment of Balete Drive. I highly thank Judgefloro for these photos (now found at commons:Category:Balete Drive (E. Rodriguez, Sr. Avenue - Bouganvilla Street), Mariana, New Manila, Quezon City). Thus the request is now fulfilled.JWilz12345 (talk) 13:12, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
