Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde am 15. Oktober 1971 von der Bezirksregierung Koblenz genehmigt. Der Adler weist auf die Grafen von Are hin, die von 1100 bis 1246 Landesherren von Ahrweiler waren. Der Löwe steht für die Herrschaft der Herzöge von Jülich (bis 1614). Die Krone (deutsche Kaiserkrone) ist ein Hinweis auf die Herrschaft Landskron, zu der die Stadtteile Heimersheim, Heppingen, Gimmigen, Kirchdaun und Lohrsdorf gehörten.
English: The arms were granted on October 15, 1971. The eagle is taken from the arms of the Counts of Are and the former city of Ahrweiler. The lion is the lion of the Duchy of Jülich and is taken from the arms of Bad Neuenahr. The crown is a symbol for the Estate of Landskron, to which a part of the city historically belonged.
