I think it may be simpler to regard presence (sound recording) as a location and direction-specific aspect of ambience, and deal with it as a subtopic in this article, instead of an article of its own. -- Chronulator (talk) 18:25, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe they should be merged in to one article, Ambience and presence (sound recording), each having a separate section, as they are very closely related but still distinct concepts. Radiodef (talk) 02:00, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think ambience and presence/room tone should remain separate articles. They're different enough from one another (the distinctions are pointed out well in the current version of Presence (sound recording)) yet easy enough to confuse with one another by someone looking for more info.
