[edit]- 1872 – The Columbus and Toledo Railroad is incorporated.
- 1881 – Albert Bowman Rogers on his birthday discovers the pass through the Rocky Mountains that would bear his name, Rogers Pass.
20th century
[edit]- 1978 – The first section of the Frankfurt U-Bahn City Tunnel from the central station to Hauptwache opens.
- 1990 – An Alaska Railroad train derails 19 tank cars near Dunbar. Approximately 170,000 gallons of diesel and jet fuel are spilled; the cleanup efforts last nearly three weeks.
- 1994 – The 1960s-era booking hall at Canning Town railway station in London is demolished.
