  • 18:1618:16, 6 December 2019 diff hist −18 Western culture Scientific and technological inventions and discoveries: Grammatical Edit. The sentence was awkwardly written and was grammatically incorrect. I simplified the structure to a form that more easily conveys the message of the sentence.
  • 18:1318:13, 6 December 2019 diff hist 14 Western culture Architecture: Added the word architecture. Continuation of my previous edit.
  • 18:1218:12, 6 December 2019 diff hist 0 Western culture Architecture: Grammatical Edit. Saying that the Palais Garnier is a "masterpiece" is biased and unsupported. While it is a beautiful building, there is no evidence presented that it is a "masterpiece." This term is biased and should be replaced with a word that indicates the Palais Garnier is simply an example of Beaux-Arts Architecture.
  • 18:1018:10, 6 December 2019 diff hist −6 Western culture Architecture: Grammatical Edit. There is no consensus that the Parthenon is "the most iconic" Classical building. The picture serves to give examples, not to rank classical buildings. Thus, "an iconic" Classical building is more appropriate.
  • 18:0718:07, 6 December 2019 diff hist −9 Western culture Literature: Grammatical Edit. Using the word "emphasized" more effectively conveys the message of the sentence in a clear and concise way that follows conventional grammar rules. The original phrase was awkward and clunky due to an overcomplicated use of words.
  • 18:0418:04, 6 December 2019 diff hist 2 Western culture Literature: Grammatical Edit. The word "couched" in an obscure word that many people are likely unfamiliar with. "Expressed" is much more effective in conveying the message of the sentence in the most clear and concise way.
  • 18:0018:00, 6 December 2019 diff hist −14 Western culture Arts and humanities: Grammatical Edit. The sentence was poorly written and lacked a proper grammatical structure. The sentence is now more clear and concise. Also, the sentence now follows conventional grammar rules.
  • 17:5417:54, 6 December 2019 diff hist −5 Western culture Modern era: Grammatical Edit. "During the modern era" is more straightforward and formal. The phrase "coming into the modern era" sounds awkward and seems inappropriate to describe a time period.
  • 17:5217:52, 6 December 2019 diff hist 0 Western culture Grammatical Edit. Donald Henderson is an American scientist and should be labeled as such. Labeling someone as a "Westerner" is not the highest level of specificity. The article discusses the fact that the "West" is a subjective term. Using the term "American" is more straightforward and accurate.
  • 17:4917:49, 6 December 2019 diff hist −6 Western culture Grammatical Edit. I changed the statement to "an iconic gothic cathedral" because there is no source to back up the fact that it is regarded as the most iconic. This is something that is incredibly subjective and can cite Notre-Dame as an example but not as the definitive leader of "iconic gothic cathedrals."
  • 17:4117:41, 6 December 2019 diff hist −54 Western culture Grammatical Edit. The phrase "starting mainly with their acceptance of Christianity," sounds like an assertion of original research. Given that it is not cited, there is no way to know if this was original research or a commonly held belief by scholars. If the statement is able to be backed up with a source, there is a better way to state it within the article. The word "mainly" is also an unreliable word.
  • 17:1917:19, 6 December 2019 diff hist 0 Western culture Grammatical Edit. "Had" should be changed to "has" for Judaism because Christianity uses the present tense "has." If one religion has the present tense, it makes sense that the other should also.

  • 17:1517:15, 6 December 2019 diff hist 1 Western culture Grammatical edit. The sentence lists multiple branches of religions as having influenced Western Culture. Thus, "has" should be changed to "have." Tag: Visual edit
  • 17:0517:05, 6 December 2019 diff hist 1,248 Western culture I added a paragraph that speaks to some modern criticism of Western Culture and its history of subjugation and manipulation. The article does not mention any criticism of Western Culture and this edit improves the balance and neutral tone of the article. My additions are relatively small compared to the rest of the article but this will give the reader pertinent information about Western Culture's complex history and interactions with other cultures. • 16:5716:57, 6 December 2019 diff hist 762 Western culture The article maintains that being European usually guarantees that a country is "Western." I added three sentences that speak to a specific example of a European country being consider not "Western." These sentences are sourced and add valuable information to the subjectivity of the phrase "Western Culture." This improves the article along the guidelines of Wikipedia because it adds vital information on the discrepancy of there being a definitive "Western Culture." Tag: Visual edit
  • 16:5316:53, 6 December 2019 diff hist 1,254 Western culture I added a section of sentences that speaks to the subjectivity of the term "culture." The term has many different definitions and does not have an agreed upon meeting amongst scholars. While the article mentions this, it does so in sentences that are not sourced, and therefore, not reliable. This improves the article along Wikipedia's guidelines in that it adds valuable, sourced, and reliable information to the article that is pertinent to the concept of "Western Culture." • 17:1017:10, 5 December 2019 diff hist 1,484 Western culture I added a sourced paragraph about Jewish contributions to Western Culture. The article has consistently ignored the contributions and presence of Judaism within Western Culture. This addition improves the article along Wikipedia's guidelines in that it makes the article more neutral and unbiased. This addition also lengthens the "Religion" section which is considerably smaller than the other sections within the article. This has been a controversial issue discussed on the talk page. • 17:0117:01, 5 December 2019 diff hist 0 Western culture I added a cited statement that speaks to the relationship between the Church and state in Western Culture, and particularly European Culture, that led to a highly Christianized Europe. This edit was previously under "Test Edit." This sentence improves the article in that it adds evidence to to the fact that Christianity has, at times, held a manipulative position within Western Culture. Thus, the article is given a fair and unbiased view of Christianity within the context of Western Culture. Tag: Visual edit
