Other Historians section

[edit]

Section was full of supposition and POV interpretations, which I have removed. It is getting too late here to put references in, but will do another day if someone else doesn't put them in first. Please do not re-add POV suppositions.--Jeffro77 (talk) 14:22, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the link to the information on pages 120 and 121 http://books.google.com/books?id=nsbVAAAAMAAJ&pg=RA1-PA119&dq=evil merodach Jose&hl=en&sa=X&ei=ChH8TornK5SatwfE_-i1Bw&ved=0CEIQ6AEwAzgK#v=onepage&q=evil merodach Jose&f=false You will likely need to scroll down a couple of pages. Thank you for the more specific link. The document has more than one 'page 120'. I have corrected the reference to indicate that it is from volume 2. I have also now provided the correct year of publication for the correct volume.--Jeffro77 (talk) 05:12, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello hello! Thanks for reviewing this one! I've fixed the duplink. Ichthyovenator (talk) 08:43, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • "after Nebuchadnezzar had already ruled for forty years, Nebuchadnezzar affirms" Can one of the names be replaced by "he" maybe? Seems a bit necessary to repeat?
Changed the second 'Nebuchadnezzar' to 'the king', the wording here has to be clear enough so that it is conveyed that the inscription refers to that Nebuchadnezzar had been divinely chosen, rather than Amel-Marduk. It is a strange inscription since Nebuchadnezzar wrote it so late in his reign. Ichthyovenator (talk) 19:27, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Link cuneiform in article body.
Linked. Ichthyovenator (talk) 19:27, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • "particularly in view of evidence of altercations" Any way of rephrasing this so there isn't a double "of"?
Rephrased. Ichthyovenator (talk) 19:27, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Perhaps worth mentioning in the intro that he may have restored temples, as little else is known about him?
Added that he did some building work. We don't actually know if he did restore any temples, only that he said that he did. For whatever reason it wasn't uncommon in Mesopotamian royal inscriptions to refer to future building work in the past tense. Ichthyovenator (talk) 19:27, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • "17th-century portraits of Amel-Marduk ('Evilmerodach') and Neriglissar ('Nerigolossor')" Add "and his successor"?
Added. Ichthyovenator (talk) 19:27, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
