Expansion

[edit]

I am currently in the process of expanding this article off line. I have added in the History section, but it doesn't have any text yet. I am hoping to complete this and upload over the next couple of days. — AustralianRupert (talk) 07:17, 4 May 2009 (UTC)  Done[reply]

Why Kennedy?

[edit]

The origin/rasoning for the designation as the Kennedy Regiment doesn't actually seem to be explined. Any ideas David Underdown (talk) 21:40, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, mate. Thanks for pointing that omission out. I will add it in. The titles of many of the early militia regiments were derived either from the name of region in which they were raised, or the name of early explorers in the area. The Kennedy Regiment was raised in the in northern Queensland, which had largely been explored by Edmund Kennedy and one of the shires was later named after him. From what I can tell, that is where the name was derived from. — AustralianRupert (talk) 22:07, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

G'day, I don't have anything to hand, so unfortunately I probably can't be of much help, sorry. However, have you contacted the Australian War Memorial? They might be able to help. I believe that you can email them by following the link here. Good luck. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 08:34, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
