Brothers, this is written like a propaganda report. Hasn't anyone actually studied this group adequately?

There is a need for a paragraph on Action directe's theory as to why it was a good idea to carry out such attacks. Otherwise they just appear to be mad;90.11.230.159 06:57, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unless theres an encyclopedic resource (Interviews with former members etc), its best not to speculate. However, this sort of praxis that AD engaged in comes from a somewhat old (And by old I mean 1800s) world anarchism concept called "Propoganda of the deed" that essentially sought to terrorize the bourgoise and government as a kind of propaganda to prove to the people that the powerful where vunerable. Most anarchists reject the idea in modern times however, taking a similar view to marxists that this kind of individual action is counterproductive and at odds with the idea of mass action as a source of revolutionary change. Either way, France 1970s Anarchists = Things get exploded. Duckmonster (talk) 07:55, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. --Againme (talk) 18:51, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

fr.wiki page

[edit]

The French wiki page for AD is very much more detailed than this English language version. Before choosing to machine translate (and also run over it by hand, for errors and such) some of this article are there any policies or things I should keep in mind as I do this or s machine translations a big No for Wikipedia? Thanks in advance for the advice! SP00KYtalk 09:13, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Contradicting Ideologies

[edit]

I think it's not logical to list contradicting ideologies like Maoism and Marxist-Leninism alongside Anarchism. As only Marxist-Leninism is quoted it would only make sense to remove Anarchism entirely or at least provide more sources. I personally am no expert in regard to the Militant Group thus just want to point it ot that we're missing Sources for Anarchism which would be very important Post the most (talk) 14:35, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(I am assuming you mean the infobox, so sorry if off-base. :) )There's an argument for them both being mentioned i think, my logic would be; The infobox doesn't represent a static point in time and the differing ideologies here do show the different tendencies and precurosors that were in-play over the story of AD. However I think you're right, this should be reflected in the article with citations. My caviat is however, its a fairly deep body of work to read to understand AD, i think and I haven't read it, so am not at all qualified, take this with a grain of salt. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_directe is better sourced. I'd read that if i wanted to understand somewhat better. SP00KYtalk 18:03, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
